MC started to get a personality in 4.. And too be fair if you follow lore... There's a reason he doesn't have much of one. It's pretty much ripped out of him.

Then when they are allowed to actually create spin-offs, they should try to do something different with new main protagonists. But the human main character in ODST, was even quieter and lacked more personality, than the emotionless super soldier.

Which was odd. At least with John, it makes sense, given his background. He was basically raised to be an emotionless killing machine.

The ODST trooper and Noble Six, not so much. I don't even remember the former. One of my friends thought Noble Six was Master Chief, because he only saw me play from midway to the end.

I still think the main series should involve Chief.. He's actually beginning to grow as a character. He talked a good bit in 4 and showed a lot of emotion when it came to Cortana. I'm excite to see where he goes development wise in 5."

Would be interesting to see him as a supporting character. Kind of give a new perspective to his badassness.

But Halo 5 is going for multiple protagonists, so that's probably what we'll get, when we're not playing as him.

chief is to xbox what mario and pikachu are to nintendo.

that's what yakuza 4 did, and i wasn't really a big fan of that. if halo 5 is going to have multiple protagonists, then master chief should still get the majority of screen time.

Eh, they did that with MGS2 and Raiden.. and to this day I still hate Raiden.

Hope PS4 supports external hard drives down the line. As it is now, if I get a PS4, it'll be solely for exclusives since it doesn't have as much space as my X1 with its 3 TB EHD. I might even wait for a 1 TB PS4 to be released before picking one up.

I have no interest in opening up a console and even if I did, I don't like the idea of having a 500G HDD go to waste once I replace it.

Honestly, I don't see it as much of an issue myself. I have a lot of games, but I generally only play a handful at any one time, and installing doesn't take that long.

Provided AAA games don't get bigger than 50 GB, I should be alright. Hopefully most will be smaller.

Though I do find it odd that Microsoft kept the HDD so small for a company championing digital.

it doesn't have to go to waste. You can turn that HDD into an external one

With that said, HDD space is more of a non-issue on the PS4 than it is on the X1. Ask anyone with a system here and the installs are literally superfast. Its very simple to just delete/reinstall games as need be as it takes about 2 minutes to start a game up with everything installing in the background. Its quite interesting tech they have there. You'll only have an issue if you go digital only as your download speed will be the limiting factor, but the Play as you download feature is expected to become standard in the future. I think TLoU was the first title to actually implement that

this. main reason I don't wanna swap hds for my eventual white ps4. 500Gb should be a lot of space anyways, since I don't download a lotta ****

yeah.....when I actually timed it the other week, I was surprised by how fast you can start playing the game.

It's my understanding that the X1 takes much long to install games, or much longer before you can start playing the game, correct?

from what I've heard, it's fairly easy to open up the PS4 to replace the hdd.

also, do you have a PS3 with less than 500 GB? you could always put the PS4's 500 GB hdd into the PS3.

that's what I plan to do.

what's surprising is that MS choose not to let the consumer swap out the internal drive. at least they let you use external drives. would be nice if PS4 supported that, too.............

i thought it was gonna be part of the 2.0 update!

that sounds like a good idea but the thing is you have all that **** on the hard drive of your Ps3 already, it'd be a pain in the ass swapping all of it out, putting it on a temporary drive and swapping it back onto to the then 500GB hard drive inside the Ps3.

and the 2.0 update is coming "soon." :cwink:

well, of course, the more stuff you have on your PS3 ( or PS4 ) the longer/more hassle it will take to backup and transfer.

however, couldn't you just save all of your game and save data to a USB stick?

so, backup your data to a USB stick, swap out the hdd for the new one, then restore the files from the USB stick onto the new drive.

in my case, I don't have much on my PS3 or PS4 right now, so that's why I kind of want to do the upgrade in the near future before the fall flood of games hits.

I'm going digital with my X1 but I'll probably stick to discs for my eventual PS4.

My guess is that before the one-eighty with the DRM, they didn't want people to have easy access to the HDD.

I don't think they're going to bother redesigning the current Xbone at this point to make them removable, but I would expect them to be so on the next model.

the next model......as in the Xbox 2 or whatever the next gen console will be?

or the inevitable slim/redesigned X1?

well I would need a bigass flash drive, the largest i had was a 16GB and I lost it. But nah, I don't think I'll be doing much with it since I'm getting a Ps4 soon I have the big fat 60GB with only like 3GB left but I can't imagine what more I'll put on it knowing that I won't be using it as much you know, why go through the trouble. And generally what is it that makes it necessary for a lot of space? Mandatory game installs or actual games on the HD?
