The Official Pyro/St. John Allerdyce Thread.

Yes I remember you mentioning what you had for his past before. Very sad. :csad: Poor Pyro. I don't suppose there is any way he could have had a happy family background, is there?
Well, I was working off the idea in X2 that he came fom a broken home. That's what the scene in Bobby's house, where Pyro glares into the family photo, was meant to indicate.

Oh, I know that's likely what they were indicating but they don't come out and say his dad beat him or whatever. Could be that his family died in an accident, possibly involving his powers (which would add a sense of guilt to that scene).

Oh, sorry ToriL90 that scene you wrote there just does not sit right with me. I don't see those characters being like "oh, well... he's where he belongs." Xavier especially, I'm sure he realizes how dangerous Pyro can be under the wrong influence. Even if he didn't really like the kid much, I can't see him handing Magneto a loaded gun (or flamethrower in this case) for him to use against the Xmen and humans alike. He would definitley make an effort to get the kid back. Perhaps that's why Magneto kept Pyro out of the scene at Jean's house? He knew Xavier would show up with the others and try to rescue both Jean and Pyro??

And I can't recall Bobby's reaction but I remember Rogue definitely looked upset when they realized where John was.

That's another possibility, but I prefer going with the darker past. :cwink: Unfortunately, a lot of kids come from abusive homes - it's just that most kids aren't human flamethrowers. :oldrazz:

Xavier's been trying for years to influence Pyro. He knows that it won't work. Now that Pyro's found a home, the chances of reaching him are completely non-existent, as opposed to what it used to be: virtually non-existent. :oldrazz:

Not that the scene i wrote couldn't use a little tweaking - I'm sure it could. I was just saying that any discussion of Pyro probably would've gone something like that. Pyro was a lost cause for Xavier, and he always was. As powerful as Pyro is, how long would you spend trying to reach the unreachable?

And I can't recall Bobby's reaction but I remember Rogue definitely looked upset when they realized where John was.
Of course they were upset - they just lost a friend, and they know they'll never get him back.

I think I had a knee jerk reaction of it not sitting right with me mainly because it's immediately after X2. Of course, they can't be expected to try to get him back forever but they should/would have tried to get to him once they'd had a chance to regroup. I think they considered him a troubled kid, not necessarily a lost cause at that point. And of course I still have a serious issue with Charles handing Magneto a loaded flamethrower like this. But I guess we'll have to just agree to disagree here. ;)

RE: Abusive homes, I know it's not uncommon and not uncommon to have that be Pyro's background in stories, and that may very well be the writer's intent. However, I think there's something SO tragic about having him in a home where he was loved only to have it ripped away from him - either through his own (unintentional) doing or through some means other than having his parents be monsters. I'm working with this idea in the Pyro origin story I'm writing and I'm very fired up (if you'll pardon the pun :whatever: ) about the ideas I have for this (for one thing, Pyro's father is a mutant who is very supportive of his "gift"). Now, if only I can get my act together and get the thing written. lol

Fine with me. :) I'm not that firm on them not trying again - just letting you know my train of thought.

Sounds interesting. Are you writing it into a movie script, or just writing a story on Pyro's background?

It'll be posted on fanfic.net when I'm ready to share it. It seems like a couple people here like yourself do movie scripts. I don't mean to sound really cynical but are people writing Xmen scripts for the fun of it or because they really think they'll get greenlit? Because I don't see the studio doing that for a fan written script unless the writer is a well known screenwriter as well (I guess I am really cynical here. lol sorry... ) Anyway, I'm wondering what the draw is to writing Xmen scripts.

Nah, I just have fun doing it. Sure, I'll probably send the script to the appropriate people when I'm done, but I really don't expect anything to come of it. I mean, I would sooner expect Storm herself to swoop into my living room and make rain fall from the ceiling before I'd expect anything to happen with my script. :oldrazz: But it's fun to write, so I enjoy writing it. :)

Oh, good now I don't feel so bad about being cynical. lol

I know it's fun playing with the characters. :word:

Speaking of which, I could use some help with casting, so to speak. It's just helpful with OCs and younger versions of characters to "cast" them to help with visualization while writing them.

Anyway. who could play a young John? Say in the 11-13 range? What about John's parents (in early to mid thirties). I have Rachel Weisz in mind for his mom at the moment and for dad I have David Wenham (I wanted an Aussie because I was going to make his dad an Aussie to link him to the Comics character a bit :oldrazz: ). Anyway, any other ideas? What do you think of these picks?

I really have no ideas as to who should play young Pyro or his parents. In my script, his mother doesn't even appear; and young Pyro (15 yo) and his father appear in only one scene and not in a speaking role (silent flashback). Since you've got them in bigger roles, I like the idea of an Aussie playing Pyro's father. :)

Okay. I think I've pretty much decided on those anyway. Glad you liked the idea of an Aussie for his dad. I really wanted to find ways to connect him to the comic Pyro without it being totally movieverse AU.

I like connections like that. I'm glad Pyro's American, but it's nice to make a nod to his comic counterpart that way. In my X4, we meet Colossus' mother, a little old Russian immigrant who calls her son by his full name, "Poitr", instead of the nickname he took on when his family moved to America, "Pete". :)

Update on the fate of Aaron's show "Traveler". TNT's contact information is that bottom.

If you want to save traveler, forget ABC. The show is all but dead to them. Fans are trying to appeal to TNT to reair the episodes in hopes of gaining a large enough following to make a second season, or at least a movie to end it. If you love Traveler, please donate a few dollars to the "Chips campaign." We are planning on sending massive amounts of potato chips to TNT to help get our point across. All donations are secure through paypal. Any amount will do - no matter how small. Every little bit helps!! See how to make your donation at:

http://porters-and-soldiers.com/catalog.0.html.0.html

Chips will be sent out to TNT before September 19th. Also don't forget to email TNT at [email protected] and tell them how much you love the show. Another mass attack email date will take place on September 7th, but send an email every day if you want to! And keep signing the "Save Traveler" petition even though it's wasorginallymeant for ABC, not TNT. You can sign more than once with the same email address, just change the name that you use. Sign it for everyone you know! The more signatures we have, the better it looks for us!!!

Finally, go to the TNT web site andregister at the TNT message board. Post a message about how much you love the show. There is a Traveler discussion going on under the "Other series" subforum. It will help show them that we are interested in their network and show them how much wesupport the show.

Too bad Aaron's show got cancelled. Traveler starts here tonight, and from the previews, it looks pretty cool.
What was the reason the show was cancelled?

ABC said they were disappointed with the low amount of viewers and with storyline which i think is such a load of crap.

Traveler is a great show and I think everyone should watch it. :)

Yeah, I just watched the first episode, and was intrigued. It looks like a great mystery-action show.

Yea. It's really awesome. I hope you enjoy watching the rest of the episodes. :)

Hey everyone. I got a real quick favor to ask, and you don't have to do it, but;

I don't know if this was posted in the Pyro appreciation thread, but a member had asked for downloadable videos of every one of Pyro's appearances in X2 in which another member posted links to where those videos could be downloaded and my favor is very similar to that, only whoever it was that posted those links (or anyone who wants to do it) could you possibly upload all of Pyro's appearances in X3?

I'd gladly make you a graphic of some sort for my gratitude. It's just I'd love Pyro's appearances in X3 so I could make a music video.

:) Thanks a lot!
