man i wish AWE came out in IMAX. id see it 3 more times.

I love these movies. They're what the adventure genre is all about.

30 years ago, critics panned the original Star Wars trilogy, now look how high they hold them.

First Bastila, I love your avatar.

Second, yeah the whirlpool sequence would have looked really great in IMAX.

The first two movies were awesome. AWE should not be highly regarded, though.

You do realize RT was not around in the 70s?

Most of the reviews on RT are quite new.

I just went to RT, in fact, and here are the first few reviews listed for Star Wars

Those are just a few of the reviews on RT, all written in the 90s or 2000s, 20 to 30 years after the initial release. In fact, the only review from the 70s I see for Star Wars listed on RT is Roger Ebert's. So yes, actually. Anyway, a while ago someone wrote this article explaining the appeal back in the 70s and 80s and how the films were panned by critics when the first came out(especially ROTJ) but the audience still loved them. I will look for the article in a little bit if you'd like ;)

Yeah I'm aware RT wasn't around there. I took my info from wikipedia where they said 51 of the 54 original reviews yadda yadda.

However, saying Star Wars was "panned" by critics instead of "mixed" reviews are 2 entirely different things. And if you consider Star Wars "panned" than Pirates was "obliterated".

Honestly, I just don't agree with the comparison of Star Wars and Pirates. Star Wars is a phenomenon. Talk to me in 10 years about Pirates "holding up".

Star Wars is definitely better than Pirates. I wasn't even trying to compare them. I was getting to the point that critics views always change.

Alright, aside from Star Wars, what other movies are critics changing their opinion about?
