The Official Superman Thread - Part 3

finally got around to reading perez's superman issue. ugh. that sucked. there was nothing inspiring or hopeful about the character, not a single moment of it, which is what he's supposed to be all about. a horrible introduction.

morrison is killing it though , that goes without saying.

Story-wise, issue #2 rocked hard! I loved it! Art-wise, I enjoyed Rag's artwork. I did, however, hated the pencil filler; Lois looked horrible. I always hate it when a comic book has two artwork combined.

Also, I absolutely feel that this book at $3.99 is a rip-off. I expected more story with that price. Throwing in behind the scene extras does not justify $3.99. At $2.99, I would understand a 20-page story comic book. Don't get me wrong, I will gladly pay extra for more of Grant's story, but a 20-page book at $3.99 is a rip-off!!

DC, rip-off!! Drawing the line at $2.99? pffft!!
Go cry to someone who cares. :o

Wow, pretty mature of you. :whatever:

Apparently you care since you took time to respond to it.

A dollar extra might not mean much for you, but it does to some people like myself who can barely keep up. And I don't appreciate it when a big company, like DC, sucker punch people to pay extra for behind the scene extras that people may not necessary care for; worse is that the story is only 20-pages that is normally $2.99.

I buy comics for the STORY content.

Considering it gives you a look at whats to come, isn't that story content?

I think Action Comics #3 is going to have a backup story about Krypton and Action Comics #4 definitely has a backup story by Joshua Hale Fialkov about Steel.

It's better than what Marvel does, reduce their $3.99 books to 20 pages without telling anyone and don't give a single bit of extra content. Even though this month's extra content in Action Comics sucked, it was still at least something. And better extra content is on the way.

I'll be interested to check out that Steel story

Is Fiallkov a good writer

Oh this is embarrassing. I don't care about anything you've said. I just care about my incredibly logical replies. :o

In any case, notice how every single person who's replied to you has disagreed with you? I wonder why...

I wonder if John Henry still waits until Superman "dies" before he becomes Steel...

Action #2 was awesome. I really enjoyed the scene where he laughs at luthor.

Heh, the idea that Kryptonians are shapeshifting dogs was hilarious. :D

I only paid 2.99:awesome:

I got my Action Comic #2 in the mail today. I do enjoy reading an actual physical copy more than one online. Story wise, I like where it's going but do agree about 20 pages of story isn't enough to justify $4. There are way too many extras to fluff up the book. Oh well...I guess that's the comic industry these days.

hey, i got an idea, boycott DC, go to Marvel where their books suck AND charge you $3.99

Honestly I'm willing to pay 3.99 if the quality is gonna be at this level every issue. Plus it's not like your getting all splash pages or anything. Your getting ok art with a good bit of dialogue and excellent pacing so it doesn't feel like 20 pages too me.

My question is...did they find the dog in the space suit...or did they put him in it after the fact?

Paul Dini shares his thoughts on superhero video games

"Batman is pretty much real world-centric," Dini said. "If I was going to do another comic book based game… I would probably want to amp it up a bit as far as the power level goes and do more of a superhero with more superpowers. Batman is pretty much a self-trained guy, I think it would be fun to do a character like Superman or Captain Marvel or maybe Green Lantern, somebody who's got a completely different resource for fighting crime and fighting villains."

"[Superman] is pretty much the number one in the DC pantheon, and I think not enough has been done with him to make him a character," he said. "He's got amazing powers, he can fly super fast and everything, but also there's a level to his character that I don't think has been explored yet in video games to kind of get underneath who he is and into his heart a little bit."

"I think there's a lot of reinvention being done on Superman at the moment, both in the comics and in the movies," he said. "I think it would be fun to revisit that character and kind of see what makes him tick."
Personally i wouldn't mind to see an origin story modeled after Grant Morrison's Action Comics where Superman literally is powered down, but the thing is it's not impossible to make a Zen Superman game, you just set him againts Aliens, Kryptonians, Alien-Robots (Luthor bots, suck! Just filler :P) and so on, people love badasses like Dante or Kratos, and Kratos is quite literally a god, but it's just the whole blue boyscot image and the fact too many writers just write him badly and just use Kryptonite over and over again like Superman is some dumb kid that has kinda given him bad public recognizition.

Still like i said an early years Bruce Springsteen Superman would kick-ass:

Why wouldn't you want Krypto to live Corp :csad:

He's a heroic doggy in a cape! He's lovely :)
