I'm not a big fan of the "costume changes" Mostly because, well, he barely has a change of costume. It's a lot like the change of Spiderman's costume over the years- it's remained the same, but yet still changed drastically with different artists. Sure there's been, what, 2 or 3 official event costume "changes" but the first one was simply giving him a bigger right boot and gauntlet, and the one that happened in 150 was just making him slightly more corpse looking. As 150 went on and now we're again at a fairly new direction, he looks even more like a zombie- the design is pretty much the same though. And to be honest, if I had to pick between the rotting, more mangled version we have now and the original sleeker superhero looking thing, well, I like the original.

This is about as different as he looks, where he was again slightly redesigned for the current Apocalypse new world deal storyline going on:

This is basically just Spawn given a mouth.. it's essentially an organic, zombie version of the Necro cop design.. so it's not like it's anything new or original:

vs the more traditional earliar designs seen in the thread before.

My favorite images of the character have always been ones like this, where he is largely in shadows, so these minimal details won't really matter either way:

I really like the new design, I want to get that figurine so badly. But I do like the kept in shadows look, I want them to do a new movie but start over the first was bad besides John Leguizamo as Clown, he was perfect and the special effects were bad but they were cool as hell.

I don't know how old the interview is on the 10th Anniversary DVD of the HBO series that was released this year, but Todd claims their making a sequel to the film more in the vain of the animated series. Spawn is a great character that was the victim of over exposer in the late 90's, to use another poster's metaphor, he is like the indie band that sold out comparable to the likes of Bad Religion, Rancid and Green Day, all over exposed and all churning out over polished crap.

Right, and the bad thing is most of the stuff that the character was connected with was bad. besdies the comic itself and the animated series (which I've never seen but heard good things about it). the movie was decent best as mentioned above was the clown and the cool but bad special effects.

i wouldn't be surprised if they wanna do a Spawn remake/sequel a la Punisher: Warzone and The Incredible Hulk.

I heard they were actually doing this, with actor Henry Simmons as the lead, but I did read this on Wikipedia so it might not be true.

Spawn was always a big guy anyways, I never liked Micheal J. White as spawn from the getgo just for that fact(plus he cant act worth a ****)..
I prefer spawn to be bigger than the average man, Im sure they can find a brother who fits this role,and who can act .

I really don't see where Mjw Failed. Honestly you don't really need a degree in art to play Spawn. The character is easy to do unless you have a sissi voice which Is not the problem of MjW. Everyone has his opinion and mine is stop blaming an actor every time a movie fail. Blame the writer or the director!

I agree MJW wasn't the problem, whoever "wrote" that script. What the writer failed to see is Spawn is a Horror comic masked as a superhero comic. Spawn is a boogyman figure not a crime fighting crusader, more Micheal Myers than he is Superman.

I Agree! I really don't know what s going on with Spwan 2 but if I can give them an advise for the next one they should focus on the horror part. But knowing Hollywood it wont happen. They gonna try to make Spwan like spider man so they can do a lot of money. It s gonna be PG13.
