The Official 'SAW IV' Thread

couldnt post early , i was busy in class...but im ****ing pissed about the lack of spoiler tags on the ending...im not even gonna spend my money now...thanks alot.

i actually like the movies more with every one. when the first came out i was in awe about it because the ending blew me away. the 2nd i wasnt' impressed with but i saw it again recently and i have to say i like it a lot more now. and part 3 to me is by far the most interesting to watch. obviously therre isnt' much in the way of the detectives figureing out the puzzle, but that's not the point. i watched part 1 yesterday and i can honestly say i enjoy them more with every one that comes out. i'm seeing saw 4 tonight but i'll save my final judgement for this movie until the extended nc-17 edition comes out on dvd a year from now.

I don't know what people were talking about this movie sucking. This movie is awesome. Its better than the rest of this crap coming out of the industry.

The ending was excellent.

I'm curious what the ending actually was. I don't really care if you spoil it for me or not. Anyone?

^ These movies will never flop. This is the new age 'A Nightmare on Elm Street.' People love these movies.

Yes, just as soon snowballs fights are going on in hell; and those series where never anywhere near SAW level to begin with, quality or success.

That comparison is about as absurd as people that are shortsighted enough to insist that films (SAW III in particular) have nothing to offer but violence.

Oh, and btw.

Hoffman is NOT the new Jigsaw, if that's what you thought by the end of the film, than you missed the actual twist.
The entire point of showing the autopsy scene at the end was to establish that Hoffman was indeed NOT the new Jigsaw, and that we would find out who was in the next film as they tested him.
I was thinking the samething on that issue *spoiler*. I might have to see it again. I agree this movie will make its budget by weekend and then some.

You'll still see it so don't kid yourself, and ya make it sound like its the end of the world by not using spoilers. Movie is out now so go see it its not bad at all. Just future reference to avoid the little spoilers is to avoid the thread all together until after you've seen it.

Yeah, the people that keep saying...

"Oh it was just so obvious that Hoffman was going to be the new Jigsaw! People have been predicting it since SAW III!!!"

They're exactly right, and Darren and company knew that too, hence why they went with the swerve ending that they did making the audience believe it's going to end how they thought it would all year only to flip it around on them in the final scene.

The SAW III director's cut even furthers the suspicion on Hoffman to set the audience up for it.

Copying my review from another site:
Being a huge fan of the first three films, I had a little lower expectations coming into watching "Saw IV."

"Saw IV" is a great movie, like the first three. But out of the four, it's definitely the weakest. But it might be the goriest one, with a couple of new traps that are pretty shock-inducing and pretty amazing at the same time.

The first three did a good job of closing plot holes and opening new ones. You can tell after watching IV that they are getting ready to close and end this franchise somewhere. But there will definitely be a Saw V.

It does leave some plot holes from Saw III still open at the end of the movie. But some very interesting developments occur.

Possibly the most important thing we learn in IV is the origin of Jigsaw, why he is what he is. It's quite tragic, and very sad.

A well done movie, but again, missing plot holes and leaving ones unsolved or unexplained weaken the movie. It's still worth watching.

Even though my expectations were lower coming into this one than compared to II and III, I still love the movie, even though it has its faults. It definitely beat my expectations, though. The greatest horror series of this decade is still great, but this one is at the bottom of the list.

8/10

I guess you can call the saw movies that.
They are very 80s in the sense that they keep going.
But overall they are widely different.
The saw moveis have better
kills
plot
acting
Well everything is better than those others horror 80s movies that had mulitply movies.

just saw the movie... as always i have a few questions... starting with:

Why did the detective take jigsaws place?

If the most psychologically and emotionally driven of the III (the first was the least in both departments) is your idea of "bad enough," yes indeed.

But the thing is, it wasn't. It got preachy and tried to pass that as psychological and emotional, but when you delve deep, it is neither. It is simply a slasher movie that relies on the heavy gore to sell, no better than Hostel.

......i'm just gonna pretend Saw 1 & 2 are the only saws that were made.

This movie was good at best. I thought it was better than 3, but that doesn't mean I really liked it. For some reason these movies are starting to seem more like television shows than anything else. I do agree the twist was really, really huge. I was pretty surprised. But, it'll never surpass that moment every saw fan remembers;
seeing the dead body in the first saw rise up, revealing that HE was the jigsaw. Damn that was great!
So yeah.....i'd give it a 7/10. It was weak. Although I actually broke a sweat when watching
the hair pulling scene.
But after that, the traps weren't that great and the 2nd to last twist just didn't make sense and felt very rushed.

damn, just saw it, soooo suprised, I went in with low expectations and left hoping V will be awesome.

I went and saw SAW IV tonight. I must say, it was tamer than I expected.

Still, I absolutely LOVED the realization that

it was all taking place during SAW III! Very cool idea. I also don't think that Hoffman is an "apprentice", but rather, just playing the game. Also Wahlberg's death was pretty sick.

Looking forward to what happens in V & VI under new direction.

Also, I thought Bousman's transitions from scene to scene in this one were awesome. Very cool little tricks he pulled there.

very interesting movie, definetly sets up a 5th movie. definetly worht it if you actually like the other movies

I am TOTALLY confused.

how is Jigsaw in the morgue and in the room he died in.
I must have missed something in the timeline. was all this going on at the same time that saw 3 was happening?

also the most annoying thing ever was the computer generated blood everywhere.

*spoiler* saw 3 and 4 happen at the same time. just after lynn is killed in front of jeff the detective comes into the room and shoots jeff out of defense
i really liked the movie, but there are a few things that aren't cleared up that i thought were suppossed to be:
1: where was obi? his relation to john wasn't explained
2. the envelope that amanda had, still no idea what was written there
3. the glass box, i saw a picture of a guy in it, but it's empty in the movie *spoiler*

anybody have saw 4 pictures of the guy in a clear box? looked like ice or glass?

I had such low expectations that I actually allowed myself to enjoy watching this movie. Maybe it's because I'm not huge Saw fan, despite watching all of the previous films and getting to know the story and the characters.

I guess some people take the franchise more seriously than others..
