The cover for the regular edition of #38 is hideous. I had to opt for the flash variant edition.

I'll eventually have to get into Action Comics as well.

Superman #39 will be Geoff Johns's last issue and will start a new series with Gary Frank:

Superman #38 came out yesterday and JR and I wanted to say thank you, because the issue sold out!

I have to admit, it's a little bittersweet, because not only is it our final chapter of the Ulysses storyline, it's also the penultimate issue to my short run on the title with the great and amazing John Romita Jr., as issue #39 will be my last.

I’m incredibly honored to have been the lucky writer working alongside JR on his first-ever monthly book for DC Comics and I'm extremely proud of the work we've done, especially the final issue of the run which dives deeper into the fallout from Superman’s new power.

You'll find out the next team on Superman very soon. As for what’s next for me in the comic world besides JUSTICE LEAGUE with the amazing and talented Jason Fabok, you'll have to ask my longtime friend and collaborator, the great Gary Frank...

Until then, I also wanted to say thank you to everyone for watching #DCTV every week!

So Gary frank and Romita Jr? Could be interesting.

Oops, I screwed up my wording. It's actually Johns and Frank on a new book. JRJR will be the writer on #40.

The new Superman team will probably be revealed later this month with the May solicits (post-Convergence, yay!)

I just finished Superman Earth One Vol 3 and I thought it was incredible. I really enjoyed it. Already looking forward to a Volume 4.

I can't believe Geoff Johns only wrote Superman for 1 story arc. Seems like a waste of all that hype. I feel like he just wanted to come in and change some stuff and leave...

-He gave Superman a new power
-He gave Superman a new suit (which in my opinion is no improvement)
-He revealed his secret to Jimmy Olsen
-He brought Clark back to the Daily Planet. (This I had the biggest problem with)

I always figured Clark would eventually go back the Daily Planet, but literally right before Geoff Johns took over (2-3 Issues), Morgan Edge offered to buy Clark and Cat's Blog for 13 MILLION dollars. Cat went to Clark with the offer and Clark was all like, "absolutely not" and went on a shpeal about why they left the Daily Planet. And now he just goes back for no reason at all? Why the h*** not. totally makes sense. I am hoping that the end of 38 was misleading and Clark isn't officially back. I know he promised that 1 story to the Planet but he will not actually return quite yet.

OMG does this mean Johns and Frank are finally gonna get to do their long overdue Shazam ongoing?!?!?

Man I really really really hope so. Hands down the best thing they've done together since their Action Comics run was The Curse of Shazam back up from early Justice League issues.

Oh I see, Frank and Johns working on a new book? I sincerely hope its Shazam (oops I see Cain is one step ahead of me!!!).

The new Superman writer said the first arc is basically going to be Journey to the West.

this actually bugs me. so, they decide to parody an iconic image of blaxploitation culture (that's fine), but not only decide to replace the black hero with a white superman. but they ALSO just kinda cram John Henry Irons, the black hero who should be featured, down in the corner with a little "oh hey guys, i'm here too!" hell, even with all the writers in their employ they couldn't even come up with a rhyming tag-line, which was a synonymous trait with Super Fly and his promotion (i.e. "He's got a plan to stick it to the man!").

Superman isn't a normal white guy, he's an alien.

I am totally changing the subject here to Superman Artists. I am thinking of tattoo ideas and I can't decide which artist I should go with for reference material. Who is your favorite Superman Artist?

I really like artists like Kenneth Rocafort, but I feel like I should go with someone more iconic like Jim Lee.

However I think i am going more for grace and compassion, over strength so Gary Frank is pretty good with that

You can't go wrong with Jim Lee.

Tony S. Daniel's design is also very good.

Ivan Reis

Jason Babok. He's new but I've been digging his work.

Rags Morales, mainly his Action Comics run.

Could it be an amalgamation, like Jim Lee with a better looking logo? Always hated the way he draws the S.

Its funny, you should say that. because my plan was, no matter what artist i go with, ill probably have the tattoo artist draw Superman in the Fleischer suit because that is the show that got me into superman as a child.

Curt Swan is before my time, but still would have been a good choice.

There are a lot of good choices up there. Rags Morales is that only one that is always hit or miss for me. I don't know why, but i don't feel like it is consistent. Sometimes its alright but other times i don't like it. I might even prefer JRJR.

So I think my final decision might be to get one on each forearm showing different sides of the character. 1 by Jim Lee doing something to display his strength and determination (something heroic). Jim Lee is good at that. He always has a much more intense expression in Jim Lee's art. The 2nd one by whomever that will show him in flight with a happier expression to show a gentler, more warm natured, compassion side...
