The Official TIH Preview Thread

I think this thing is getting blown WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY out of proportion. There will be a sequel to TIH if it does well at the BO. Norton and the rest, I think) are signed on for three movies. Also, him and Frenchy have said (paraphrase) this movie is a set up for others. Fear not True Believers, The Hulk will return in The Rampaging Hulk in 2011. *Just Cracker Jacks guess*

Excelsior!
I think we'll know if we're getting a sequel or not on Monday, June 16th.

i think if hulk does good it will spawn sequels, i mean like norton said they left out stuff on perpose and they had to envision it in parts, i mean how would the signifigance of setting up sterns for another movie work if theyre hesitant about sequels ?
i personally think this type of franchise could end up in a trilogy.
i remember sam raimi and tobey mcguier saying they think spidey's done at the third movie, but now theyre discussing spidey 4 & 5.
so i wouldnt give up on sequels just yet.:word:

IM opened at 100 million dollars... for a premiere film to do that... the sequel is guaranteed... TIH will need to do just as much. Even then I don't think Marvel is announcing any more new plans this year considering they have already released their official comic book slate through the next three years (Hulk sequel not included).

No reason to put the cart before the horse. Lists can be changed or added to.

I know Spidey, I would have used the same comparison with SR and I am a SR lover

I think you mean Saturday June 14th :woot:
I was referring to the full weekend box office, which normally determines these things, but you might be right. Our reactions that will be plastered across these boards on June 14th might be just as good an indicator whether we'll be getting a TIH 2. :)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. We're all geeked up now but when the 13th rolls along...........................well it is Friday the 13th and all.

I also think that TIH will have to pull down IM numbers, or close to them, to give us a sequel.

I just skimmed through that, as i don't want to be too spoiled, but alot of us predicted that Hulk's origin could/would be shown during the title sequence...and we got our wish

I can't wait for this movie.

even though i think avengers would be cool on big screen i dont think it will happen as soon as marvel thinks, so that opens time to do hulk sequels they could even film TIH 2 & 3 at same time.
what bothers me is that the avengers dont really have the best on screen characters i mean c'mon 'ant man'. Thor, cap, hulk, iron man have good chances for a movie, but i think ant man should be replaced with black panther because i dont think ant man has the best movie chances just because of his character.

I'm pretty sure that since they're making it, Marvel's thoughts on when Avengers will happen are a little bit more educated than your's. And clearly you know nothing of Ant-Man's (aka Giant-Man's) character and personality if you think it wouldn't fit the screen.

Also, I think we'd probably be seeing TIH2 in 2012 at the earliest, with Leader as the villain. That all depends on DOM gross, though.

I hope they haven't skipped the arctic scene. There are shots of it in the trailer so lets hope it stays in.

According to the track list of the score on Amazon.com, the scene is there right before the title sequence.

So the hulk vs. abom yahoo clip begins after the initial face-off from the trailer. Hulk being the "loser" of that face-off. Interesting.

Abomination actually refers to him as Hulk? I wasn't expecting that. Cool.

Pym didn't stay as Ant man all that long. He soon figured out the reverse angle to his size changing formula to become Giant -Man (lame name, I know, but I guess they could go with 'Goliath').
I think if they do have the Wasp too (and I would think they will) then having 2 small size changers would be a bit redundant.

Other than the comic book original Avengers (Thor, Iron-Man, Hulk, Ant-Man and Wasp (& Cap who joined shortly after) who else do Marvel hold the film rights too?

Yup, I'd be surprised if they have removed that scene.

Think of the Auschwitz prologue at the start of X1. It'll be like that I'd imagine.

Your right, hopefully they just switched the scenes around or even kept them as they are. Seem to remember something about a flashback during the arctic scene. So if they have got rid of the flashbacks I hope they didn't scrap the whole arctic scene too. One of the appeals of this movie are the different locations IMO.

Yeah but the same could be said about Superman and look at SR numbers.
I don't see the relevance of your answer to my post. The Hulk is very popular and makes tons of cash in merchandise...tons. I don't want to make this a Marvel vs DC post, but while Supes and Batman are the faces of DC, Hulk and Spidey are the faces of Marvel. The comparison in movies isnt fair. Marvel makes more money and will continue to smoke DC in that department and in the merchandise dept, Marvel makes more money there too.

I'm going to cross my fingers on a sequel. If the Hulk is successful, I believe Marvel will be selling themselves short if they don't produce one. Afterall, they have nearly endless source material.

"Return of the Beast"--2012 (I know its a bit of a rip-off title, but I think it's cool).

Why assume 4 years before a sequel?

The turnaround on this one (once it was greenlit) was what? About 18 months?

Trust me I am not trying to turn this into a DC vs. Marvel or Hulk vs. Superman post either. I was simply using Superman as a comparison b/c he is the most well known superhero of all and sell a ton of merchandise, but SR wasn't the huge BO hit many expected.

I'm just saying I believe TIH will be the same. In fact I don't even know if it will make more than Ang Lee's Hulk. That's not to say I don't think it'll be good movie, I'm sure it will. However IMO people wont care to see this movie.

Hope I'm wrong

Marvel has a "2 films per year" policy, and 2010/2011 are already booked up.

Ah, I see. Is this a financial policy rather than a creative one?

I'm just thinking it would not really be good business for Marvel to pass up on shorter time frame sequels to any hits they might have (Like Iron-Man for instance, I would think will surely have a sequel by 2010) If the Hulk scores well too, again, waiting anything more than 3 years does seem to be somewhat wasteful.

Ok so the same clips were shown that we've already saw, with exception of the intro, and the beginning of the final battle scene where Bruce jumps off the chopper. I'm stoked regardless, but i was like some of you, i was disappointed when they said that wasn't a possibility of trilogy for the franchise. (Boo!)

I think that Kevin's quote is taken out of context. Here's what he said:

"Feige: I don't know about a trilogy, but certainly an ongoing saga and as the crossovers continue, I think the Hulk could pop up perhaps in other Marvel movies as well… "

I take that to mean, not just three movies, a beginning, middle and end, but much like the comics an ongoing saga with guest appearances here and there.

I hope that this movie makes tons of money. I want to see a movie titled Irresistible: the Incredible Hulk vs the Juggernaut...It's my fantasy match-up.
