It's a shame that...

a. He's too old
b. He's not doing acting full time anymore
and c. His first comic book movie role was terrible

because I think that Arnold Schwarzenegger (circa T2: Judgement Day) would be a great Darkseid.

I sincerely hope you are not talking about Conan The Barbarian.

Ugh... okay second comic book role (Mr. Freeze).... was Conan originally a comic character? I thought he was pulp...

Nope comic book character for sure, but it's all good, I mean it's not like he's Batman or Spider-man.

That sounds awesome. Make the fight show Superman at full power vs nothing short of the god that is Darkseid. Basically if done right it could be one of the best fight scenes in cinema.

Superman and Darkseid should fight on film and possibly be the best fight scene ever on screen.

man a live action superman vs darkseid anything like how it was in STAS/JLU would be pretty dam sweet to see.

My favourite Superman villains apart from Lex (who is always there anyway), are Darkseid, Mongul and Brainiac. In that order.
But i realise that first you've got to do Lex with his thugs (Metallo for example), then Brainiac, and then you can do Darkseid and Mongul.

As for who i'd like to play them, i'd suggest the voice actors that played them in STAS. Since all these characters are huge beings with inhuman faces, i say cast the voice actors. The characters will be makeup or CGI anyway.
Michael Ironside was godly as Darkseid, Eric Roberts was fearsome as Mongul, and the guy that did Brainiac had this computerized voice (which wasnt edited, it was just the voice actor) which suited him.

Here is Eric Roberts as Mongul:

"Happy birthday Kryptonian, I give you oblivion!" has to be one of the most iconic quotes in Superman comics ever.

well i could see brainiac being done first with lex as a secondary foe. To break up the whole lex is main villain thing. I would love to see darkseid/mongul in a film series along with metallo and a few others.

Lex has to get his deserved share of character development. Being an evil dude for no reason, or as if he was born with the evil gene is boring and unimaginative.

I'd like to see Brainiac in the first film. If he is given a Kryptonian origin like in STAS, it could help us examine Krypton's history even more and explain why nobody else survived (Brainiac sabotaged any escape attempts). He would also provide amazing fight scenes.
That would give Lex time to evolve during the first film and become the evil mastermind in the second. Lex's problem with Superman is that he doesnt trust him and he believes that deep down Superman wants to rule the world. But even if Superman is benevolent, Lex believes that he is spoon feeding the world, being too helpful and not letting it evolve on its own. But we all know that deep down Lex is jealous that Superman is blessed while no matter how hard he works he will never get the same attention and acceptance from the public.
That is why i like how STAS did Lex. He was good at first but when Superman stole the spotlight, he went nuts. That and all that "i dont trust him" stuff.

And with another alien (brainiac) threatening to destroy the world, Lex's fears over Superman's motives would be more than justified. And if the world doesnt understand the threat that its facing, then its up to Luthor to protect humanity. So he changes the direction of his company, from charities and whatever else its doing, to arms manufacturing, lasers, kryptonite, *****ebaggery and research for the cure of baldness. :hehe:

And one more thing: I hate the version of Lex that grew up in Smallville being friends with Clark. Seriously... goddamn!

that for lex and brainiac could probably end up working well on screen.

Thanks! :woot:

BTW, Lex has to be evil. Like... Really evil. Like this (Lex and Flash have swapped minds and its really Flash in his body in this scene):

I hope you don't mean him saying cheesy lines like that on film.

oh totally lex needs to be that sadistic evil type, but still a smooth talker, and a charmer. So in the public they think he is the best guy for the city, but to superman, and all the other criminals in the city they know he is one sick SOB.

No, i just wanted to show you this funny scene from the Justice League.
And it wasnt cheesy. It was Flash in Lex's body having fun. It was hilarious!

what if they had villains belonging to other superheroes locked up in stryker's island?

What's Stryker's Island?

As much as I'd love to see Brainiac and Superman go at it in the first film, I'd rather have that occur in a sequel. Metallo & Luthor should be the villains of the reboot, with plenty of knock-down, drag-out fights throughout Metropolis in which Superman barely wins. This establishes Luthor as a manipulative, behind-the-scenes villain and also shows Superman's abilities.

However, I want Brainiac in the sequel 10x stronger and 1000000x smarter than Metallo and have the audiences wondering how Superman will survive the fight.

The way I see it:

1st Film.
- Metallo - main physical-threat / Luthor's pawn
- Luthor - corrupt businessman / master manipulator / funds Intergang
- Intergang - Superman's equivalent to Batman Begin's Falcone

2nd Film.
- Brainiac - main physical / psychological threat
- Luthor - side villain / tries to use Brainiac to his advantage (ulitmatley form Lexiac)

3rd Film.
- Darkseid or Mongol or Imperiex or whoever invades.
- Luthor - helps in the fight against the invader but has his own agenda

that would be a good way to go about things. Personally i am down with metallo or brainaic for first of a new film series.

I would take another route that would exploit Supes vulnerbility, loosely follow SR continuity(and I mean loosely), briefly re-visit his origin, and set-up future villains for sequels... and it would be as complicated or long as you think it may be.
