I think the high amount of space games take up will probably keep me from going fully digital when I get my new consoles. Just installing data on a disc takes up enough space from what I hear.

I never thought that would be an actual problem. I mean, how big was Last of Us to download digitally on the PS3?

I actually didn't buy any other games, except Skyward Sword. I was given a couple of games though.

ah. ok.

well, I just know that I could never buy something like a console for just one game and one game only.

now, maybe that game would be a primary reason for getting the console. but there would have to be other games that I'm interested in.

the only exception I could see is if it's late in the console's cycle, and I can find it used for very cheap ( under $100 ). I might buy the console then if I really, really want to play that certain game.

I remember I bought a used Sega Saturn for like $40 many years ago. Didn't play it much, but was able to play some Saturn games that I missed out on.

I didn't think it'd be a problem until we started seeing games being 40-50, or more, gigs. That would fill up pretty fast if you bought games at a steady pace. Of course, one could just keep deleting and redownloading, but that'd be annoying and time-consuming.

Last of Us for PS3 is 20 something gigs, I think.

yeah. I don't see myself going all digital, either. the only digital stuff will be DLC. maybe a digital game or two if it's an indie title.

besides, I still prefer owning a physical copy so I can trade it in or sell it later on.

fortunately, it seems pretty fast to download from the disc on the PS4.

How long would you say it takes for a game? 20 minutes? An hour?

I honestly haven't really timed it. so I don't want to give a firm answer. I usually just put the disc in, start the download, then go off and do something else and check back later.

I'd say it should be less than an hour. maybe 20-30 minutes? maybe faster?

of course it will depend on the Install size, as well.

I'll time it when I install Last of Us tonight.

downloading digital stuff, though, takes much longer.

You can start playing from disc almost instantaneously. It's been 1-2 minutes from my experience

I just want more than indie games...seriously...PSN is flooded with crappy indie titles

so I just installed Last of Us from the disc.

At 50 GB, it took about........2 minutes!! :wow:

Told you, fast. Although it didn't completely install in 2 minutes. It happens in the background while you play. Its very unintrusive so you don't notice it at all. Its why I think people need to relax about HDD space. Unless you are going mostly digital, its very easy to just delete and reinstall from disc to accommodate more space. The PS4 is able to manage this very efficiently

yeah. I hadn't realized it was that fast.

how fast is it to install from disc on the X1?

and yeah, I think if I just get a 1 TB hdd, that should be ample space for my needs, and I'll never have to worry about space.

and if it's this fast to install games, I think I might be able to wait for a better deal come BF time. cuz all I'd really have to transfer are my game saves, and that should be easy.

Sony killing PlayStation Mobile on Android

We know this is going to hurt for a few folks out there, so we'll make it quick like ripping off a band-aid: PlayStation Mobile is over. It's dark times, for sure, but Sony will end PlayStation Mobile support after Android 4.4.2. Access and re-downloads on 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 will be up to publishers. Support groups will be held every Tuesday and Thursday at your local Sony store. Ask the manager for specific times.

Sony is shifting PlayStation Mobile support resources to PS Vita and Vita TV. Given that PlayStation Mobile was an antiquated model, we'd toss in the very real possibility of PlayStation Now support being in that mix as well.
