Why was Doom in hel wearing his "skin-armor?" That outfit was destroyed in the "Unthinkable" arc. It was just his soul that was sent to Hell after Reed "killed" Ben in the "Authoritative Action" story arc. Sorry just the geek in me, but those were my favorite FF story arcs.

That's dumb. Thor hasn't been Blake since the '80s. I think Blake turned out to be another guy altogether, in fact. I should check my Thor comics for the last word on that, come to think of it...

Yeah, people are taking that 9/11 issue way too personally. Doom represents the worst of the worst; JMS' message is that 9/11 was such a tragedy that even the most cold-hearted bastard would shed a tear for it. End of story.

Loathe though I may be to agree with Unleashed, I'm going to have to agree with Unleashed. I thought the 9/11 issue was very moving as well and I completely see what he was trying to accomplish with that Doom moment, but at the end of the day just rings false and almost manipulative. At the end of the day, the "worst of the worst" would not shed a tear for 9/11, either in the real world or Marvel's.

Of course it's not that big a deal and people whose reading experience was ruined by it should just go and jerk off or something, but to say that it was an honest or symbolic moment is just, well, not very honest.

As far as I'm concerned, the 911 issue is irrelevant to the Marvel Universe, because other than in an unfinished DareDevil mini, it never gets mentioned nor does it garner any type of significance in the Marvel Universe's history.

So chalk it up as a proud "american" moment where Marvel showed the world that life goes on and that America still stands tall & firm in its resolve.

And take that for what it's worth.

That's my take on it as well. It's an out of continuity incident that could've just as easily been in a 9/11 Tribute one-shot as the ASM issue it was published in. 9/11's been referenced in Marvel's comics, but I choose to believe the heroes helped in whatever ways they could and that was that. Take the ASM issue as a romanticized retelling of what really went down.
