Well I certainly dont know for sure, and I believe he has two dogs, so this answer probably fits, in that he was home at the moment just with his dog.

If you think about the interviewer's question, if Tom had answered "well I live with my wife" the interviewer may have come off looking stupid as he obviously didnt do much research. My thought is Tom was saving him the embarrassment.

Also I think Tom mentioned in another radio interview a couple of years ago, that she does alot of visiting. So she is probably out of town.

Other than those guesses, I dont really know.

Ok, I've been holding back from asking this because I didn't want to seem... well obsessed. But why did Tom say in one of the latest radio interviews posted at James site that he just lives with his dog right now? I have no idea why but it's been bothering me since I read it. All these celebrity couples splitting has made me nervous that everyone is getting a divorce. Tom still lives with his wife right? Was he just joking? Was he saying she wasn't home *right then*? Anyone know?
My stab in the dark? Either she wasn't home at the time of the interview, or he just didn't want to get into a potential personal discussion with the interviewer about his S.O. You know how private he can be about that stuff. Only other thing I can think of is that he was at some temporary apartment that he might use. A lot of working celebs maintain more than one apartment/house in various cities so they don't have to stay at hotels when they're away. Not saying that that's the answer here, but I'm sure Welling could afford a few cribs if he wanted 'em.

She rides horses competitively (she does dressage according to one interview I read somewhere and that's difficult to do well) and riding horses seems to involve a lot of early morning training....

I know when I was a teen my horseback riding lessons were like at 7am... I'm so not a morning person, which is one reason why I gave it up.

I wasn't good enough to compete at it anyway, so I figured what was the ponit?

Anyway, she coulda been training...

He wasn't even at home yesterday, and that should be as much of an answer as anyone needs ... personal questions weird me out as it is, and since yesterday I've received far too many of them. What was up with his wedding ring? Why did he say it's just him and his dog? What in the how in the where whaaa? Ugh.

:(

Well you should just have the answers, you know that.:D

Even if I did have the answers, I wouldn't be giving them to anyone else. It's not my place or business to do that.

personal questions weird me out as it is,
See! This was exactly my fear in asking. When I read the article, I tried to shrug it off but I seriously did get that nagging, 'WTH is he talking about' thought in the back of my head. It was not a judgment of him or a "need to know" situation. I pretty much know that if he WAS separated we would have heard or we definitely wouldn't have heard, you know what I mean? (Because it would have been officially reported or he wouldn't want anyone, especially the press to know.) But it was the elephant in the room so I figured I'd ask.

The fact that he gushes about his wife is his most endearing quality to me. And he used to love to talk about how he's married, blah, blah, so I was just... surprised. Whatever, I know they're not newlyweds anymore. I'll stop now.

Ok, but one more thing, since I'm being honest. It also needled me when Tom said he wished he had x-ray vision and the host asked him which actress on the show he'd check out and he said all of them. Why did that bother me? Don't know. I know Tom is married and his wife probably doesn't care. Give me 5 minutes and I won't care either. Sometimes I forget he's not a boyscout and then my mind scatters trying to place him among the rest of us. (sigh, it sucks to be a fan.)

He didnt actually say that he would use his x-ray vision to look at the three but if you were asked to pick one, the diplomatic solution would be to pick all of the above.

Now that I will answer, partly because it was funny and partly because tone of voice is everything ... from the tone of voice, I'm pretty sure he only said that because he didn't want to pick one over the others. One happy co-star, two ready to stamp on yer bits!

Thanks guys, I know all that. I'm was just doing stream of consciousness posting. In my thought process for one second I'm all, "He doesn't like any of them, he's married, you idiots." Then I'm like, "Yeah, it's a joke." Every thought has a counter-thought because we never get to hear him say anything so I'm just reading into it. Does no one else do this? Maybe I have that annoying over-protective Chloe gene.

I know you pass on heaps of info on Tom on your website, that's why I go there every day. :)

I tend to take everything said in interviews at face value, just because its the fair thing to do--not honestly knowing someone, its kind of impossible to read into things without creating more than whats actually there..but i know, the mind does its own thing sometimes...he was definitely joking and being his usual diplomatic, non-commital self I suppose...if he protested the question, he'd have made too much of it, when it was clearly just an off-handed joke, so I imagine he took the easiest way out.

I wouldn't worry about asking, NB. I wondered exactly the same thing. He's never been shy about the fact that he's a married guy, in fact, like you said he usually gushes about it. So it did seem odd to me, but I can see where he may have just been referring to who was there at the time.

The x-ray vision thing made me smile. It's nice to see him be complimentary to his castmates like that.

Was I the only one who posted about the Chad Pitt interview? I haven't seen it anywhere else yet ...

I really liked that interview the best. At least Chad seemed to be more familiar with the show.

For some weird reason all I get is 'file not found' message when I click on it..does anyone know if it'll be on the stations website?

Well I saved it, I can send it to you, if you tell me how. Can I just send it as a file attachment in an email.?

I think I explained this to Kiki (was it Kiki?) yesterday. You have to disable your firewall, or add my site as a trusted one, to get the downloads to work. And don't use the "save to disk" function, just click the link and the save box pops up automatically.

I prefer it if people download the videos directly, rather than passing them around by email. It helps me to keep track of them.

(And none of the people discussing it here left a comment for me about it on the ol' site. ;))

I think so, I haven't seen it anywhere else either I don't think...

Hypothetical: If an anonymous benefactor sent someone a very cute and funny picture of Tom goofing around on the SV set, but said someone had no clue under what context it was taken, or of whom it was taken by, should said someone post it?

In terms of answers, I'm looking for the moral view, not "dammit, I wanna see the picture."

Well, dammit I want to see the picture but morally... I'm not sure what to tell you.

Unless its obviously a paparazzi photo, I think it's probably pretty gray whether to post it or not. Maybe it also depends on what is going on in the photo?

Is Tom the only person in the photo?

Was it a photo he obviously knew was being taken?

Is it something, should it come to light, that he might be embarrassed by?

Hypothetical: In this scenario he definitely knew it was being taken, as he's posing for the flippin' thing! It almost looks like an outtake from the stills, with the photographer just snapping away at whatever's happening on set ... in that case previously mentioned someone shouldn't even have it, never mind do anything with it.

Embarrassing? Not reallly, but you can never be too careful.

Maybe you should send me a copy, just so I can be better able to give any advice... ;)

I do prefer to work from a position of fact, not hypotheticals.

:D

You can't send hypotheticals as an attachment. :p

Besides which, previously mentioned on numerous occasions someone, will either be sharing or not sharing depending on the kind of replies given here. No middle ground.
