How much time has passed since Fantastic four 1?

What happened to Thor before (or during) Age of Ultron?

Sorry for all these AoU questions, I haven't read many Marvel comics lately

I don't think we know. Age of Ultron began exactly as you saw it in issue 1 and we know little of what led to it. I'm assuming we'll learn what's happened to various heroes as the story progresses, like how we learned what happened to the Fantastic Four in the tie-in that came out Wednesday.

 Thanks!

How close is the Pheonix Saga in X-Men TAS to the comics? (Because I haven't read it )

It was the first time the show worked to adapt a big huge storyline from the comics, rather than just cherry-picking various plot points.

Despite a very different team roster, TAS hits a lot of the same beats as the comic (Xavier's split personality freakout, Black Tom's 1st appearance, tangling with the Shi'ar Imperial Guard and the Starjammers), as does the Dark Phoenix saga. But in the comic those beats play out over a lot more issues, and the story doesn't go straight into the Dark Phoenix like the show did. Jean is the Phoenix for a lot longer, and the development from a major power upgrade into a full-blown corrupting presence is more gradual.

There are plenty of little changes from the comic too; Dr. Corbeau is an ally of Xavier so there's no need to hit him with mind-control; Magneto shows up after Cassidy Keep to start some s***, the Shi'ar appear at completely different points, and most of them near the end; and there's a bit where Phoenix tangles with Firelord, which is the first time we see how tough she's become. And remember the Spirit-Drinker alien that took up a whole two-parter? Yeah, that's like half a page in the comic.

I think the best change is that the toon builds up D'Ken and the M'Krann crystal a lot more; the conflict between him and Lilandra is simplified and brought more to the forefront, and the crystal is the MacGuffin that brings all the action together. Much more weight is given to the crystal's universe-ending power, while in the comic the crystal is explained and resolved all in one issue pretty much.

Anyone? It was an Ultimate story. Maybe an Ultimates Annual. Fury is talking to some young man, maybe a soldier or a SHIELD agent, about the new Super Soldier program and how everyone else experimented on died because their DNA didn't fit with the formula. I get the feeling they were talking in a SHIELD infirmary or something. I didn't read the whole thing because I was at a book store and didn't have the time. I didn't get it because it wasn't the regular Ultimates, and I don't think it was drawn by Hitch. It was also around the time that Ultiamte Spider-Man fought Ultimate Deathlock... maybe.
I am trying to find out more about it, because I was expecting it to lead to an Ultimate anti-Captain America, some guy with Cap's powers who was just a bad guy or went crazy... something. Maybe became a new Ultimate version of one of 616 Cap's enemies like Zemo or something. But nothing came of it I think.
I think the young soldier/test subject just died.
I want to find some images from that issue but I cannot find any.

It was definitely the first Ultimates Annual from 2005, written by Miller and illustrated by Steve Dillon. I quit the ultimate universe with the Death of Spider-man crossover but I'm fairly certain nothing ever followed up this story. As for images, Google is your friend. Just search "Ultimates Annual" and you'll get a bunch of images of the cover, interior, etc.

Let me know if you ever actually see what went down with Thor in AoU. I'd read that issue, even though I'm skipping the event as a whole.

Why does Black Bolt (all of the Inhumans, but especially BB) wear a mask? And have we ever seen him without it?

Why? Not sure, but I think the little thing on the forehead helps with his powers somehow. As for his face? Seen back in Secret Invasion:

Black Bolt's face has been shown occasionally since the '70's. The antennae on his mask helps him to control his electron power. AFAIK they have never gone into detail about the antennae or said anything at all about why he (or the other royals for that matter) wears a mask at all. Some crazy inhuman custom I assume.

I can just imagine Stan saying to Jack, "Why'd you give him a mas--y'know what, never mind." :word:

In FF the End they revealed that the more human looking Inhumans used masks, to hid their human faces. Its sort of a discrimination thing I think.

Havent been keeping up with it but is Age of Ultron an alternate universe? Is it any good?

I'd assume it's an alternate universe in the same sense that Age of Apookielypse was an alternate universe. It's the current reality until they change it back and act like it never happened.

What Marvel animated series follows it's respective comic source the closest/most lovingly?

Xmen TAS and Spider-man TAS from the 90s on Fox both were very faithful with lifting actual comic stories and issues. Of course alterations were made but they tried to stay close to the source whereas most other series tended to just do original stories

Earth's Mightiest Heroes was brilliant and quite respective to the comics.

Thanks! Here's another dumb question:

For someone who is really intrigued by the cosmic characters of the Marvel universe that they've never gotten into before, what is the A #1 best comic series to get into that has the most good stories/cool cosmic/fantasy elements. Doctor Strange? Guardians of the Galaxy? Silver Surfer? And if they're all great where should one start?

The whole Annihilation crossover is supposed to be outstanding, and Abnett and Lannings run on Guardians of the Galaxy I hear is great as well. I don't read the cosmic stuff though.

Yeah, Annihilation, DNA's Guardians and Nova runs.
