Just wonding do you guys think Kal-El Will/should be the sole survivor of Krypton again?

I don't mind Supergirl being around....but we don't need a thousand others.

I know it sound odd but IMHO even one other survivor of Krypton sorta ruin the whole tragedy of Krypton for me. There is just something so poetic about this lone baby, this last surviving member of this great race is raised on Earth as human by this childless couple on their farm and grows up to become the greatest hero of them all.

Yeah, I was curious if there was a time you were ever consciously not reading Wonder Woman on the basis of s***tiness.
Well. Yeah. 'Course. I skipped all of Picoult and Pfeifer and only have about half of Simone. I guess people take it as a badge of honor to have all those issues, even ****** ones, but I take it as a badge of honor to not own ****** ones.

:dkm:

I am not interested in Supergirl in any way, nor do i want Superman to get a sidekick, but i want her around simply because of what she means to him. If you read the Superman/Batman story where Supergirl arrives on earth, you'll see what i'm talking about.

Superman's tragedy of being the sole survivor of Krypton can be (and has been) explored during his first years. Later on Supergirl can arrive, and without her bogging down his story, we can explore what she means to him, what info she brings about Krypton and his family, and how it would have been for Clark if he had come to Earth as a teen rather than an infant. It doesnt diminish his tragedy, in fact it underlines it, since Kara is the only person linking him to his lost home and he cant afford to lose her.

Aside from Supergirl, i dont really want any other Kryptonians around (i hate Zod, so no biggy) even though Lor Zod is a cool kid.

EDIT: I forgot about Krypto. Krypto is awesome and he should always be canon no matter what. Cant wait for John's upcoming Krypto vs Dex-Star story.

Supergirl was best as a bio-matrix. Others from Krypton belong in the Phantom Zone.

Superman is the last survivor from the doomed green star in the distant heavens.

The End!

Superman and Zod are the only Kryptonians who really need to be around. Superman because duh, and Zod because every hero needs their dark opposite. I don't really mind Supergirl but I preferred her when she was Matrix, who was also an orphan but in a different way. Krypto's grown on me over the years, but he still seems like a dumb concept to me. I could take or leave him.

Krypto is amazing:hrt:

I do not like the current version of Zod but the General Zod in the red powered armour was very cool

What's this Supergirl being a Matrix thing?

Krypto is a dumb concept for sure, but he is all kinds of awesome, the way Bzzd, Dex-Star and other animals are. I just adore seeing Clark play with his superdog in space (see All-Star SM for example).

Comics dont need to be super serious all the time. There can be cute, silly, funny, etc stories at the sidelines too.

Superman not being the sole survivor of Krypton has never hurt the character one bit. Superman being a country bumpkin boy naive boy scout who is near-******ed, on the other hand, has made the character a total joke. Plus when Byrne had him as the sole survivor of Krypton he also didn't give a damn about his Kryptonian heritage, just regarding it as something interesting to know about, but nothing he had feelings towards...which defeats the purpose really. Not to mention Byrne's Krypton was an aberration that in the words of Wendy Pini, "deserved to be destroyed." He's the last survivor of a race that he cares nothing about and doesn't consider himself a member of..wow, that's great. Now if he was the last one and he actually gave a damn about it-that could be a decent take with some real pathos and soul.

That said, I wouldn't care one way or another if Supes himself started acting like himself again. But I think the current Supergirl is doing pretty well and I don't expect her or some of the other Kryptonians to go away. No matter how overused and corny he is, Zod will always be around for example.

When they had a ban on there being other Kryptonians they created a new Supergirl that was basically an artificial life form. It was just another keeping the copyright active thing, but the character was pretty well liked by Post-Crisis fans. I could never decide if she was a callus business decision, an attempt to throw fans like me a bone or another slap in the face to fans like me...it was probably a little of all of those, though. I'm glad they brought back a version of Kara Zor-El but the current version is not as appealing to the more naive, sweet and innocent original. Ironically Superman himself has a lot in common with the original Supergirl nowadays personality wise. But being decent and sweet and naive and fumbling is fine for a supporting character, but not for Superman.

I've always felt Krypto was good fun and I like him with Kon-El too. And I love Ace...it makes sense Batman would have a dog, police use dogs and so does the military.

The post crisis Supergirl was a very good characterI think even if he was not Kryptonian

Lex Luthor will meet the Secret Six after Vandal Savage.

Meh, I'd rather have a couple of Kryptonians around considering how advanced they were. Now that New Krypton is destroyed, there shouldn't be a lot, but a few like Supergirl, General Zod, Ursa, Non, Chris Kent, Karasta, etc.

Green Martians on the other hand, there should be only one.

I'd be fine with other green Martians. There's an endless f***ing supply of white Martians, yet not a single green one survived besides J'onn? That's kind of silly.

Agreed, but IMHO it just makes him a bit more unique to not only be something of a alien that introduces himself to the human race by doing good (fighting for Truth, Justice, and the American way), but also the very last of his kind. To have other survivor's such as Zod, and Kara works. But it's certainly a concept that I could live without.

It only works when it is explained that they are in a timeless, limitless void. They were sent there for breaking Kryptonian law and as a result never aged or died. When the Phantom Zone is opened, they can potentially be released to Earth. They are Kryptonian but they didn't survive the destruction of the planet because they weren't on the planet when it was destroyed. Again, Supergirl was best as a matrix. Whoever brought this Kryptonian Supergirl back into continuity doesn't know the essence of Superman! The silver age rehash is garbage. New ideas please!

Alas, too true.

Anyone else find the cover of Action Comics in that preview extremely confusing?
