Comics The Official ROGUE Discussion Thread

CanCan: It's okay. Change is GOOD.

Darth: I think I'm in love with CanCan.

CanCan: Too bad, I'm in love with Gambit.

Darth: ...I already knew that.

Queen: ROFLMAO.

So when are you going to admit your love for me too?:woot:

CanCan may have kissed other women, but he's only loved me. LOL :cwink: Where in the South are you from may I ask?

I don't think you'd see someone's belly button through spandex. They do that with all the ladies, not just Rogue. There's a cover of X-Men by Larrocca in which Gambit has a pretty small waist for a dude. But yeah, he wouldn't be a linebacker as is seen half the time. He was always on the run so, yes, he did get his daily dose of strenuous exercise before he met the X-Men. Poor Rogue, this is her thread and most of my post is about Gambit.

I'm from right next to Portland, Oregon in Washington.

He's from HELL.

Well, YEAH. X-ladies - the grown up ones anyway - are basically drawn like pornstars wearing spandex.

Of course we're gonna see belly-buttons and ass cracks. The whole point is to go all the way with the aforementioned pornstar concept. :woot:

Well, i had a thought today concerning Rogue's powers

Since Scarlet Witch with a single phrase "No more mutants" managed to depower almost everyone, couldn't she say "Rogue has control" and be everything ok?

It's so simple :word:

I know; it should be that simple. Why can't the Scarlet Witch be a good girl and reverse what she did? I don't know what the X-boys were thinking when they came up with the whole M-Day/Decimation thing.

They were thinking taht if DC is gonna do a big INFINITY thingee that Marvel needed a BIG THINGEE to match.

Here's an even simpler one:

*Rogue puts on the power dampener that Forge constructed for her*

The end.

...can we not even bring this subject up again? I've already ranted on this for like two pages a couple weeks ago. It's ridiculous and hypocritical that while Rogue can't gain some outside aid in controlling her powers, every male hero who "can't control theirs" has.

Yeah, but Rogue not giving us the 'my powers suck so bad' speech every year or so... well, it's not really Rogue anymore, is it??? :wow:

Yeah, but that just might be another example of how comic writers have put more stock into the development of their male characters than their female characters. They are long overdue to give Rogue a solution to her uncontrollable power. Where is that power inhibitor from Forge anyway?

The reason Rogue hasn't gained control is because Marvel thinks the pathos she gains from such a "curse" is an integral part of her character. Then there's the sexual subtext of "the untouchable woman" too.

I'm with you on that. They need to stop using that as a character crutch and come up with some better ideas than having her be the untouchable woman. Carey's working on that. I haven't seen her whine about her powers for a while.

Part of the reason I stopped liking her was because of her inceassent complaining about them and her utter lack of progress or even effort at controlling them. Having her learn control would be an improvement for the character (Gambit should pass on a reconciliation though.)

You forget that if she didn't have them, then she wouldn't have a bloody reason to throw all those goddamn tantrums/hissy fits and *get away with it.*

Why, man, I'm disappointed. :woot:

Well, I didn't want to upset Emmy, but yeah. Rogue wouldn't be able to get away with *half* the stuff she does if she duidn't have that "curse" as a Get Out of Jail Free card.

Rogue's lack of control gives her a necesary weakness, bc she becomes potentially too strong without them. Writers havent paid too much attention to it in recent years, but before, Rogue would not use her powers too frequently bc of the effects to herself and her victims. That kept her in check. Without it, she would be touching anyone, any time without fear
