Is it just me, or does everybody write the New Avengers better than the New Avengers writer? That was pretty entertaining.

Lol, well I'll happily say that Heinburg has at least scored another point for writers crossing over into comics. He can write, understands the charecters, and has a knack for good story telling. I like the Cap/Cage interaction and how Cage is immediately for these "Young Avengers". I can see how his influence will end with Jessica becmoing the team's guide, or at least I think I remember them saying that was how it would go.

Overall, I'll say that this is definately a book that I've been satisfied with every issue of. Were it not for delays (ARRRGH!!!) I think this book could have built a lot more momentum and have a larger reader base right now. As is, I'd be interested in the sales figures. Sales always drop dramatically after the first issue, but with this book being so harshly judged before it came out and then the practically unanimous praise of it afterwards, I'd be interested to see the sales trends for it. I remember that Marvel released the first issue entirely as a preview online, and while I planned on picking it up anyways, I know a lot of people weren't until they got to try it for free. Good plan on Marvel's part. Now if they could just resist releasing huge spoiler covers months in advance we'd be in buisness. Remember how pissed Joss was that Colossus was on the home page on the release day of that issue of AXM? Think of how badly Heinburg must have felt to have his story wth Kate, Iron Lad, and Cassie revealed through one measly cover like 4-5 months in advance.

Marvel takes a lot of crap for caving into Hollywood writers. And in the case of Kevin Smith, and Hudlin, they probably deserve it. But as far as Heinberg, Whedon, and JMS go, they scored big time IMO. More than makes up for the other two. We'll have to see how Bryan Singer fares....

You're right about the delays, though. They don't bother me that much (until the become ridiculous like Secret War, Evil that Men Do, etc.). I don't really know what's coming out until I check right before heading to the LCBS. But that inconsistency really hurts them in sales.

By the way, my little joke notwithstanding, that NA preview does look good. And that Ronin outfit actually looks better than I thought it would. I wasn't a big fan of the Sentry mini (sorry, I've just never been a fan of Jae Lee), and I find myself looking forward to the Ronin storyline more.

bryan singer?eww i never knew jms was a hollywood writer. i knew he did babylon, but i thiought he was working for image comics at the time and crossed over to television. i dunno, about whedon, i really dont find what so fascinating about astonishing x men. good reads. but i think its vastly overrated. only jms has done an awesome job and deserves phraise. but boy did i hate him for what he did to gwen. i will never forget that!!!!

meh, i really like new avengers. i really dont see how the preveiw can be compared to the new avngers ish. yeah so luke stood up for the kids, big whoop. i like jms's take on new avengers tho.

Oh, I like New Avengers, too. It's just that it seems like everyone else who writes them in their own title, seems to write them like I'd like to see it in the main title. Especially JMS. To be fair, though, most of the scenes that I'm talking about, in Amazing and now Young Avengers, are character scenes. If Bendis filled his book with scenes like this, he'd be pilloried for sitting around and talking too much. Maybe saying that they write them better is a bit unfair. What I will say is that other writers have picked up the ball and run with it. And for the most part, they've scored.

That Young Avengers preview was great. Kind of a surprise to see DiVito's art after becoming so used to Cheung, but DiVito's just as good. I liked how Spidey played devil's advocate with Cap.

The New Avengers preview seemed to show Ronin as pretty Murdock-esque to me. DD tends to go well beyond necessary force and beat the living crap out of people, and the dialogue seemed like Murdock's typical hard-ass fare. Maybe a bit more forceful, but that could be chalked up to the new identity. Or, it could just as easily provide some proof that he's not Matt. I agree with euroq, though, Bendis'll probably string it out longer than he has to and provide the revelation of Ronin's ID at the very end of the arc.

that rules out nick fury. and i dont think its iron fists. its probably someone unknown and been unused for some time.

could be, im thinking bendis wants to go in a unpredictbale direction. and have ronin be a lesser known chracter. DD was ruled out and was to obvious. iron fist, maybe itll be cool if he was on the team he and luke can be roomies i really hope it IF, he desperatley needs a better costume.

JMS isn't really a hollywood writer, but has written lots of TV - as well as Babylon 5 - he's written load of cartoons - She-Ra, He-man, the Real Ghostbusters and has also written Murder she wrote and episodes of the Twilight zone

Sorry. But I doubt many people make that distinction. If you had a friend who went off and hit it big on a tv series, and started treating you like crap, you would say that he "went Hollywood." Would people really say to you, "To be fair, he's not in movies, he does tv."?
