The Official Superman Thread - Part 4

I'm pretty sure that it is. Especially considering that it was the creators who did that story.

It just shows how open to interpretation the character is and that things such as Clark not dressing so neat and conservative or having Superman talk in a way that's more akin to how a 20-something would are not bastardizations. Seriously, people never seem to pay much attention to how much Superman changed between his inception and the silver age, but they act as if anything that deviates from the silver age incarnation is wrong.

Continuing my quest to read every issue of action comics, Siegel and Shuster seem to have hit their stride with issues 26 and 27. A fantastic pair of stories with the characters really taking shape. I dunno if he employed a ghost artist, but Shuster's art really took off here.

Superman 14 preview out

Issues looks good.Lois is better characterised here than before so thats a plus. However her character needs some further work

I do not buy this lois being the most amazing woman Clark has met without showing what makes her amazing-see the smallville comic for example.Heck I dont buy Clark liking this lois-see smallville comic for how its done right.

Rocaforts art is gorgeous!Really rocafort is humiliating other artists.

Lobdells dialogue still grates me but is tolerable.

I have to say though I hate the fact that Clark has no close human relationship. This is so unsupermanlike-he isnt Batman!Unlike in Action comic Jim olsen is his best friend, bro whilst in this comic Jimmy is just an annoying mooch that Clark barely tolerates.Lois and clark may say that he they are best friends but from waht i can see they are friends grown apart. This Loner Clark just pisses me off

Anyways we got cat grant as a prospective friend. So ill comfort myself with that.

I am not gonna comment on the love triangle. The constant bickering on this is starting to piss me off

What gets me is how this guy:

Looks so much like this guy:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.

the art in Superboy is AWFUL!!!

they make Kara look so ugly..........:waa::waa::barf:

Everything in Superboy is awful.

Lobdell has been killing it on Superman. This H'El on Earth crossover has been great. Better than the Court of Owls and the new Joker crossover. I just wish this once again crossed over with JL the book not just them guest appearing here.

NO...everything.:woot::BA

By the way, will there be a comic book for the man of steel movie?

I don't understand how someone can absolutely despise the current comics and yet praise a movie they have yet to see to the high heavens. I really get sick of this pro-MoS anti-New 52 bs on here.

Same here! The New52 has been the first time I've ever been into so many separate DC titles. It may just be because I am more into comics now than I ever have been but still, the hate on here is just absurd sometimes and sometimes just plain counterconducive to discussion for those of us who do enjoy them. Don't get why people buy comics (or watch movies) that they so openly detest.

Sometimes, a need for vindication outweighs a need for satisfaction, as odd as that sounds/reads. They still like these characters and want to know what's going on with them, but they hate what they see, so they find their own pleasure in deriding it. That said, why do you feel that comes in the way of your fun? Vocal dissent is a freedom of the readership. Comics would suck if we had to like each one we bought. You don't have to bristle at someone else's opinion because something you enjoyed was beneath their nebulous standards of quality. You're not obligated to defend your purchase, either. That just makes you mad and sad over time.

It's an odd condundrum, but I think it comes down to a combination of the love for a character vs the take on that character at the time. Comic fans really develop a huge attachment to these characters and, for some, it's rather hard to simply cut that away when a new take you either dislike or hate comes around.

So Superman classic costume and all seems to be owned by DC now.

Or awful, depends how you see it.

I know I'll get no flack for this but...Ron Perazza is a dumb person.

Is Ron Perazza a person I should know? or just a random guy on twitter?

I've said it before and I'll say it again, people that don't like Superman on some level, are usually A-holes.
