I don't think so at all. I think it's just his more light-hearted personality shown in contrast to the more serious Avengers. I don't feel that he's coming off as a rank amateur at all. What I do feel is happening is that people are playing pile-on on Bendis.

I love the way Bendis writes Spidey. He's one of the few writers today that can make him funny:up::)

Dude...seriously. He uses the word "booties". TWICE!
What does that have to do with anything? Afterall, that is the correct term for what he wears, isn't it.

Well, that pretty much tells me that you won't care what I think anyway, so we'll just agree to disagree.

I don't know how you come to that conclusion. I've taken a lot of your recommendations and given them a try. I have no problem about agreeing to disagree, but that doesn't mean I don't care what other people think, and frankly, I'm disappointed that you'd say something like that.

Just got this in the mail today. Will spoilerize if anyone is interested (although I won't be online until tomorrow) I'm continuing to love how JMS is writing Spidey as an Avenger.

Me too. It's just so odd to see JMS handle Avengers interaction better than the guy who writes the core title, Bendis.

But this New Avengers arc in ASM is missing one major thing, John Romita Jr.

I like Deodato...but when I'm reading this arc so far I keep thinking or Romita Jr.

I'm going to say what Spiderman wears...is BOOTS. Bootie is a word a 6 year old uses.

I actually thought the bootie comment was funny the first time.

Then Bendis used the bootie line again in # 6 and it just wasn't as funny as the first time.

But what Spider-Man wears on his feet...I don't know if you could call it a boot. It's more like he's putting on a sock than a boot.

I work in research, and on occasion, go to a sterile facility, where you where shoe coverings called.......booties. Every time I have to put them on, I start saying "It's Booty Time!", which elicits either laughs or groans. Being a researcher himself at one time, Peter may have run into this term. Now, personally, I don't think a one-liner(or two-liner in this case) needs that much background to make it acceptable to me, but there it is.

you laugh now but wait until Bendis corners the toddler market. then you'll be singing his name.

It seemed like you were implying I was just jumping on a bandwagon to hate Bendis earlier.

So basically you don;t know what booties are?

Spider-Man doesn't wear boots, and he doesn't wear socks, he wears booties.

I guess every doctor and nurse now is a six-year old:rolleyes:

I think the booty joke adaquately complimented Spidey's nerdiness and humor at the same time:)

Yeah, Pete's a geek who would call his footware by it's techincal term. That Luke Cage is an ex-junkie from the streets who can't tell the simple difference between boots and a bootie. er...booties?

boo·tee also boo·tie
A soft, usually knitted shoe for a baby.
An ankle-length disposable foot covering, used by medical personnel and others in sterile environments.

That actually makes the bootie line funnier. :)

Or maybe that's what everybody thinks and everytime they get him to draw something, they include giant robots  :o

No, it's actually true. Look at the Superboy/Robin parts of his Superman/Batman issue. They look like robots, too.

Oh god, why did I actually take a look at that issue again? His Superman looks horrible as well....:(

Robots, man. They all transformed into robots for an issue. :(

On a tangent, it'd be a funny story if a writer came up with a way to explain why they turned into robots for that issue. :D

I dropped Superman/Batman after that Pat Lee issue. :(
