Apocalypse The Official Sophie Turner/Jean Grey Thread - Part 2

Happy to see so much positive feedback about Sophie! Jean has been my favorite character since I was a little boy haha

Everyone also judged from her somewhat whiny and muted performance on GoT, so I'm glad she seems to have been warmly received. Singer always has tried to do right by Jean so I'm glad he's done so here it seems.

Yes, she was really good, despite the complaints before the movie about her accent, her body, her Englishness, her lank hair, etc...

Wish it was opening weekend here in the states already but thanks for all the info guys. I am pumped.

Happy that they didn't show her powers from the trailers. It's like they purposely hid it and then once you watch the movie....BOOM! In your face AMAZING! Highlight of the movie.

Her American accent didn't really bother me. I enjoyed her performance.

Her scenes with Scott at the mansion and helicopter were nice.

it's weird that critics are going both ways with Sophie

some say she's the breakout star, the highlight, powerful, etc
while others say she's wooden, unemotional, boring, and bad at the American accent

I can see widely differing opinions on a film, but such extremes over one performance is weird

Sophie was incredible. She was acting so much better than on Game of Thrones, I was truly positively surprised. Jean was the biggest highlight of the movie, and without a doubt the best character.

Totally agree with you 100%

It will be interesting to have a poll to see how the entire board feels about each character from the movie. I'm curious to see who on here DOESN'T like Sophie's Jean, and whether the praise for the young cast is unanimous.

But god she was incredible. I bought her bond with Xavier and Scott so much.

I haven't seen much in the way of critics that outright dislike her. There are some critics that feel the newbies in general don't get enough time.

It wasn't tooo many of the reviews, but a few I read said she was "miscast", "wooden", or (slightly more positively) just underserved

She was amazing. From the very first scene to the last, you can say she stole the movie.

She nailed it. From the very first scene you can tell she's confident in showing off her powers even if sometimes they scare her.

She was amazing. Tuly. There is both confidence and fear in her. She is proud of her power but afraid of what that power can do. Honestly, i know Scott is the leader of the x men but in this movie jean just crushed them all. I loved her first scene how she just caught all her papers without a second thought. She is definitely the future of this franchise. Also she was clearly the female lead of the movie far more then JLaw.
