not sure how I feel about all the changes. I guess I'll take a wait and see approach.

but I guess it does confirm the new suit as "armor."

also, I'm glad he's still "from" Kansas ( I guess that's confirmed right? ), even though it seems the Kents are dead?

More Morrison Superman news from DC Blog

In the pages of ACTION COMICS, writer Grant Morrison and artist Rags Morales will present humanity’s first encounters with Superman, before he became one of the World’s Greatest Super Heroes. Set a few years in the past, it’s a bold new take on a classic hero.

* This Superman is very much an alien, one struggling to adjust to his adopted home. In the series, he must come to terms with both the loss of his home world, as well as the loss of both of his adopted parents. He is more Kal-El from the planet Krypton than Clark Kent from Kansas. He’s a loner trying to find his place in the world.

* The series’ first storyline will explore the origins of Superman’s costume, as it evolves from a look that includes jeans and work boots to a new look: a suit of battle armor that pays tribute to his Kryptonian past.

* His great powers have limits. When the series begins, Superman can leap tall buildings, but his ability to fly is in its infancy.

Oh and Modern Superman did get a One More Day on him:
And in the SUPERMAN ongoing comic book series, by writer George Perez and artist Jesus Merino, will be set in present day continuity and will unleash a series of new challenges for Superman and his alter ego Clark Kent.

* Clark Kent is single and living on his own. He has never been married.

* Lois Lane is dating a colleague at the DAILY PLANET (and his name isn’t Clark Kent) and she has a new position with the paper.

Timeless and modern, classic and contemporary, but younger, brasher and more brooding, this is Superman. The New Man of Tomorrow.

I'm interested in what changes they will bring to Kara, too.

I'm not worried at all about the new direction for Superman. The thing about him being more alien and brooding doesn't bother me because it's at the beginning of his career. It's the same as his powers just beginning to manifest, he can't be the great person that we know Superman to be without some of the experiences he'll have to go through in the beginning.

As for Lois and Clark never being married, I can deal with that because they'll be back together within a year, two at the most. They won't be married but they'll be together again.

Shes going back to stage 1. Just arriving on earth, not sure if she wants to be a hero, she might be more powerful than Kal-El and mgiht have a few different powers.

That sounds really good, the trial-and-error phase of Superman until he evolves into the real Man of Tomorrow.

About time. The marriage was a little bit boring. Now they can bring back all the old love interests (although I would prefer they coming up with new stuff...)

A woman? :whatever: :cwink:

Sounds good, but I've been wrong before.

In his weakest moment, Superman is taken down – but by whom? And if the world wasn’t ready for a man with super powers, they’re utterly unprepared for the rage of a Superman cornered! The cornerstone character of the new DCU continues his debut adventure!
Well it didn't take long for Lex Luthor to appear lol.

ugh, i dont like how any of this looks or sounds!

i love grant morrison and im sure his story will be an interesting take on the character, but i dont like it as the status quo.

I normally wouldn't care that much for a costume like this, since it seems kind of bleh-ish to me to have costumes like this, but I like this one considering the context, and we finally get a costume that isn't drowning in a sea of its own seams.

Indeed the lack of seams on the costume make me :)

Overall I am really digging the sound of everything Morrison has planned for Superman and I am interested to see who Lois Lane's new love interest will be

I wonder if Clark's going to end up with Lana instead

Cannot wait to see Lex's first encounter with Superman written by Morrison

just read the October solicitations.....

I am totally confused about the new Superboy......is he a clone.....cyborg??

also, it says Kara has a few new tricks up her sleeve to take on Superman....hmmm....new powers maybe??

Exciting times! A return to a more golden age Superman sounds great to me.

Why are they even fighting though

Doesn't make much sense

Just the opposite for me. The idea of a whole series devoted to Superman "growing up" again and learning to fly again and all that other crap we've seen rehashed a hundred times is turning me off. If it weren't for Morrison and Rags, I'd just forget about reading Action Comics altogether after reading the information we've gotten so far. But I'll still try out a couple issues.

yeah.....we just got through Smallville...that was, what, 10 years of him "growing up."

Wait, isn't this Depression-era Superman in Action Comics? So how old is Lex if he's on that AC cover?

Has it officially been said that's how long ago the Action Comics stories are set

I don't think so, I do know that they said Justice League is 5 years in the past (still ridiculous if you ask me), not sure about Supes. 5 years in the past for his origin as the first superhero makes the history of the DCU, particularly Batman and his sidekicks, a bit hard to swallow.

I'll definitely read it cause I trust Morrison but I agree its about time to stop with the origin stories for Superman. I mean didn't Geoff Johns just do one like a year ago? It feels like they think they need to break out a new one anytime theres the slightest possible justification for a continuity change.

Agreed normally the idea of yet another origin story would bore me but in this case as its being written by such a fab writer I will be checking it out

I don't know......the more I hear about what they're doing with the Superman titles, especially the new details today, the less I'm interested in them.

conversely, the more I read about the Batman titles, the more I'm interested in them.......
