Even though Grounded as a whole was a waste at least Roberson had some fun with it.

Oh and D'idiot said this at Fan Expo in case it hasn't been posted yet

"So much of the DCU is built around Superman," explains DiDio. "If Justice League is Year One, Action Comics is almost Year Zero." Clark Kent starts of very much alone, after the death of his adopted parents and his move to a big new city. It will also cover how this incarnation of Clark gets his costume, and why it matters so much to him.

^Supergirl's outfit looks...incomplete. It looks like somebody was on their way to designing something cool, and then just quit halfway through. "Eh, whatever. Maybe they'll think it's 'edgy' that her hips are exposed."

I actually bought every issue of Supergirl in 2009. I'd never really had much interest in the character, before, but I found that the comics were really good, so I kept coming back. Then they ruined it with the New Krypton crossover garbage, and I dropped it. I wish they would just stick with a core creative team, and stick with what works as far as characters and story...for maybe a year. I'm getting slightly frustrated with the constant shifting and revamping of things every 4-6 months.

i loved that JMS' solution to fixing detroit's problems is to have extraterrestrial aliens sell their technologically advanced services.

He provided a solution to revive manufacturing in Detroit (people with manufacturing experience could have jobs building the machinery to sell their medical devices) and provided a place in society and contribution for the extraterrestrials. It was two birds one stone.

"So much of the DCU is built around Superman"

if this is referring to the new relaunch DCU, then it is an interesting statement.........

could we have a DCU where Superman is more important than, say, Batman?? lol

Well it sounds like its Superman who inspires a lot of the new superheroes and makes superheroes public instead of just vigilantes like Batman

So that's pretty cool

Superman is always supposed to be more important than Batman. Then us readers come along and show DC that we Luke Batman a hundred times better than Supes and that rule starts to bend.

:csad:

At least Morrison is writing Superman again

You know that's going to be fab

Just got 714. Too bad that it's the last issue. Can anyone tell me what are the issues that cover "Grounded"?

It was!

They need to give it a mini at very least.

I think I heard some where on IGN and it was getting it's own solo book after the relaunch was more established. I like that they will have another Beyond timeline book because honestly it has SOOOO much potential.

Eh, I don't always trust IGN. They can be iffy on their facts.

Hoping they got their facts right this time

I'd really like an ongoing Superman Beyond series I think there's probably lots of neat stories to be told with that character in the Beyond universe

Do we know if the Superman we'll see in the movie will be the Superman of the new DC Universe? I think they should adapt him, the way Green Lantern stuck to the comics. It would certainly help their comics sales.

- Hey i want more Superman stuff.
- Just pick up Superman #1 and Action #1!
- Thanks.

Its easy really. They really dont need the movie going its own way the way the Batman movies have.

Incidentally, the art for Action Comics is amazing! I cant wait for it!

What in crikey **** is Zod wearing ?
Christian Bale's batsuit. :cwink:

But seriously, those suits look horrible, Superman's included.

I really love the colors!! and Kara too!! :awesome:
Fabulous!
actually, I'd prefer if Kara had pants.......lol

someone did a manip where the lower half was all blue, and that looked MUCH better than the official one.......
I think that's the point of the suit, to look alien and kryptonian like, reflecting her status as an outcast on earth.
And apparently he's been brainwashed into being a villain and the Teen Titans are goung to have to rescue him from N.O.W.H.E.R.E.
And replace his Tron suit with a biker suit?

I love it when comic adaptations are faithful to the comics, but Green Lantern was a little toooooo faithful. Comics and movies are two different mediums and they need to make some liberties with the source material in order to make it work.

Throwing in a bunch of **** works in comics because you can make a story go on for as long as you want (I love it when creators decide to go on with epic stories that go on for years).

But with a movie, you need to make it work for two hours. They should have ditched the Parallax and Amanda Waller stuff, make the movie two and half hours long and focus more on Hal's training with Kilowog, Tomar-Re, and especially Sinestro, his relationships with Hector Hammond and Carol Ferris, and focus more on Hal's daddy issues.

Green Lantern had all the stuff to make a great movie, but it felt like some kid on ADD because it wanted to shove everything from the comics into it as opposed to focusing more on Hal's character.

^^ was GL really that bad??

I didn't see it in the theaters, but I'll probably check it out on DVD.

mind you.....I know next to NOTHING about GL.........

I agree 100% but what you re suggesting is still faithful to the comics, the movie would just have less stuff in it.
It really did have too many things in it and it seemed like they didnt have the money or the time to develop them properly. For god's sakes the training took what was supposed to be a day and then they sent Hal on his way. In the end Kilowog was even proud of his teaching skills.

In other words they got the tone, the look and the main story right, but they messed it up in the execution. Obviously the story wasnt a 100% adaptation the way the Snyder movies are, but it was very very close. The differences were minor and a filmgoer could easily jump into the comics. I mean, so it wasnt Atrocitus that killed Abin Sur, and this and that, but the main story was the same.

The Superman movie doesnt have to follow the comics to the letter but it could be based on the same continuity with a few minor differences here and there. For example it would be silly if they based him on his pre relaunch self when they re trying to push their "new cool characters". They even said so themselves, that they now see the characters as multi-media characters, in other words, not comic book characters that need to be reworked for other media.

It wasnt as horrible as people make it out to be, it was just average. The basic flaw is that they went through everything really fast as if they didnt have time, so no character was developped. Hal was a lucky *****e that became a better person after a pep talk from Carol. That meant he could defeat the villain that decimated a whole squadron of GL veterans after only a day's training from Kilowog.

It's not bad at all (asides from Blake Lively's horrid acting). The problem is that it had everything to make a great movie, but it didn't develop those things enough.

I haven't been following the news very closely, but was "Superman can be hurt and needs armor" ever elaborated on?
