'Office' actors star in the movies after hours

The actors from The Office have all been getting promotions.

It's rare that a TV show launches so many film careers, especially since the Thursday NBC series is only at the end of its third season. Steve Carell, the show's awkward boss Michael Scott, was the first to break out when The 40-Year-Old Virgin became a blockbuster in 2005, after The Office's first season.

Now that Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski and Rainn Wilson have become stars on the NBC workplace comedy, each has movies coming out within a month of one another, and more are on the way.

Wilson, best known as the uptight office freak Dwight, is up first with the family fantasy The Last Mimzy, opening Friday. He plays a New Age science teacher whose two young students discover a doll that links to the future.

On March 30, Fischer glams up her usual Pam-the-receptionist look as the duplicitous center of a love triangle between Jon Heder and Will Ferrell in the skating comedy Blades of Glory.

Krasinski rounds out the list April 20 with Smiley Face, co-starring as the repressed wannabe boyfriend of the comedy's marijuana-numbed heroine, played by Anna Faris.

"We're all happy with the opportunities we've been given, and we're all doing very interesting, diverse projects," Wilson says. "(Office producer) Greg Daniels said after The 40-Year-Old Virgin came out, 'We're starting the show with one movie star and we're going to end the show with four movie stars.' He really believes in us." Nobody plans to leave the TV show, however. "If the movies came first, we'd all still be dying to be on The Office," Krasinski says.

Fischer says they weren't sure The Office would get on the air, let alone be a springboard. "Rainn, John, Steve and I went to a little diner down the street from our studio. We were saying, 'You know what? Chances are, nothing is going to happen with this show, but we're proud to be a part of it, and we need to make sure we have a lot of fun shooting this one episode.' "

They just finished their 50th episode. Carell, coming off the success of last year's Little Miss Sunshine, has the summer comedy Evan Almighty, sequel to Bruce Almighty, due June 22. He also is about to shoot Get Smart.

"Imagining this, I didn't ever think it was possible," Fischer says. "It's so cool to look at them, because to me, they'll always be Rainn and John, but for the world they're turning into Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski. They're a first and last name now."

I'd love to scrub her up. wink wink nudge nudge

Damn another week and a half until it airs! Roy is going to go Jack Bauer on Jim's ass. And then Pam is going to feel guilty and Karen isn't going to be happy.

I can't believe the end of that video. I didn't think it would actually get physical. Am I the only one thinking that Dwight will be the one who, in fact, goes "Jack Bauer" on someone's ass, and that ass will be Roy's. You don't bring that **** in to Dwight's office. He is an honorary security chief.

I just can't believe he's going to hit Jim at the office. I kinda want to see Jim hit him back. Anyways, can't wait to see how this will end up. I like how Michael says at the end of the video, "A crime of passion, Jan, not a disgruntled employee, everyone here is extremely gruntled".

I don't know if Dwight will join in the fight. but as honorary security chief, I think he will just help in stopping the fight. probably just hold down Roy until he calms down.

Somehow, I think, we'll see Roy in a Anger Management class with Andy in a future episode.

So I heard that Jenna Fischer is posing 'in the buff' on the cover of the new "Wired" magazine:

WIRED 15.04 Jenna Fischer Cover
The April cover of WIRED features a package of stories about radical transparency, our notion that the next model of business success is laying your company bare to the world—sharing secrets with your rivals, blogging about ideas as you have them, and copping to fumbles and foibles as you make them. The concept was crisp, but we all struggled with how to portray a pretty complex idea in the three-second visual byte that is the modern magazine cover. If you're talking about transparency, the obvious metaphor is clear: you're naked.

So of course, WIRED being WIRED, we wanted a cover that was smart and showy. And as Creative Director I wanted something that hadn't been done before. We settled on the idea of printing on clear acetate. But it had to be interactive. Now you’re in a business suit—now you’re not.

Then we wrestled with the question of how to best show the real goings on inside the modern American office. How about using “The Office” as a model? And who would we like to see practicing what we're preaching? Dwight? Ehhh...notsomuch. Of course, Pam. So we called NBC and pitched our idea and
Jenna Fischer (thankfully!) liked the idea.

Michael Elins photographed her in Los Angeles in a dingy little studio. And yes, the whole thing is real; we shot it in two parts, Jenna in her business suit and her birthday suit (really). She was a great sport about the whole thing. Funny and endearing.

And no, I don't have outtakes.

Jenna is definitely gorgeous in a business suit or naked.

I'm definately going to browse through this magazine at my local Barnes and Noble to see if there's other photos of Ms. Fischer. ..............and then check out the articles on robert rodriguez and quentin tarantino, albert einstein, and the worst practices from The Office. When does this hit bookstores?

The naked one is photoshopped if you can look at a bigger picture.

^^If you mean she didn't pose nude, it's real. The dress is part of a transparent overlay for the cover of the magazine. Here's a few larger scans.

This is a very long 5 week break.

there aren't :( I went and bought that issue of wired on my lunchbreak yesterday...there's not even an interview or anything!

From those cover pictures, I'm convinced she'd look incredible in a '50s style photo shoot. You know what I mean?

I can't wait for this series to come back, I want to see what Jim looks like with a black eye. I say that because that's only as far as Roy will get before Dwight judo chops him in the head.

Everyone don't forget, ALL-NEW 'The Office' tonight, at 7:00pm! Not 7:30!! And if you set your DVR or whatever, it's going until 7:45!!!

EXTRA-LONG OFFICE with the confrontation b/w Jim and Roy! :wow:
