Sounds like that was some divine intervention.
Non-divine, actually. Man, the haters are gonna eat you up for that.
They never said anything about Baby May.I read # 639 today and, honestly, I kind of enjoyed it. Quesada's artwork was a little better than in the first part. Still putting his own image into Peter but I think that's just gonna be a given, heh. However, Paolo Rivera's artwork dominated the issue and, man oh man, was it absolutely beautiful.
It was good to finally get a final verdict on the whole "Baby May" stuff. All this, is she in or out of continuity, was getting a little old. I'm glad that now we are getting cemented answers.
So, basically, they didn't get married but they stayed together all that time and just weren't married. I was always to the understanding that was the whole plan to begin with. It was nice to see it in print and everything. The flow of it has been well done, but isn't this a little redundant? And isn't it a little late? I mean this is something that maybe should have been done like a few months into Brand New Day as opposed to 2 and a half years later, haha.
There are still two more parts to go in the story arc so I'm sure that we're going to get some more answers. Definitely the unmasking situation is going to get dealt with and I am wondering if the "Eddie" character is going to be making anymore appearances. Also, wondering when the whole "Peter/MJ" breakup comes into it all. We shall see...
They never said anything about Baby May.
Seriously. Like two years too late. So far it's making sense as to the outcome that was Brand New Day but, man oh man, I'm just getting that "too little too late" feeling from this.
They never said anything about Baby May.
It didn't come right out and say, "Baby May is done". She said that she wanted a baby and that came with being married. Well, they didn't get married, right?
Q: Specifically, Joe, you say that almost everything that Peter has been through in the last 20 years still happened with the only difference being that we have to substitute Peter and MJ's relationship as husband and wife for a continuing boyfriend/girlfriend thing. So, I guess what I am asking is: Since the marriage was derailed, but so many stories hinge on these two living together, are you saying that Peter and Mary Jane were co-habitating? And that MJ almost had a baby out of wedlock, but (presumably) lost it? In the end, I still plan on enjoying 'Brand New Day,' but I'm curious as to what kind of history these two share now."
A: The question sort of answers itself when you quoted my saying that "almost" everything happened. The funny thing about the pregnancy issue is that Marvel at the time scrambled to derail the story as quickly as possible. I don't know exactly how that story got as far as it did, but they ultimately realized it was a huge mistake. So, taking that into consideration, I personally feel that that's one that didn't happen, chiefly because Peter and MJ now not having been married, would have taken proper precaution to avoid getting in the family way in the first place.
Interesting, out of all the issues for OMIT (which so MJ being troubled or torn away from Pete), this is the only one that shows them embracing each other. And since this is part 4(?)...hmmm
EDIT just realised it is not a cover, but rather a page from the issues![]()
Anyway, here's a official teaser for the final part of OMIT with Amazing Spider-Man #641 (which has no been rescheduled for a September 1, 2010 release date):

Actually, they did answer this. There are so many unresolved issues with the Clone Saga that will probably never get addressed, such as the famous skeleton found in Sensational #2, that what's yet another thing such as the pregnancy that never happened...
... and that's my two cents...

Also, What the hell is going on with this story arc?
it's now every other week?
are they changiing the story because of the complaints?
why is it not shipping on time?
Part three got pushed back, according to Wacker we should be getting four issues next month though. (I'd provide the link, but it would take a while since what I read was his CBR message board post apologizing about it.)
Just read 639 and loved it. I was totally into MJ telling Peter why the marriage couldn't possibly work if Pete continued being Spidey. As I was reading it I was thinking, "Right on!". Spidey being married doesn't make sense to me. I normally refrain from typing that, but it's how I really feel, I guess. After that scene, I'm totally a supporter of the new direction now. Even though it took three freakin' years to tell this story!![]()
Aloha,
People should really go and check out the JoeQ interview, he tells you a lot. He corrects the interviewer regarding the history of the marriage. In the comic books, MJ turned down Peter's proposal because she knew he was Spidey and all that that entailed. Stan Lee married Spidey and MJ in the comic strips and that's what caused Jim Shooter to make the change in the comic books.![]()
Also, there was never going to be the death of MJ nor the death of some type of relationship between Peter and MJ, just not married.
Spidey rules
