Now I agree Pirates 2 was disappointing. After watching the special features I think it is a mix of the first one not needing a sequel, the writers having run out of a lot of ideas, the writers not being given enough time to write or finish a screenplay and the writer, director, cast and crew not having enough time to do a third movie on top of it (it becomes very clear the "trilogy" came from Jerry Brucheimer wanting twice the amount of money and stretching a thin story over two films).

With that said, I still throughly enjoyed the second movie as pure popcorn fare (done right unlike oh say Michael Bay) and is to the first what Temple of Doom was to Raiders of the Lost Ark or more adequately in comparison BTTF2 compared to the superior BTTF3. I remain hopeful b/c in both cases the third installment was a return in form (and Last Crusade arguably tops Raiders of the Lost Ark).

With that said I think the acting matches the simplistic story well. Save for Bloom who is a little better than he was in the first (thanks to Ridley Scott giving him a crash course in good acting, if not great with KOH) but Knightley and the rest play their parts well. And I can't understand how someone can criticize Depp, even if he is picking up a paycheck.

Also, to the point, anyone who says Brando could barely be realistic much less naturalistic loses a lot of respect around here then.

So pirates 1 has just a slight advantage over dmc in your opinion? From your posts I always got the impression you didnt like it that much.

Oh totally DMC gets way to much hate, just the way I view the two

Is DMC is one of my favorite adventure/action blockbusters ever, and especially recently...

But Curse is one of my favorite movies ever period, like its probably top 5-10ish

DMC is just a 2 that is pt. 1 of a 2 pt movie, which tends to not be as loved as straight up movies, that is untill the 3rd comes out, and everyone appreciates what DMC did to set it up

All of these have such a great beining trilogy film all are classic opening sagsa films. Pirates 1 will always be the best to me.

I however already know that but i went into Pirates 2 expecting a truely desent film but it not being better then 1. People expected that and thats why there is dislike. D.MC none the less was a great addition to these growing Pirates movies with Captain Jack. I think these films will continue to wow us but don't be too sad if they aren't better then Pirates 1 for this can be a greater saga then Harry Potter for Pirates have such a fan base. I think Pirates could hold up a prequel 3 part trilogy before Curse Of The Black Pearl or even more sequels.

Lord Of The Rings was a bit restrickted to 3 films. I assure you that if there was more stories then just the 3 it would have continued but no there was 3. Except for the Hobbit Ofcourse. Harry Potter i feel is getting over done. But i Pirates and Spiderman are funner films like Star Wars.

Too me, Harry Potter began at POA. I don't like the first two because Columbus is an average director, and that's all he brought to the series. POA is where it began to form it's own identity.

HP2 was not realy important
HP3 was the prequel to the real storyline
Hp4 the real story began
HP5 the story got deeper
HP6 was near the end of the story when a hero dies and the character knows what needs to be done
HP7 will be the end

I saw this last night on Disney Channel inside the movie surfers. It was very breef but atleast its something. To be honest i think it is very funny that Pirates has kept such a good rein on things. People do not see that the delay is for making people more demanding about seeing anything. I think when we do see a trailer people will be even more excited. Espeically the impatient fans.

well...I didn't have a problem with the acting...but the writing, and how they filled certain holes in bothered me, but not enough to rip the movie apart. 1. Where was sparrow in the beginning of the movie, how did he know to get the drawing of the key in that place and where was he before being tossed over the cliff in a coffin?
2. Kiera posing as a boy, and playing out the whole ghost woman thing to get them to tortuga.
3. Part from the preview of Will saying "Nevermind lets go!"...was replaced by a whimper of a line delivered differently....poor choice imo.
And...that was it really.

In all seriousness the first two harry potter movies are good, I think the second really lacks imo, but yeah 3 and 4 are when the heat really gets cranked up, and they become imo a great franchise....but they don't have piratest:

I think The Jack Sparrow and Will Turner stuff without Elizabeth were the best parts in both movies. I think The Island stuff , The Wheel stuff and Tia Dalma was better then the Elizabeth trying to get past her wedding night lack there of. Elizabeth was like well hormone crazed. Orlando Geoffrey and Johnny i think like doing the films better. I think Keira is gettinga diva thing and i think its showing.

I have a plot question though has anyone conisdered this option maybe to keep Jack and Will from killing each other on Wills part maybe Liz stabs the heart not realizing that there is a price. So not Will and not Jack. Liz stabbing the heart would be such a surprise and Will and Jack in the 4th will try finding a way to save her. I know again but no one would suspect fishy Liz.

1. Who cares? It's not vitally important that have this information. How did Indy know about the medallion in RotLA? Rather convienent for him to just know about this medallion that he just so happens to need. But, like I said, who cares?

2. She was being a pirate. Her whole character journey in this film is her going from sweet innocent, protected rich girl to a tried and true pirate. Besides, how else was she to get to tortuga? You have to remember the period and the way women were viewed at that time. If your recall the first film, Gibbs says its bad luck to have a woman on board.

3. That line was actually Orlando's recation to messing up the written line and him yelling "Ok LETS GO" trying to get things moving again. His reactiong is better, I agree, but the director said in the commentary that the cut wasn't long enough to put into the movie, so they had to go with what you saw.

How is Jack the monkey, still undead? the curse was lifted, and can only be lifted with all 882 pieces in there. All i can think of is the monkey stealing a piece after the curse was lifted? any body?

That's exactly what happened after the credits of POtC: Curse of the Black Pearl. Jack the monkey stole another piece of gold after the curse was lifted.
