I just came back from seeing the film and paid close attendtion to Pyro's fate. I didn't get the impression that he died at all. After the lame headbutt the shot cuts away and that's the last you see of him. However, there is plenty of time for him to have recovered and escape before Jean starts her demoluculizing. Even if he was still there-I'm think Jean just hit what was in her sight like the X-Jet, Quills, Archlight, Psylocke , random army guys etc..

In other words there were plenty of 'outs' for him. I'm sure if they wanted to kill him off they would have made a point of showing it (like they did with Quills et al.)

The X-Men just flee the scene. They just run. Pyro could be dead but I really think they would have made it obvious, like they do with Quill etc..You don't even see him hit the deck. Just headbutt then cut away. The person I saw it with didn't get the impression he died either
