The Official 'SAW IV' Thread

Hmm, good question. I'm going to say no he wasn't captured. If anything he made it look like he was captured. You notice that the chair did go into the water and nothing happened.

Don't know. He had to have gotten out since the body of Jigsaw was still in pretty good condition. So it's possible that both he and Strahm got out out of the room.

Yeah, but then Hoffman would be in jail, right? Rigg knows that he's envolved.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to catch SAW IV again. I didn't see that part where his chair goes into the water.

Who do you think Jigsaw has planned to take his place? To test Hoffman?

Well, you have to remember now, Strahm didn't see Hoffman close the door on them and Riggs may still be considered someone who is an accomplice to Jigsaw. Remember Strahm and Perez thought Riggs was being recruited to carry on John's legacy.

So chances are they'll think Riggs was involved. It would be Hoffman's word against Riggs. You also have to remember he accidently caused Eric Matthews to be killed.

as for Jigsaw's apprentice? In a perfect world I'd hope that Dr. Gordon would be the real accomplice. But you never know and that's what makes it exciting and interesting.

Hmm. Makes sense to me that everybody would be against Rigg if he did survive this one. Hope he did.

Yeah, I mean who else could it be? It has to be someone we know, which only leaves Dr. Gordon. Or Det. Matthews son, Daniel, but I doubt it, or Jill. But we got a whole new creative team now, so they'll most likely have alot of new character for the last two.

first question is who was that standing behind hoffman when he gets "kidnapped"? the person standing in the pig costume.
second question what happened to riggs wife? she didnt get kidnapped or anything? :( usually jigs gets the entire family involved. :o

I'm guessing it was Art.

She left, about it for her.

It was just a costume and nothing more. No one captured Hoffman.

I don't know about Riggs' wife. She just left to check on her mom, I guess.

I loved Saw, thought Saw II was alright and then loved Saw III but this one was just...eh. Saw III wrapped everything up too nicely and this Saw was just one movie too much.

What's always made the first three Saw movies so interesting was, more than anything else, the complicated plot lines that somehow managed to weave together so perfectly with a killer ending twist. This is where Saw IV falls off the mark, because by the time that the plot weaves together the entire thing has just become confusing and cluttered as hell, while the realism of the scenario has completely gone out the window. This is only worsened by the disappointment of the end twist; after three fabulous twists in the previous movies, the twist in this movie actually leaves you rolling your eyes.

They should have stopped at Saw III.

I agree with you 100%. This one was a serious stretch at the end. I think the writers/producers at this point are milking the cash cow for all it's worth. IMO the ending was very sloppy and lazily written. Much of it was enjoyable though. Tobin Bell is great and I love his low-key approach.

I just for some reason think the new jiggs is gonna be someone who had a small role in one of the films. I would love to see dr.gordon be the new jiggs, but I would'nt put it past them for it to be Riggs or Rigg's wife :)
Kindof a reversal test, riggs puts himself thru a series of tests to be only really testing Hoffman to see if he's capable :)
Rigg's wife, kindof of ominous that she told him "you can't save everyone",and she left.
However; like one poster said its a new creative team,im sure they will make it interesting....
I also would'nt put it past them to bring back Danny Glover as a potential suspect, they can always explain away him getting shot by Zepp..

Hmm. Interesting. I kinda agree with your about Rigg. He was listening to John pretty well, and he put on the mask to kidnap Ivan. John was teaching him, Rigg, if you think about it.

I have to say that the ending of SAW IV is epic as well.

Seeing Hoffman rise from the chair and walk to where Strahm was with the theme playing set off a realistic epic vibe for me. He just looked so badass, cold, and detached as he looked at Strahm before he shut the door.

Why does SAW V have to be so far away? :csad:

I know! Only a year away though.

Hell yeah, I agree, Hoffman just looked so sinister. I wonder what he has in mind. I wonder if SAW V will be Hoffman trying to find this 'Jigsaw' that John has to carry on his work. Its gonna be really interesting. And then, did you see the look on his face when he asks for the tape that was in John's stomach? And when he hears the message?

The look on his face said it all too. Once he realize that he wasn't going to get away he became afraid. All that confidence, all the corruption, and lies left him immediately when Jigsaw mentioned he would be tested.

If you had to choose what was the most emotional scene for you?

The most emotional scene for me was watching what Matthews went through during his six months. Seriously, out of all the characters in the series, he went through the most hell and he deserved a happy ending in my opinion. It was sad seeing him literally being kept in a prison like an animal, fed like an animal, and watching him bond with rats was heartbreaking too.

I'd have to agree with you on that one. Det. Matthews was my favorite character in the series, or he is my favorite character in the series. He did deserve a happy ending, after all he had endured, just seeing Rigg going through the door and Matthews trying to save himself, was really upsetting. Matthews is like the longest lasting character, in the traps, and I wanted him to see his son again. Plus, he did get out of the room he was chained in, and deserved to live on. He showed that he was appreciative of his life. I hope Daniel gets some revenge, or someone gets some revenge for Matthews.

so pretty much he became jigsaw because of his unborn childs death

i think it made him realize what had to be done. i saw it again tonight and enjoyed it alot more the second time around. saw 4 is awesome.

It's interesting to see where this story is going to take place. Judging by SAW IV, there are different paths they can go with this. I think the problem is a lot of people expect the next SAW's to live up to the first, second, and third film.

Maybe not so much the films themselves, but they feel the twist endings should surpass the other. Which isn't possible because all of the twist endings in the first three SAW'S came unexpectedly for me. ESPECIALLY the first one.

I can see how people would assume Hoffman is the new Jigsaw. We saw how strange he was acting in SAW III, we see how he shows no reaction to Kerry being dead, how nervous he gets when Perez and Strahm figure out Kerry's trap, and so forth. So they went with the ending fooling people int believing he was the new Jigsaw.

^ Yeah, the only Jigsaw is John Kramer! The others, Amanda and Hoffman, are just kinda like puppets. I think John has one true successor, waiting to be revealed.

i think a good way to end the series is you have a cop who finds out the big reveal at the end and you think he is screwed but then it turns out he has outsmarted jigsaw and the accomplice , that would be a good twist.

^ Yeah, I'd like someone to finally outsmart Jigsaw and whoever the hell else is working with him. I'd like one of the main characters to finally pass a test.

Yeah, I think someone finally outsmarting Jigsaw or overcoming his test would be a perfect way to end the series.

The ultimate surprise twist for me would be Dr. Gordon being the Jigsaw apprentice. Seriously there's more to Dr. Gordon's fate than what they're letting on. We never see him die, we never see his body, and nothing is mentioned about him except a few references here and there.

I'm almost inclined to believe that it was Dr. Gordon at the beginning of SAW II who put the key in Michaels eye. Jigsaw, Amanda, and Hoffman couldn't have surgically placed a key behind Michaels eye and stitch up nicely. If you notice that person was also limping too.
