The Official Superman Casting & Discussion Thread

Jesus! It's not even guaranteed that it has anything to do with Superman! Pure speculation! Calm yourselves.

This has been a tiring process for fans. Only one Superman movie in the past couple decades and it was total garbage (let alone lack-luster & lazy attempts on Superman monthly comic books from writers for years) now with the battle rights over Superman, and no word of any casting, which started in 2006 and almost 3 beyond-successful Batman movies later.. we are about ready to jump at EVERYTHING that's ever going to be reported.

Patience is thin I tell you! haha

Oh, I know Maze. The sarcasm was laid on pretty thick. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at how quickly fanboys jump all over an srticle's blatant speculation and freak out over absolutely nothing.

In Park City with his new film, The Off Hours, Scoot McNairy, the breakout star of Monsters, sat down to chat to Total Film about the impact Gareth Edwards' film has had on his career.

"[Monsters has] opened up a lot of doors for me. I just got an offer yesterday that was probably the biggest offer of my life..." he told us.

Though he was grinning like a Cheshire cat about this mystery offer, McNairy refused to be drawn on details - even with TF making guesses about it involving superhero costumes.

"It's a good one!" his publicist added, "but if he tells you he'll have to kill you."

Could it be Superman? "You'll read it in the trades in a few weeks," he shrugged, "it'll be a big annoucement."

We are officially excited. What news could be bigger than Zack Snyder revealing his new Clark Kent?
Cast your mind back to Monsters and chuck a pair of black rimmed glasses on McNairy's photo-journalist... have Nolan and Snyder found the 'relative unknown' they have been looking for... watch this space.
Is Scoot the next Superman? Or have we missed the mark? Let us know...
Maybe he's playing Bruce Banner in the new Hulk show. Just a wild guess here.

Not seeing it:

we don't even know if this casting speculation has anything remotely to do with Superman.................

IF IF IF he got a part in superman, i'd wager it's someone like Jor-el or Braininac he'd play, Not Superman...
or maybe he got another superhero role in another film, if thats what he's even talking about.

Considering he was an unknown before Monsters, ANY role that is a known entity would be "the biggest offer of his life." I agree Bruce Banner in the new Hulk show seems a more likely prospect for him.

snyders not crazy, and WB knows that this film will need more than what McNairy could bring ( no offense to him, but acting or no, superman he is not)

the actor needs to LOOK strong in facial features, piercing eyes and buffed up muscle mass.

The page the link took you to has been taken down.

even though Joe's the front runner, i'm still rooting for the underdog (Spencer Conway)...

Yes, humor is a virtue. Humor is good for you. It really is... humor...

Again, why would people think it's Superman-related?

Hank Pym I can kinda see. I highly doubt WB/Snyder will get him to play Superman.

Those are the most Superman-like photos of Joe M. that I have seen yet. In the top and bottom photos he looks boyish and almost playful, yet he still looks like a real MAN in the middle photos. I still like Cavill, but these photos have me just as excited to see Joe cast in the role.

I can't really picture Joe as a Clark Kent at all. I keep trying but I don't see it. Even Superman is a stretch. Imo between Joe, Cavill and Hammer, I'd say Hammer looks closest to what Clark would look like though in his younger days. Cavill is more balanced and more of a modern Clark. Joe looks the least like Superman or Clark but has the best physique of the three.

These are what I consider the best manips for some of the more popular choices.

Henry Cavill

Armie Hammer

All I can say is casting Joe M will turn Superman into an episode of Jersey Shore, and no thanks
