The Official Stupid Question Thread: Marvel Edition - Part 3

I don't believe for one second Matt Murdock is only 28-30. The man is a lawyer with years of experience, even in Marvel time. The time it takes to finish law school and prepare & pass the bar exam alone would place him around 28 if he was a fresh rookie.

I know a couple of people that passed the bar and practiced law by their mid 20's. Granted, they don't own their own practices like DD does but it's not all that impossible.

Xavier and Magneto's ages and backstories have never been changed by Marvel's sliding timescale. Charles Xavier's backstory still has him a Korean War veteran, and Magneto's is still that he was an adult Holocaust survivor. That's make them around 80+ and 90+ respectively. However, they have in-universe reasons for only being in their 40's physically: Lilandra cloned Charles a younger body so they could get frisky, and Magneto has had his body de-aged a few decades.

They fall in the same category as Frank Castle. He recently had the Bloodstone imbedded in his chest which reversed the aging effects on his body, he's still been around for a long time. The Red Skull is the same, he has used several cloned bodies from Steve Rogers' DNA over the years.

Why? People generally accept Batman as being as old as 40. Why can't Daredevil be?

I just envision DD being no more than 35. I don't know if I could accept Batman being 40, I'd put him at no more than 35 either.

I wouldn't put any superhero over 40 (except the Justice Society folks), but late 30s I have no problem with. You can still be in prime physical condition then.

I always thought Ms. Marvel looked early 30s, but I imagine the guys at Marvel insist she's only 24 or something ridiculous like that.

I really try not to think about the ages of the characters. The original avengers seem like they are mid 30s though

In Ms. Marvel's 2005-2008 solo run, her I.D. card listed her at 31. Moon Stone (Dark Ms. Marvel) was 34.

Jack Kirby, who is literally God within the Marvel Universe.

Was the Waid FF run the first time that's happened? Because that was a damn good story.

I don't remember Kirby God showing up any other time, though.

Even for the FF, how often do you meet God?

In a recent (this century) Eternal's mini-series, he showed up as a bar-tender named Jack, and he revealed himself to the Dreaming Celestial as one called "The Fulcrum".

Okay stupid question: Can/ has Galactus ever shrunk down to human size? I know he's shrunk to 10' when he was really hungry, but if he wanted to, could he manifest as a normal human? I just thought of that because the Dreaming Celestial shows up at the bar, human sized in that mini.

There was that time the FF and Quasar separated him from his powers and he lived in the NYC for awhile.

Yeah, he was Pudgy and bald.....still had an appetite.

I see that Sensational Spider-Man is back. Is the recent 33.1 the first issue? Where does that number come from bc I beleive the last number of the last series was #41. Why not just relaunch at #1? Also whats the difference between it and Amazing? Does it have a specific focus?

It's basically a 2 part mini. They also had a 33.2 and a Peter Parker: Spider-Man .1 issue and there's a Web of Spider-Man .1 issue coming up.

That sounds really confusing. I just asw that PP:SM is 156 and Web is 129. Why not just release these as #1s?. Im really not getting where they got these numbers from

I don't know anything about Cosmic Marvel. But are these things in the background related to Nova? It looks like his symbol.

Yeah, they screwed it all up. The last issue of Peter Parker:Spider-Man was vol 2 #57, the 155th issue over all combining the 2 volumes. That point 1 issue should technically be 155.1.

The Sensational Spider-Man point 1 and 2 issues pick up numerically at the end of the first volume. The Marvel Knights Spider-Man series was renamed to Sensational Spider-Man with issue 23 until it's cancellation at #41.

The Web of Spider-Man is kinda right but they don't take into consideration the 12 issues from volume 2.

At least the stories have been good.

Was a cure for the Thing and the Hulk found yet?

Thing got several cures but, as always, character development is temporary at best. The current cure was by the kids of the future foundation. He gets to randomly become his normal self, for like a week, once a year. That should stick....for a time. You get your whiny, whoa is me Benjy, and every once in a while, boom! Human Benjy.
