I, Zombie is a really neat book

I will give Robersons first issue a try

was Earth-One even that well received? I thought it was a giant waste of time.

Generally liked and extremely well sold. It does have it's flaws, but its mostly liked than hated.

Yeah, I'm not particularly disappointed that JMS is leaving Superman and Wonder Woman. I haven't read the latter but his Supes run has left me underwhelmed. Hopefully Roberson does a better job.

Also, with JMS gone, I personally think it would be better to promote Paul Cornell to the flagship Superman series. And entice Greg Rucka to coming back to DC with Wonder Woman :argh:

DC should dump a **** load of money on Rucka's lawn and beg him to write Wonder Woman

Cornell writing Superman would be :awesome:

It would be the perfect opportunity too. I've really been loving Lex Luthor being the star of Action Comics and I really don't want to see Superman take over that book from Lex. However, I also really want to see how Cornell will handle Superman.

The solution. Put Paul Cornell on Superman and Action Comics and keep Lex on Action Comics :awesome:

Haha that would be fab  :atp:

I don't like the idea of an irredeemable mass murderer taking Superman's original title from him, no matter how much fun it has been.

Superman has one ongoing series and his arch-enemy has his original book, while there is a whole huge line of Bat-titles. Of course it doesn't matter since they write Supes so horribly incompetent anyway. DC truly is completely and totally lost with Superman. I don't think they'll ever fix him. He exists on name recognition and rep alone nowadays. Next stop is Captain Marvel territory if they don't find someone with a clue ASAP.

I would poop bricks.

Cornell might write a really neat Superman Kurosawa

He can't do any worse than JMS, that's for certain. It seems like UK guys are the only ones who even get close, though no one ever gets Supes completely right, not even Morrison.

Even though Superman appeared in Action Comics #1, but overall, I consider Action Comics to be more of a Superman-centric anthology title. Superman was just a story in Action Comics #1, which also featured Zatara, various Western stories, a comedy, etc. When it became Action Comics Weekly, Superman barely appeared in the book except for 2 pages each issue. Characters such as Vigilante, Nightwing & Flamebird, Congo Bill, and others have had lenghty runs on the title as well. For me, the major requirement for Action Comics is that it should be set in Superman's world.

As for writing Superman, I think he can be salvaged.....through Paul Cornell.

And I do agree with you on the excessive amount of Bat-titles. I think that DC should have just limited it to Peter Tomasi on Batman, Scott Snyder on Detective Comics, and Grant Morrison on Batman, Inc.

I would like to see Cornell write Supes too, but I'm willing to give Roberson a chance, so I'm not going to write him off just yet.

iZombie's a pretty good book, so I don't see why Roberson can't be the next Jeff Lemire or Scott Synder.

I think the fact that Superman only has one book reflects how diminished the character has become. Cornell will probably do a nice job, but they've been burying Superman for years...it will take a lot to get him back to where he should be, starting with the will and interest to even get him there.

I pretty much feel DC has decided they don't need Superman to succeed. Batman is their main character now, and he is rights and cost-controlled while Superman's rights are uncertain. DC themselves push the idea that Superman is passe and they argued in court that he is a diminished property.

Well, let's not forget that Superman just wrapped up a huge multi-book crossover that spanned a good two years.

Not saying that that eclipses what Batman's been doing, but it is a pretty admirable event.

Personally, I think what happened with Superman is simple; JMS had this weird GA/GL-esque story he wanted to tell, DC gave him the keys, had to limit Supes to one book to do it. And now it's all pretty much blown up in their faces.

And yes, I know, Superman being in 2-3 books isn't nearly as epic as Batman 42...but I think there are ways (such as the whole New Krypton storyline) where you could utilize all of the various Superman titles to give Superman more exposure.
