ok but it never said anything like that in the movie. so pretty much its a massive plot hole that fans try and cover up?

The Captian has to cut out his heart thus binding him to the ship. The lover of the captian then gets the heart to keep it safe.

I was watching DMC yesterday, and I realised that in AWE the phrase 'the duchman needs a captain' came up again and again, but in DMC, one of the crew members says to Will 'the dutchman needs a living heart', which I thought was an intersting way of putting it.

Though I just like to think, whether it was intentional or not, that the ending is open to interpretation.

Oh, I'm picturing it now...

Me curled up in front of the fire. Nice food. A couple of bottles of wine. All three Pirate films. Snow outside. (Except it doesn't snow in England anymore!) What more could a girl ask for?

lol, picture perfect.

Just in time for Christmas!

Or am I being cynical? ;)

Hell I won't be waiting for Christmas, my plan is to have a new plasma screen and watch all three films in one day.

Plasma screen. Pirates. What more could a girl ask for.

It's very metaphorical. A man gives his heart to a woman. Literally.

I think in reality it would actually be a bit of a turn off. :woot:

@Darth Elektra: Any word on that DC box set of the trilogy?

Thanks. I'm going back to see it this saturday. I went on the sunday of opening weekend, and it filled up fast. We went in at 2:45 with tickets to the 3:30 showing.

By 3:00 there were practically no seats left, except for those on the very bottom row.

To the Pirate fans: I liked both Pirates and Spidey 3, though I prefer Pirates overall. Oh, and I wore my AWE t-shirt to Spidey 3. Hopefully that gets me back in your good graces.

lol, awsome.

And in ESB, Leia wasn't Luke's sister.

s*** happens.

LOL. :cwink: :woot:

really? i havent seen ESB in soooooooo long, what happend in ESB?
Are you seriously asking that?
Go watch it again, instead of asking us what happens.
Anyway. Leia was not supposed to be Luke's sister. The sister was supposed to be in the next trilogy, but that idea was scraped, so they made Leia Luke's sister.

The Pirate Lord wonders what other strange ideas they had for a 2nd trilogy...making Leia into Luke's sister really makes Lucas look like a pervert.

As far as sequels go, there's not too much left. The Pirate Lord would like to see some historical pirate figures, like Blackbeard and his guys. If they feel like doing any more ocean gods, there's Poseidon, Barbaryos (or whoever from the Odyssey), and sea serpents.

Maybe Anna Maria could return as a love interest. Hell, maybe she's gone on to become a pirate captain and could try to commandeer Jack's ship (if he gets the Pearl back, or finds another suitable vessel)...and could be like "an eye for an eye Jack."

^There's potential for an interesting relationship right there.

Pardon me for straying from topic but I remember reading a lil' about the proposed trilogy after ROTJ and this is what I remember they were gonna do if they went through with it...

The 2nd SW trilogy would have focused on Lukes search for his sister.

His sister was essentially the Mara Jade character from the expanded universe and would've been an agent of the Emperor intent on destorying Luke.

Eventually, Luke would convert his sister to the light side and they would fight a newly resurrected Emperor.

Obviously, almost all of these points went into that one paticular expanded universe story...don't remember the title.

Sounds awsome.

The books with Thrawn are the only ones I like.
