Of course, if Arad had told Raimi that Venom had to be in 3 when he was still doing two, then we may have gotten Eddie there. But he only ordered Venom in while SM3 was being made...

yea as cool as venom was, i wouldve liked to see sam raimis spiderman 3. venom couldve been saved for part four, with just sandman and harry as villians in 3. couldve just introduced eddie brock in 3 then had him as venom in 4. they couldve possible had another villian in 4 (lizard perhaps), seeing as peter couldnt really fight venom if he was wearing the black suit. or he couldve took it off in 3 then have eddie find it or something in 4 i dont know

The problem with doing Raimi's Spider-Man 3 story without Venom is that when Arad finally got someone willing to do the Venom story the general audience would be all "Why are they doing another story about Peter's dark side? They already did one and that story didn't need alien goo to serve as a plot device, it was all Peter himself and he already beat his inner demons so why do it again?"

So Spider-Man 3 either should've had a different story to wrap up Raimi's trilogy, or they make 3 and 4 together so they can wrap up Sandman in 3 and leave Venom and Harry as the major villains of 4.

They already did one and that story didn't need alien goo to serve as a plot device, it was all Peter himself and he already beat his inner demons so why do it again?"

venom was great in the movie except ya know, the screentime. i liked him he was a bad guy who was actually really bad. even if it was for 15 minutes.

I agree. Raimi always has to have his baddies be good men turned bad,or misguided. Venom was just a nasty,vicious creature who loved being evil. And Brock,although not "evil" per say,was still this full of himself,arrogant prick. That was refreshing to see. But like everyone said,it's really a shame and it sucked that he didn't get as much screen time as he should have.

So if they did this story without Venom, then when they got someone who was willing to do Venom it would lack potency because a story about Peter's dark side would've already been done.

Meaning that when Arad got a director who liked Venom to do a movie about the Alien costume for the Spider-Man movies, it would be redundant because at that point they'd have already covered Peter's dark side and it would be nothin more than revisiting an ended storyline, only worse because a Venom movie would have the symbiote as a plot device to make Peter bad, which is inferior to him going bad due to his own inner demons.

The theme of the movie was always going to be about revenge and forgiveness, it was always about exploring Peter's darker nature and having find himself at the end. Vulture would have fulfilled the same purpose as Venom did.
