Unchained? I'm a wrinkle-free freak when it comes to stuff like that. I totally crumpled my first copy then had to get another immediately after. My second attempt left a small finger bend on the poster. But I figured what the hey.

I really enjoyed the issue. It sucks it's only gonna be released every now and then.

I loved the first issue of Unchained. But I read the digital versions so no poster woes for me, lol.

Anyone reading the New 5 Superman comics? After Man of Steel I want to get back to reading some comics.

Grant Morrison's Action is very good, not All-Star greatness though and some of the backup's are great. But the best issue doesn't even feature the real Superman.

Lobdell's also doing pretty well, but it will always be a crime Diggle only did one issue.

I haven't read it, but if Snyder's Superman is as bad as his Batman, probably just save your money.

Except Unchained is fun because not everyone thinks Snyders batman is bad.

Morrison's Action Comics (and Diggle's brief follow-up when Morrison left) and probably Unchained are your best bets, imo. I haven't really cared for the main Superman title at all, tbh.

I loved Morrison's run on Action Comics. I ended up dropping Superman after #7.

Damn that's a shame. Like others, I was looking forward to picking up just the Superman title.

Well Unchained has "Superman" in the title. :woot:

Seriously though, just pretend that's the main Superman title. It's an established Superman (not Superman: The Early Years ala Action), just like in the main title, and it's, ya know, better. Just might have to wait a little longer for each installment. I cannot echo Llama's sentiments on Lobdell, unfortunately, so Snyder/Lee and Unchained will be my primary Superman title for the time being.

Yeah, I dropped it at the end of Perez's run, missed the Jurgens period completely, then tried to pick it up again after Lobdell took over, and it still just wasn't working for me. I think Lobdell has become one of my absolute least-favorite writers DC has. I've actively disliked every single thing I've read from him.

Haha yeah that's what I plan on doing. Unchained will be my main Supes title. Almost. I really liked #1. I mean I have Action Vol.1 in tpb form but don't wanna get Vol.2 'til that's on tpb form because I think it's only hardcover right now. Haha yeah I'm a bit of a "perfectionist" so I can't have one book in the same series as paperback, then hard the next. *shrugs* Sue me.
I've totally thought of getting everything after Vol.1 in issue form but that would cost like 50-something dollars haha.....maybe

Lastly, yeah waiting for Unchained is gonna suck, but it feels like the longer the wait, each issue is gonna be epic.

I read mostly just digital comics, but I get you. I've always been the same way with books, blu-rays, etc - I like my collections to have a certain consistency in packaging.

That's certainly the hope!

:woot: I LOVE Unchained. It was the single best Superman issue I've read in I don't even know how long. I really wish it was a weekly series, I've very impatient right now.

Do I need to read Superboy? I want to get back to my no. 1 hero (with new 52) I read the first trade of Superboy it was NOT my idea of a good time (putting it gently).

I had a hard time with some of the Superman issues (but overall a really good book). The first supergirl Trade was love at first read. Action was amazing.

Is Superman unchained a stand alone book? Or a new monthly?

Did you guys like the action of the new movie? It's the first time I've seen Real comic page action on screen. Raised the bar! (James Cameron! Song yay).

After Reading his Hulk Pak is a good choice for Supes.

Lobdell seems like a nice guy but anything Superboy from his hand is not for me.

Unchained is a new monthly series. Personally, I loved the action of MOS for exactly the reason you stated. Some didn't, because of how many people surely died in those epic fights, but I tend to shut my mind off when it comes to those kinds of fights in the comics, so I did so for the film, too.

To understand what's going on with Superman? No.

The schedule is TBD; the only (truly) standalone Superman book right now is Adventures of Superman.

'Twas a mixed bag for me. Parts of it felt like a live action DBZ. Those shockwaves from punches and flight were awesome. The camera doesn't shake during the action beats, either, so I could get into them unlike other parts. Did it raise the bar? Nah, just the scope. The action starts to drag around the time he fights those CG tentacles, and the choice of settings for the fights opens up Supes' character to ridicule.

It lacked...intensity, I guess, is the best word. You can make a fight span the whole Earth, but if there's not enough consequence to violence on the characters (physical or otherwise), there comes point where they're just CG people with obscured faces and no visible trauma doing the locomotion in mid-air.

Spoilered, 'cause some people still haven't seen it.

It is? I thought it was announced and has been scheduled as a monthly series?

A Google search indicates that most articles about it have described Unchained as a monthly series. I see on my Comixology subscription that the next issue is scheduled for July 10th, so that does appear to be the case so far.

Loved it. My favorite superhero action scenes to date. Like you say, it was like comic panels come to life. I felt that way about Avengers too, but even more so with MoS. As a huge fan of Superman comics who never liked any of the previous Superman movies, MoS was like a breath of fresh air to me.

Me too! Based on the first issue, it's definitely my most anticipated DC title at the moment. But with the news that Pak is taking over Action Comics, along with the so-far-so-good Batman/Superman, I'm happy to say there are now several Supes books I have to look forward to now. Which is a welcome change from my feelings a month or so ago, when I thought Unchained was gonna be my only ongoing Supes title for quite some time.

The first issue was good, so I'll finish the first arc at least.
