The Official Mitt Romney Thread II

Around this time McCain was leading by a couple of points..... who knows what will happen in October.

The more I read about Mittens as a person the more I actually like the guy. Not as president mind you but as a human being. There was a good article on politico that talked about how if he didn't have to pander to the GOP and focused more on the good deeds he has done that he doesn't like to take credit for he would have a much better public image, instead he basically let Obama define his public image.

He is an awkward politician and I think that is because he is a good business man. He seems like a good person but he is just inept when it comes to running his campaign. I'm not sure if its because of the people he surrounded himself with or what but I almost feel bad for the guy. I'm glad he's trailing because I don't agree with most of what he would do as POTUS but the more I look into him the more I find that even though he's out of touch with the common man and prone to gaffes that make him look even more so, he isn't a bad guy. Just somebody I disagree with on most levels

I think Mitt's biggest problem and I said it for awhile is the fact he has to pander to the far right in his party. Sucks for him that most things he probably could do that would win over moderate voters would probably piss off the extreme parts of the party

I personally think that Mitt planned on using his health care plan(this goes way before the 2008 election) as his big accomplishment to try push for becoming President and once Obama came up with Obamacare that idea was screwed

In the month of SEPTEMBER, yes he was ahead in several polls around 47% to 45% we are still in September.....which is why I said, ABOUT THIS TIME.....and my point was, in OCTOBER things could definitely change....which happened in 2008.

McCain was doing fairly well, UNTIL the TARP fiasco which was OCTOBER 3, 2008....McCain did said one thing and ended up doing another....and then he took a nose dive...

Early September is not early October. Stop misrepresenting what you said. McCain had a convention bump in early September which disappeared with the financial crisis and his infamous "fundamentals" comment in mid September (he was trailing before the TARP vote; that just worsened his gap). If a candidate is trailing in early October it's (a) much harder to come back than in early September and (b) no longer due to a convention bump but other factors.

Huh?

Outside of a 2 weeks span post Palin through 9/11, Obama lead the entire time, even when facing Hillary.

Its the dotted line. McCain never any legitimate lead, he just got a post convention bounce. September was the odd month of the race, not October. In September, McCain took his only lead of the entire race - from 9/7 - 9/16 - before Obama recaptured it and never looked back. In October, everything just returned to normal.

Obama has been leading the entire race this time around. The only way Romney can win is if Obama screws up.

Right. And Kelly also neglected to point out that every candidate in the past few decades (outside of Kerry and Romney) have received a substantial post-convention bump in the polls that naturally dissipates by the middle of the month. This is not unusual. What would be unusual is if Romney shot ahead in the polls in October with the convention long behind him. McCain was never ahead this far in the game and Kelly made it seem like he was.

We are at the point in the campaign where most people have made up their minds about candidates. Not who they are going to vote for, but the image they have & the ideas they associate with the candidates are fairly set in stone.

Potential First Lady of The United States?

Jesus dude, chill out.....I wasn't trying to disprove ANYTHING anyone said actually I agree with those who say Obama will win, just adding to the discussion.

It's fine, except that skirt is weird......like the shoes though....

The outfit looks like it's from the 80s

Meh, the top, jacket, etc...is fine...and the shoes are very trendy, but the skirt looks like its from the Flintstones....lol

Let's not start bringing the candidate's wives' wardrobe choices into the debate, okay? Both have had some missteps. Michelle is no Grace Kelly.

I agree that wardrobes should be irrelevent (unless purchased with campaign donations like Palin's was), but that picture is fake so it pretty much moots your entire point.

October's a long month. A lot can still happen that can tighten the race up. I'm not saying he will take the lead, but the gap will more than likely close again. He's lucky the 47% video came out earlier this month. If it had come out in mid-October, he'd definitely be toast.

Agreed. I'm not sure which former campaign manager said it, either Beckel or Ed Rollins, but the quote is "1 day in October equals 3 days in September."

This will be an extremely tight election, even if each candidate continues with the gaffe-fest this race has been so far. The fervent anti-Obama crowd will make sure they get to the polls, no matter how they feel about Romney, and they should not be underestimated.

If the pic you'd posted was legit, you might have a point. But it's a pinata photoshopped on her frame. Fail x 1,000,000. LOL :p

And I'm sorry, but the candidates wives do have a bearing on how the public views the men they married. They give us insight into what kind of taste these men have, and I'm sure you'll agree that America has a highly commercialized fashion/trend-concious culture. So while it may not count for much, how the women carry themselves does have a bit of impact--especially for women voters, who we all know are essential to this, and every election.

Mrs. Obama has been widely regarded as one of the most fashionable First Ladies since Jackie Kennedy Onassis, man. That's well documented. And one of the main reasons is because she is world renowned for her ability to mix and match the inexpensive with expensive choices of wardrobe, which women who are on a budget in this economy can relate to. She's even been seen wearing a recently-worn top or skirt twice or even three times with different shoes or jewelry showing she's not "caught up" in appearances overmuch.

Can Ann Romney do that? If she did, it'd endear her to American Women which would help Romney in terms of votes and support.
