Does anyone like to put together read orders cuz I got a big one. Just picked up all of Dark Reign and would like to read in order, any help is appreciated

Literally all the titles from the Dark Reign run. I picked it up digitally but they aren't in chronological read order as far as the series goes. It's all listed in order for the title. So I need:

I know it's huge cuz it's the whole run but I really would like to read it in order they way it came out because I've heard good things about this run. Sorry it's huge but any help at all is very much appreciated. I"m just at a loss as to where the correct place to begin and the correct path to follow is

All the other events I picked up digitally are in order. I also would like to know which of these events came first. Like what is the correct order from oldest to newest:

Well, Dark Reign wasn't so much an event as it was a company-wide status quo thingy. It was just an era in Marvel Comics where the villains had more sway and authority than the heroes, and it lasted right up until the Siege event.

Honestly, with very few exceptions (such as the Utopia crossover between Uncanny X-Men, Dark Avengers, and X-Men Legacy), you could read all of those titles individually.

It's not everything and may not be exact, but this list is the more important aspects of Dark Reign in as close as chronological order as I can remember it. You can probably read everything else separate and just mentally place them where you want in this list. The titles in red are things you haven't listed but are a part of Dark Reign. Thunderbolts 126-127 is technically a bridge from Ellis' Thunderbolts and the Dark Reign era, but it's a great starting point for Dark Reign. You could skip it though. Captain America Reborn shows how Cap came back after dying in Civil War, but if you don't care about that you can skip it. Siege is the conclusion to Dark Reign, so you need that. The Siege tie-ins to Dark Avengers is a lead-in to Siege (with issue 16 an aftermath). New Avengers 61-62 takes place between scenes of Siege and deals with some New Avengers plot prior to Siege. I didn't include anything else that tie's in with Siege, but you can probably find some read orders for that stuff. I remember the Thunderbolts issues were really good (and since you're going to be reading the Dark Reign Thunderbolts issues, it's a great conclusion to that era of the title).

It was done by memory so it may not be fully accurate, but it'll at least get you in the right ballpark. I'm fairly certain it's mostly accurate though. There were a lot of little scenes shared between New Avengers and Dark Avengers, so expect that.

Are there any other good events or runs I should check out across the 616? I read Marvel for years growing up, was a big comic guy in the late 80's to 90's. Jumped back in with Schism then AvX and I've been all caught up throughout Marvel NOW

When did you stop reading? As far as the X-Men side of things go, I'd recommend Astonishing X-Men by Joss Whedon (that's Astonishing X-Men 1-24 and Giant Sized Astonishing X-Men 1 which concludes the whole run).

The best recent series for me though, which I HIGHLY recommend is Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force. The whole series is good but the first half was some of the best comics I've ever read. At least read issues 1-18

Outside of that, I recommend reading the Nova series that launched after Annihilation, tied in with Annihilation Conquest, loosely tied in with War of Kings, and whose ending lead into Thanos Imperative.

Also, one of my favorite series is the Immortal Iron Fist. The whole run is fantastic. Along with the main series (27 issues) you'll also need the Annual which is important to the second arc. There is other stuff, one-shots and such, but they aren't necessary. But if you get them, read them. They're all pretty good.

While many didn't like it, you might want to give Bendis' Avengers run a shot since it's pretty important toward a lot of the recent events (Disassembled, House of M, Civil War, Secret Invasion, Siege). I loved it, but I'm in the minority.

It's a longer run, but I also recommend Daredevil from Bendis through Diggle (so issue 26-119. It's then renumbered at 500 and goes until 512, concluding in the Shadowland mini event. You can skip a lot of the tie-ins to Shadowland, but I'd recommend getting the Ghost Rider one, as it's pretty important). Then Diggle's run wraps up with a mini called Daredevil Reborn 1-4. A lot of people like the relaunched title after that by Mark Waid (which is currently running but will be ending soon). I'm not a fan because of the happier feel, but I suppose I should at least mention it to you.

If X-Men is your thing, I can probably give you a list of what to read in what order to cover the major happenings from then to now. That way you don't have to read EVERYTHING, but still get the main plot. I started that list not too long ago. I can do it again.

Where do you guys rate Morrison's X-Men run? In a similar high level as Whedon's?

The general consensus among comic fans and journalists on Morrison's New X-Men is that it's amazing and it revolutionized the X-Men and brought them out of a many years-long rut. I don't totally agree. Except for a few ideas he introduced, I hated Morrison's run on X-Men. It's only until recently, after reading comics for a couple years, have I found that I just do not like Morrison as a writer. Many of the fellow X-Men posters here already know my feelings toward him.

Now as for Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men, it's also highly regarded as one of the best X-Men runs in recent years and I absolutely agree. I've rebought the series in different formats three times. Anytime a newcomer asks what's a good X-Men story/arc to get into the characters, that is my first suggestions every time. If you asked your average X-Men fan what are the best runs in X-Men's recent history you'll probably hear:

Grant Morrison's New X-Men
Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men
Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force
Peter David's X-Factor

But, again you'll find people who don't agree and that's totally fine (I have plenty of my own controversial favorites). To each his own.
