The Official Superman Thread - Part 3

Never been a real follower of Wildstorm, so I can't honestly say that I feel too affected by said butchering.

Still, I like the sense of energy and fun, for lack of a better term, that was in the latest issue of Superman. A pleasant change from the moodiness that the first arc had. Not to say that Supes can't have moody moments and stories, but as far as introducing the present day version of him to readers in the new 52 compared to his 5-years-ago self in Action, the first storyarc should have been more like this, IMO, showing Clark just being himself without the weight of the Daily Planet shenanigans weighing down his attitude. Reassure readers from the start that he's not going to be brooding all the time in the present day.

Also, while I still think the costume needs tweaking, I've been loving the coloring of it. The red, blue, and yellow they're using are pretty much perfect, IMO.

I tried Superman #7. It was a fun issue, and Superman was characterized really well. He actually seemed a lot more likable and fun than anything I've read in a few years.

But the issue seemed to lack a sense of epicness that I'd really like from a Superman comic. It still seems like a supplemental, and overall unimportant companion to Action.

It's less epic in scale to Action Comics but I'm kind of digging it all the same

I thought Hellspont could make a pretty neat addition to Superman's rovues gallery

Though I'm getting really tired of veryone in the dcu being a dbag who hates superman for being an alien even though he saves the entire planet all the time

Its like the morons in the marvel universe with all their anti mutant prejudice despite the fact that the X men have saved the lives of billions

Basically. :(

I miss Rainmaker :csad:

The fact that Grunge has appeared in the DCU but she still hasn't makes my soul cry ;_;

I'm waiting for Ladytron to show up, myself. And Spartan. And Majestic. And... goddamnit, they're never coming back. :csad:

They probably will. They'll just suck when they do.

Planetary will probably be just another evil or grey area organization that gets busted up by Batman or some other mook.

Majestic will be just another superman wannabe getting owned by Superman.

Spartan will be an emotionless automoton.

.......I don't even wanna contemplate how they'll f**k Ladytron up. :(

It really sucks that they didn't reintroduce Hadrian as one of the Forbes 500 of DC, right alongside Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor. The Wildcats as a corporate-sponsored covert ops team fighting the secret Daemonite threat works just as well in the DC universe as it did in the Wildstorm universe. Hell, it's basically what Andrew Bennett's doing with his secret war against the other vampires in I, Vampire.

Completely wasted opportunity.....sounds awfully familiar. :o

Oh, I also wanted to mention...

Isn't the team of Jurgens and Merino pretty awesome? I mean, Jurgens was always good, but Merino's inks seem to give it some added pop.

They're going to be :atp:

Milligan has said that they'll be hooking up as a proper couple when he starts writing the book which makes me very happy. They're one of my favourite couples

I really hope they get married in this continuity like they were in the Wildstorm universe :hrt:

I don't like how Lex is being written in Action he comes of more as a coward then a leader.

Remember guys, Grant said the reason Lex ends up the way he is in All-Star is because of his experiences with Superman during the early days, we're seeing the foundations here folks.

I think he's still a little overwhelmed by everything. Remember, in this continuity, the entire concept of superhumans starts with Superman, so nobody has any frame of reference yet for things like Brainiac and Metallo and all the other craziness that's suddenly cropping up. Even Lex is gonna take a while to adjust.

When he stops being scared, and starts being angry.

Yeah; that all sounds like an accurate assessment.......but I still hate the look of that new costume though.:csad:

wow, so even action comics is starting to bore me. never thought i'd be saying that about a grant morrison comic....
