Personally, I'd love to interview him since there are a ton of questions I'd love to ask him but given just one thing to say?

Mmmm....

I'd just say what a big fan I am and what a pleasure it is to meet him.

(That's probably not what you thought I'd say, is it? ;) )

Exactly. It really depends on the appropriateness of the situation. Bumping into a celebrity on the street or a restaurant is a completely different circumstance than say a press junket interview set up to promote a show or film. I'd basically play it by ear. I'm not even sure I'd have the ballz to say anything at all. I also get the feeling he's the type of actor that just wants to be left alone, and I wouldn't want to infringe on that space.

There was that fan encounter described by the security woman at the Eiffel Tower in Paris. She did her job - eyeballed his identification like anybody else and moved onto the next tourist. It would have been out of place for her to say *anything* to him beyond the responsibilities of her job. I commend her for that. Doesn't mean she wasn't allowed to have weak knees in the process though - a reaction I most likely would also have had in her place. LOL

True... if I were working or something, like the security woman in Paris, or I just saw him on the street I probably wouldn't say anything at all. I'd try to respect his privacy...

If I met him socially, like at a party or something, or if a mutual acquantaince introduced us then I'd say the above.

I think that it's like any other situation, you have to be courteous and considerate of the situation. Obviously, I'd never interrupt anyone having dinner or who was clearly otherwise occupied. If I saw a celeb I admire just walking down the street or in another casual situation, I'd have no problem going up and letting them know I'm an admirer of their work. If it was Tom then I'd walk away gracefully, go around the corner, and throw-up. ;):D

I did meet Roger Daltrey once at a con.. I tried to shake his hand and he grabbed me and gave me a big bear hug. Fortunately, my friends were smart enough to take pics. I also walked by Eric Clapton while I was shopping downtown Chicago one day.. I didn't want to say anything to him though, he was with friends. When I met Trent Reznor (who I was a BIG fan of) I wasn't intimidated at all for some reason. Up close they all put their pants on one leg at a time. ;)

Hah! Found this manip in my travels. Cute.
Not too shabby actually, eh? ;)

I did meet Tom at Rite Aid once, and he seemed fine with being approached..my friend approached him and I tagged along (I had no idea who he was, and I was still awestruck by his beauty) He chatted sweetly, and even asked me a question. Basically, celebrities are like anyone else--sometimes we're in the mood and sometimes we're not. I guess you can gauge the situation and say something simple and safe and let him take it from there.
But bothering people while they;re eating, working out, or god forbid in a bathroom is a big no-no to me. I tend to leave people alone if they're with their significant other too.

Methinks Melly needs to give a more detailed accounting of this encounter. :)

Please?

Also, I just realized we may have a mutual friend, Melly.. check your PMs.

AND?????? What he say? What did your friend say? What was his question? ....................

LOL, sorry. I was living in Los Angeles at the time, I moved a year ago..the Rite Aid in question is at the corner of Fairfax and Sunset. Um..well..as far as what he said.. I don't remember that much of what my friend and him talked about. She did some work for the WB, so she was talking to him about that. I unfortunately was staring at his eyes, trying to decide what color they were (all of them I eventually decided, with blue and green being dominant, as we all know:D) Anyway, because I was being oh so polite and staring at the poor man like an idiot. He smiled, looking a little amused and asked me if I watched the show. I decided to be honest, and said "No, I don't..but I will now!"..yeah I said that, lol. He laughed a little and I swear he blushed. My friend confirmed he did as well, so lets say he did:) This was in 2003, in April or May, I can't remember, probably May. So he was probably about to, or had started CBTD.
Anyway, so thats my exciting story, I just wish I had known who he was so I would have paid closer attention, but damn I was too busy thinking he was probably the most attractive man I'd ever seen.

And I didn't keep my promise...I only started watching after seeing the premiere of season 3, by accident at the Grove in LA, while shopping--on a huge screen--Tom in Exile on a big screen, I had no chance, lol. Then I was hooked:)

Wow... your story rocks!!! Nothing like getting an invitation to watch the show from the man himself. See WB. You have no one else to blame for your slacking ratings but yourselves. Just put Tom in the aisle at the grocery store. People will take a sample and come back for more. :D

Oh, MAN! Melly, now THAT's a story.

Too funny that you got into the show because you MET the star. Now that's a new one, ahuh. Talk about an arse backwards way of becoming a fan LOL!!!

Y'know, you're probably not too far from the truth, in a silly kind of way, of course. A huge part of SV's marketing angle is selling the image of its stars. I'm a big Superman fan, and that's w/o a doubt why I STARTED watching SV, but Welling has kept me there. In spades. Maybe it's just me, but TW is why I continue to watch the show. And buy the DVDs. For myself and as gifts. And tell friends and family to watch the show. On the WB *and* ABC Family...

you find vampirism hot? Or does it depend on the vampire?
Literally? Oh, hell no. But the act in fiction has its appeal. Chloe licking her finger tips in Spell after clawing Clark's chest with her nails was HOT HOT HOT!!! LOL ;)

I'll go with Pat's answer.. Literally, uh.. no, but fictionally I've read my share of hot vamp books. In fact there's a character in a series I've read that happens to be a vamp that I think Tom would be perfectly cast as.

The idea of Tom as a sexy creature of the night... Let's just say.. that works. ;)

Yep, I totally agree.

I started watching only because of my sister said I should (it's a show about Superman after all) but I stayed watching because of Tom.

I've even converted a few people with my reviews too. Oddly enough. I really don't think my thoughts are all that profound, just Smallville geeky, but some of my writer friends have begun to watch the show.

I recommended they watch the Pilot tonight on ABC Family to see why I fell in love with the show.

Gawd, but the Pilot is some great TV.

One guy who's very esoteric in his tastes even said "That Lana Lane (sic) is one hot chick. I can see why so many people like this show!" ;)

Yes, it was....

There's something very sexual about how vampirism is portrayed in movies and in books...

One reason I hated Van Helsing is because the Vampires weren't sexy, except in their human forms.

Their transformation into something more or less resembling demons took out any appeal that story may have otherwise held for me.

Love or hate Tom Cruise as Lestat, there is no denying that Interview With A Vampire was a very sexy film.

And Brad Pitt as a Vampire? That was very yummy and I don't particularly find either him or Cruise all that appealing.

Now, if someone put Tom Welling into a Vampire film, they'd quickly become "Midas rich."

Eh, I have to admit I started watching it just because of Tom too. One time I was home sick and was flipping through the channels and he was on the screen. I was just staring at him and had no idea what the show was about.
Later, I tried to tape the show. I didn't even successfully tape the whole episode, but I watched that tape over and over. I'm pretty sure it was Metamorphisis. By that time, I had figured out if was about Superman. My family told me they watched it and it was good and the rest is history.

You know I may actually get the chance to meet Tom. They are doing interstitials for my station about real life heros and they wanted TV heros to introduce the spots. They were trying to get Tom, Dean Cain, etc. I doubt Tom will do it. But I actually don't think I'd want to meet him at work, especially if he is as quiet as everyone says he is. It's boring sitting with the celebrities. You know they just want to get the job over with and leave. And I usually feel the same way. I wouldn't mind running around getting swag for Tom so much though. ;)

I watched a lot of BtVS, but not all of them. Spike was definitely hot. Not TW hot of course.. but he definitely made the show more fun.

Who needs a manip of Tom as a vamp? He's already got the fangs. ;)
(I think his little fangs are very sexy)
