I watched it again to resolve the question of the heart. So it was really the crew, specifically Will's father, who cut out his heart and put it in the chest. However, I don't believe that's really part of the bargain with the Flying Dutchman. The crew must have decided that's how it would be proven.

In the case of Davy Jones, I think he did that to himself after being stood up in the 1st ten years of his service. When Calypso failed to be where they would meet he turned on her and his duty to ferry souls who died at sea. He then betrayed her more by telling the Brethren Court how to trap her in a human shape. He cut his heart with the intent of banishing his feelings for her, and to protect himself from mortal harm.

However, nothing was said on how Will can quit the Flying Dutchman and return to a normal life. It appears he'll sail on forever until someone dispatches his heart, and then he'll just die.

BTW: it was most fun to watch all those British soldiers get wasted. Haven't had that much fun since that pork roast in the start of 'Swordfish'. And then to watch the British armada turn around like like chickens - satisfying. Really satisfiying.

God, I really didn't like this movie. This and Spider-Man 3 made me wonder if there could ever be another third film in a trilogy that was as good as RETURN OF THE KING was in comparison to the first two films...

The Keith Richards stuff and the stuff in Davy Jones' locker were pretty cool, but I've never been so bored during a massive climactic battle sequence than I was with this film and Spider-Man 3... :(

Lord of the Rings itself was a trilogy, if you exclude the Hobbit book. If the other films were fashioned for that end maybe they'd have developed more resolution.

I loved POTC3. And you know there will be a 4. And knowing there will be a 4th movie and what it is about from the last scene with Jack in 3. Then it will explain how and why Elizabeth didn't age ten years at the very end of 3.

I loved the final battle with the pirates and the navy. This movie just plain rocked IMO.

China Trims The (Chow Yun-) Fat

Chinese audiences will see alot less of actor Chow Yun-fat when Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End premieres in China this week. That is because censors who work for the China Film Bureau have cut many of his scenes.

It is said that half of the Hong Kong film actor’s scenes have been cut out of the film. The reasons given for the cuts? There has not been an elaboration but it is said to be because of violence and horror. Violence and horror. A great reason except that Chow’s reading of them poem The Moon Shining Over the Mountain on the Border by famous Tang dynasty poet Li Bai has also been cut as well.

The final result has made Chow’s entrance into the film very abrupt – confusing audiences. The cuts have also made the entire film very difficult to follow.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest also had its problems in China when it was banned by the Film Bureau due to scenes of cannibalism and ghosts.

Around the World Roundup:
'At World's End' Rules in Third Weekend

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End ruled the foreign box office in its third weekend, raking in an estimated $51.3 million. With $493.5 million total, the supernatural swashbuckler is tracking ahead of Spider-Man 3 through the same point.

In Japan, At World's End crossed the $50 million mark, a feat that took Spider-Man 3 three weeks longer to reach, and is on pace to catch up to predecessor Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest's $84.5 million final tally there. In India, though, Spider-Man 3 dwarves Pirates in the 2007 box office race. In its second weekend there, At World's End tumbled 58 percent to $835,852 for a $4.2 million total, while Spider-Man 3 climbed to $15.5 million through six weeks.

Elsewhere, At World's End's reign over Scandinavia continued. In Denmark, it still leads the country despite the arrival of Ocean's Thirteen and it's by far the highest-grossing movie of the year. Sweden's $7.7 million, Norway's $5.6 million, Finland's $2.7 million and Iceland's $625,088 are also phenomenally high tallies.

I was a little confused as to why Shipwreck Island had to be a Seussical tower of galleons, and why the movie seemed to be vying for an "epic" feel--but was otherwise entertained. Particularly during the wedding on board the Pearl.

Pirates Tops $500M Overseas in Record Time

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End has topped $500 million overseas in a record-setting 20 days, reports Variety.

That feat -- beating by a week the Spider-Man 3 mark for fastest film to reach half a billion dollars in overseas grosses -- underlines the powerful performance of the third "Pirates" pic abroad, with foreign markets supplying two of every three dollars of its worldwide total.

"At World's End" became the 15th film to cross the half-billion milestone Tuesday, thanks partly to an impressive Chinese launch of $1.3 million at 506 playdates in the movie's final major overseas opening.

As of the end of business Tuesday, the "At World's End" foreign total had hit $505.6 million, while the North American total hit $257.7 million, lifting worldwide gross to $763 million -- 21st highest of all time. Domestic performance has declined more quickly than international, with 70% of last weekend's worldwide take of $72 million coming from outside the U.S.

I still didn't get a chance to catch this... that's bad huh? :down
