Yeah, Tom is way better looking that that other guy... Oh, well.

Success is the best revenge. Tom will probably go off and have a great career doing bigger roles while BJ is is stuck in the blue tights for the next ten years.

You can't have a bigger role on this planet than Superman or Jesus...

I have to say I saw that new young guy from Desperate Houswives on Ellen Wow what an immature idiot. It just reminds me how well Tom has handled his fame at such a young age.

yes you can, and to prove it. the onl person to havethe highest sucess withsuperman is reeves. even though many other have taken the mantle.

I'm talking about a major motion 170 Million Dollar Hollywood Blockbuster FRANCHISE about the most well known Comic character on this earth my friend.....NOT TV shows.

Think of it this way.....where does Tobey Maguire go from here? He'll be known as Spiderman for the rest of his life.....I doubt he'll get a higher coveted role. I can't think of one....Same goes for Jim Caviezel, everything you do is a step down from these iconic figures. Welling has the luxury of never putting on the tights and flying around on movie screens. He can do whatever he wants...so long as he chooses his roles right. Then again, Smallville will be around for another year or so. He has time to think about it.

You mean the guy who played Van McNulty, Jesse Metcaffe?
I caught that too.

He was cute enough, I suppose, but probably not the brightest bulb in the pack...

Boy, I made what I thought was an off-hand remark and look at what I started...

My point was mostly that I thought that Tom is better looking than Routh. Also I think he has a pretty good chance at having a very nice career without having to do at least three films playing the same character he's already been playing for almost 4 years...

Point taken. Though, I don't think his awesomely good looks will land him in a Spielberg film. He needs Movie pratice....a few indie films would be good..hell let him grow a beard....anything that seems different for him.

That goes without saying... he needs to something completely different, which is why CBTD was probably a mistake. Charlie Baker was too similar to Clark...

Grow a beard, he doesn't apparently like to shave anyway ;), do something edgy and totally different. Even play a bad guy.

Hopefully he knows this...

he and MR could do a cop buddy flick ala SuperTroopers....haha
I don't know about that, but doing a romantic comedy would also be a good choice... He's been pretty funny in some of the lighter episodes and has expressed some interest in doing a romantic comedy.

It's the polar opposite of what MR has gone through, he'd been known up until Smallville as a comedian. Now he's so well known as Lex, he probably couldn't get arrested on the set of a comedy.

Maybe TW & MR could do the movie version of Bosom Buddies :p

MR already did that, it was called Sorority Boys.

Yeah, you're right. Spielberg wouldn't work with actors who started out as popular sex symbols doing teen-oriented fare...

DOH!! :p

Give Welling time. He's smart, talented, well-liked in the industry, and already has a following of devoted fans. He's got one helluva future in front of him.

I had a response to this all typed up earlier this evening.. but the Windy City is living up to it's name right now, and we lost electicity just as I was posting it! Grrrrr...

I have to disagree about these two guys. Both had established good acting credentials before they did their iconic roles. Although I really liked the Spidey movies, it's Tobey's role in Seabiscuit that is most memorable in my mind. The guy was robbed of a nomination, IMO. As far as Caviezel goes, he's also been around enough before doing Jesus to keep him from being typecast. I do think that playing Jesus may affect his career slightly, but it certainly won't derail it.

Let's hope TW chooses wisely and performs well. He is well known for playing Clark/Supes on TV, but he has yet to prove himself on the big screen. CBTD was more of a family film, and his role wasn't large enough to give him a lot of exposure or establish big screen credentials.

Routh is the one who is most in danger of being typecast. His career so far has been virtually non-existent. This is the role that will establish him. Although.. he may not care if he's typecast or not. As long as the movie and subsequent sequels do well, he will end up a very rich young guy and probably will never have to work again, unless he wants to.

Maria from DTS posted the latest SV magazine cover. The issue is due on newsstands Dec 21st...

Looks like a great issue. I love that cover photo, too.

As to the whole typecasting thing, I don't think Welling - or Routh - has much to be worried about. But while the former can go off and do whatever the hell he wants post SV, the latter has to run it by the Brothers Warner until the Supes' sequels are off the docket - and until they're done owning his ass.

Tom has got a great future in front of him.

Looks like a great issue, but WTF is up with Gough and Millar doin' talkin' about the third season?

Haven't they noticed that we would rather hear about Season 4?

NOTE: Didn't they used to asterisk out ass? Since when can we can put that in posts?

Shhhh.. they might be listening.

That cover is drop dead gorgeous..I'm looking foreward to reading that interview. I actually hope he gets attached to something big I think he's ready.

Anyone catch EW's breakout stars of the future? They listed He Who Shall Not Be Named But Whose Name Sounds Like South, and directly underneath was featured good ole Lois, Erica Durance.

Just thought it was interesting that hte editors of EW (a Time/Warner publication) would (subconsciously) link the Superman movie with Smallville. Goes to show, even the general public might be wondering why Superman's not playing Superman.
