The Avengers The official "Remember when...." Thread

People thinking that the Nazi's didn't exist in the MCU and the U.S. fought WWII against Hydra.

Remember when Channing Tatum was up for Captain America?
You gotta give him credit .
He keeps trying.

/\ This is why WB made the worst choice possible by ditching Whedon's 'Wonder Woman', kinda wonder if part of him is going, "hmm, should have listened to me" right about now lol. (Read the script, trust me, it was epic!)
Where can I read Whedons WW script ?
I have been searching for it for a long time .

Racial tensions over the casting of Heimdall that made the Travon Martin case look like a serious episode of Family Matters.

Mickey Rourke visiting Russian prisons to study his role as Justin Hammer's IT guy.

Remember when we thought whiplash would be in a giant mechanical walker thing in im2?
Or that namor was in captain america

Or how everybody thought the USO scene was going to be awful.

Remember all the parrots squawking, "Cinematography! Cinematography! Cinematography!" at every opportunity, while their pals moaned about the movie being filmed in 1:85:1 instead of scope. And that, they claimed, was why The Avengers was going to look like a bad SyFy Channel movie that would embarrass us all until the end of time (or December 21, 2012, whichever comes first).

This thread is giving me nostalgia. I hope we see the same people (and more!) in the SHH Phase 2 threads.

remember nude hulk, or hulk with chest hair like burt reynolds

I'll be there. I was here when IM was in preproduction and I'll be here as long as the MCU exists. Or I die. whichever comes first.

remember when favreau asked people on his myspace page about their casting choices for all major characters?

Man oh man do I remember that, it's not even like it was a case of staying true to the comics it was just people being ignorant.

Hey, I still say that Hugh Jackman is too tall!

Maybe not in general... but for being Wolverine. :woot:

That maybe true, but he's an awesome Wolverine so I can look over the height discrepancies. :word:

Jackman was good. He was really good.

But not perfect.

The reasons why he wasn't perfect are...

- He's too tall.
- He's too good looking.
- He's a little bit too nice.

But apart from that, he was really good.

I don't know, he pulls off being an ******* pretty well as Wolverine and if the films weren't PG-13 I'm sure he'd be alot meaner.

It would have been fun to see a darker X-Men movie, or perhaps that his origins movie would have been darker.

I remember when us Thor fans thought his strength was going to get short changed in The Avengers, I think we can all sleep a little bit better now :woot:

Okay, being a little bit too nice isn't Jackman's fault...

But he's really too good looking. Jackman ist considered one of the sexiest men alive, something that Wolverine shouldn't be.

Of course it's right that a character like Wolverine has some female fans. But IMO the actor who plays Wolverine shouldn't be more attractive than the actor who plays Gambit.

(In the case of Magneto, it's vice versa. McKellen did a great job too, but somehow I feel that women find Magneto from the comics a more handsome man than McKellen is.)

Remember when someone said he would consider a boycott of the Avengers film because Captain America is too much in the background`on a poster?

BTW, did this really happen? Or was that in one of my bad dreams?

Yay, one of the few memories that I was actually here for. ;)

Seems like I missed out on some fun angst before I found this place.

1. Worrying if Jane wouldn't be referenced in the film

2. Labeling Kevin Feige as the Devil Reincarnated

3. Worrying about how Joss would tweak the screenplay during when they were filming.

4. Calling Loki too small of a foe to bring the avengers together due to Thor having already defeated him

5. Redacted

Remember the whole Captain America Rotten Tomatoes fiasco?

Remember when it was called The First Avenger: Captain America?

Also...

That moment when Tony Stark is suddenly in The Incredible Hulk and s**t got REAL. O_O
