The music in AWE was beyond fantastic. "Calypso" and "I Don't Think Now is the Best Time" are my favorite tracks.
I agree I feel the score was much fuller and improved especially over the first movie. Remember the score for the first one was most likely done rushed at the last minute since it had to replace Alan Silvestri I believe. The music in AWE was beyond fantastic. "Calypso" and "I Don't Think Now is the Best Time" are my favorite tracks.
Official: Pirates 3 Earns $404M in 6 Days Worldwide
Disney's blockbuster hit, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, earned an unprecedented 6-day opening tally of $404 million, it was announced today by Mark Zoradi, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Marketing and Distribution. The film exceeded the weekend estimates with its 6-day final cume, and surpassed the previous opening record of $382 million set by Spider-Man 3 just a few weeks ago.
Domestically, "At World's End" claimed a new milestone with the all-time biggest four-day gross for a Memorial Day (or any holiday) weekend. The film grossed $139.8 million over the four-day holiday period (Friday through Monday) and boosted its cume to a swashbuckling $153 million.
Adding to its status as a box office phenomenon in 102 international territories (on an unprecedented 17,500 screens), Disney's latest "Pirates" adventure sailed into the record books with its opening gross (through Monday) of $251 million. The film posted record-breaking industry openings in 17 territories: Argentina, Ecuador, Holland, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Korea, Latvia, Malaysia, Norway, Panama, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Taiwan, Ukraine and Venezuela. Through Monday, May 28, the film continues to set Walt Disney Studios records in such countries as the U.K. ($34.5 million), Germany ($22.9 million), France ($22 million), Korea ($19.3 million), Japan ($18.4 million), Russia ($15.4 million), Spain ($13.2 million), Australia ($10.5 million), and a consolidated Latin American regional gross of $22.9 million. "Pirates" still has a few markets yet to open including China and India.
Commenting on the announcement, Zoradi said, "'Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End' is truly becoming a cultural phenomenon all over the world and the global box office returns have continued to exceed our expectations and estimates. We're delighted that audiences everywhere are enjoying this epic adventure and clearly spreading the word. Jerry Bruckheimer and Gore Verbinski, along with the spectacular cast headed by Johnny Depp, have delivered a motion picture experience that thrills and satisfies on so many levels. We're ecstatic with this record-setting opening and have tremendous expectations for a long and profitable run."

I actually love the theme of "Hoist The Colors" and how it mixed in with the film score at times.
t:I didn't catch this until the second viewing. That the song was about Calyspo and the first Brethren court. And the whole song itself was a call to reconvene the Brethren court.Yes, I heard it again during the Brethren Court, and at least one of the other tracks.
I read that it was originally written before they started writing the score for DMC. It was written by Gore Verbinski and Hans Zimmer, and Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio wrote the lyrics. An early version of the song was recorded in Zimmer's studio and featured Keira Knightley, Kevin McNally, and Hans' wife Suzanne. Apparently, there was a lot of wine consumed the night they recorded it.![]()
I think the lyrics fit in with the whole Calypso story, a little bit. Just the beginning part about how they "bound the Queen in her bones."
The soundtrack is amazing, I've been listening to it all day.t:
King Arthur has a great soundtrack, had to order it cuz no stores seem to carry it. and yah i definatly picked up on what sounded like almost the same music at some parts, but then again the music from the Pirates movies have always been rehashed themes from other Zimmer scored movies. have to say the electric guitar part was waaaaaaay out of place imoI love the soundtrack, like DE said if you like the first two, you're like this, it also reminds of King Arthur soundtrack (don't no if anyone has it, part from me, lol), well it is the same composer, so...lol
i dont know about anyone elses theaters, but at mine they are showing spidey on 2 screens, shrek on 2 screens, and pirates on only one. i thought that was kind of odd
I couldn't wait for this movie to end.
t: I know the words to 'Hoist the Colours' lol. I didn't catch this until the second viewing. That the song was about Calyspo and the first Brethren court. And the whole song itself was a call to reconvene the Brethren court.
I also got why Beckett said "finally," when hearing the song. He knew what the song meant, that it was a call for the pirates to unite and make their final stand so he could eliminate them all at once.
To me it just reinforces the feeling I had from the second movie that Beckett was a scalawag pirate himself at one point and was in cahoots with Jack Sparrow.
You know I thought of this today
The sowrd Will gets stabbed with is the one he made for James remeber, James got it back in this film and loses it, Davy takes it and then stabs Will with it, so he got stabbed by his own sword poor guy lol Ironic in a way lol
t:Barbossa was one of the pirate lords right?
that doesnt make any sense, in the first movie he was Jacks first mate who led the mutinee, why was he a first mate if he was a pirate lord?
