I'm still wondering why people would be shocked at a Disney movie being kiddy. That is what it stands for after all. Disney let them get away with murder on the first Pirates flick.

POTC1 was dark. POTC2 was light. Easiest way to put it, both films were PG-13 but only the first one seemed PG-13 whereas DMC seemed too PG.

Well since nothing big has happened today, I'll post one of my fav pics from AWE:

if the spoiler about the ending is true....
how will takes over the flying dutchman and can only return to land every 10 years, i imagine this would be what happens just before he leaves elizabeth to set sail ?

Yep, thats how one of the scripts go.

I really don't think that Will will

Be stuck flying the Dutchman forever. WAY too against Disney

Now then, I have to say that I think COTBP is MUCH funnier and better and just written, acted, made and so forth than DMC. But I thought DMC was the "darker" of the two with seeing a hero getting his arse whipped by his father, souls being sold, the hero dying at the end, Davy Jones having people executed on his board and one of them being a praying Christian, crows eating people's eyes, a guy being dragged to his death screaming and everyone the heroes meet getting killed because of them by a Kraken or Davy Jones.

But it wasn't a very good movie....

Great. The darkness is part of what made the film film good... first film- proving that a great serious and fun movie can come from a Disney ride. DMC seemed more like a quick buck. But, if what you say is true- hopefully it will allow me to forgive DMC. :sym:

As always your opinion if yours to have, and not mine to orchastrate, but I will lend you the advice that some choose to hear, and some don't (which again is fine) DMC is pretty much pt 1 of 2, it isn't a whole movie

some people think that this shouldn't be how movies are made, I don't care as long as they equal sweet

but like how many first halves of movies are better than their climax? cause basically the real climax hasn't happened yet

like I say, if good fellas ended when Joe Pesci gets shot how great of a movie would that be?

Also with the darkness, and seriousness, I can't really comment on that cause seriousness is one of the last things I look for in a movie so I really wouldn't know where to start

but I thought DMC was great on its own, and I think it will be even better (as will Curse even) with AWE bringin down the house...cause that is looking great

Ya know, I don't know if I would be too big a fan of that ending

Welll I suppose I would be cool with it if it isn't so Liz and Jack can be together, if that isn't the motive behined having Will be a Dutchmen forever, than I am fine with it

I agree that the second has the darker themes, but the the extra four or five layers of slapstick completely destroy it. To the point that the end of Jack Sparrow feels completely out of place. Any attempt at a darker film is killed.

I have been ill since friday and finally got better enough to come online and see my fave Pirate Barbossa thanks DE!
What is he going on about in the first part lol he lost me lol.
Wow that part looks great!!

And just saw a tv spot on British TV!!!!! yes can't wait.

Also my sister (PhoenixSparrow) she loves Pirates brought a jar yesterday and filled it with dirt just like Jack in the second film, it looks so random in the room, a jar of dirt, lol I said she should buy a heart to put in it lol. But thats a bit sick lol.

what was the point of the dirt?

i don't know if i ever picked up the significance of that, cause he doesn't really get a chance to use it ever...i dunno

He puts Davy's heart in it when he finds it after the wheel sequence.

well obviously, but then Norrington takes it right out

my point is, what was the purpose of it? cause he puts it in there for like 5 seconds, and then norrington takes it right out, it doesn't do much, and the way they made a focus on it at Dalma's place made it seem like it was supposed to do something

I think that if he threw the dirt at Davey, it would instant kill Jones, since he couldn't step on land. OR, Jack could dump it into a pile and stand on it, thereby being safe from Jones. :oldrazz:

Jack didn't didn't know Norrington took it out, remember when the jar breaks he says where's the thump thump. Davy Jones can't step on land so if Davy tries to get the heart back he can't because it's on land. Tia says "Davy Jones can't step on land, so you wll take land with you".

Just wondering, has Disney's marketing made a fatal flaw yet again and isn't involved with a finale this week? Or is it line up with a couple of shows?

What got me thinking about this is the fact that FF2 comes out weeks after this film yet, I'm pretty sure it has the SV and SN finales, and definitely has the Heroes finale.

So, I was wondering if the marketing department finally became smart and put it with something... and it's beyond easy seeing as to how Disney owns ABC.
