Hunter, I thought you saw it already.![]()
I have to respectfully dissagree Hunter for i think Johnnys Captain Jack was better then in DMC but not as good as COTBP ofcourse. But i think Jack was great and Barbossa the Pirate Lord scene was my 5 the favorite scene in the trilogy.
After The Moonlight March, The Jack vs Barbossa Sword Fight, The Three Way Sword Fight with Norrington, Sparrow and Turner and The Maelstrom Scene.
I watched it for the second time last night, and it was a bit better than I thought when I saw it in theaters. If I still have one gripe though, it's the endless trading and double crosses you mentioned. Even after the second viewing, I still couldn't keep track of things.
Call me crazy, but I prefer 2 and 3 over Black Pearl. 9/10.
Heard many complaints and its the fact that the perfect movie was in Pirates 1. As much as i injoyed the sequels while i had my pop corn and soda at the cinema i think they should have not tried to connect sequels to a movie where no sequel was ment. They should have done the Indiana Jones trilogy non connecting idea and still bring back barbossa but have differant adventures. You could have gotten in Jones and The Love Triangle but had them going after differant treasure. You know pirate stuff.Have you ever heard people complain that the sequels (Dead Man's Chest and At World's End) tried too hard to be "the thinking man's swash bucklers"? I've heard that a few times.
I finally saw this tonight, very disappointing, it starts out pretty well with the Shanghai sequence and then it's downhill when we meet the multiple Jack's,
from here it's endless double crosses and plot threads just thrown in, Jack muttering and talking to himself and no real concentrated story or character work, it's over crowded and overlong.
The only saving grace is Keira Knightley's performance and the maelstrom battle, which while good is not in the top 5 best action sequences this year IMO.
Poor 5/10
I found him more lazy in part 2...well, we can all agree than Jack was mystical, mysterious, epic, incredible, unexpectable and funny in COTBP, his glorious momentNo worries, I just thought Jack was pretty poor in AWE and even ramblingly annoying.

It should have ended with the neat little scene of Will and Elizabeth on the beach and then him sailing off to do his ten years, but no, more pointless Sparrow follows and then the even more pointless "10 years later" stuff, after the credits.

Thats what i thaught too having a differant cursed treasure of immortality with new cursed foes. You could still have included Davy Jones and The Dutchman. This is where AWE lost me as well...
Indeed. The multiple double crosses made the film very difficult to follow...
That final battle was okay but would've been epic had they gotten the rest of the pirates and royal fleet involved...as opposed to just watching from the sidelines.
But having said that, I ask you...
Does anyone else feel the series would've been more successful had they gone the Indiana Jones route and have 3 seperate adventures per movie as opposed to trying to link them into one 'coherent' trilogy?
I loved all 3 movies.
Sweeney Todd go see it, Depp in Rare Form.
