It does!

My first introduction to Supes was with the George Reeves' TV show. As a kid, it never really "clicked" with me (despite the opening monologue over the credits) that he was an ALIEN. Yeah, I'm weird - and wasn't too swift as a kid, I guess LOL. I noticed the weird stuff though, like Reeves' "Clark" had more than one Superman costume that he kept on hangers in his closet. Hee!

When the Donner pic came out, a whole new world was revealed. I had no clue who Lex Luthor was, didn't know that Superman was basically immortal, and I chuckled at how goofy Clark was (compared to G. Reeves' version.)

I'll skip over Superboy and L&C for brevity LOL.

After watching SV for four years (not to mention reading the comics - which help a GREAT DEAL, I'll admit), I've got a whole new appreciation for this alien who "came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men." I almost envy the newbies who are just *now* discovering and enjoying the myth through SV. That's pretty dern cool, if ya think about it. :)

Yeah, it is.

I think I first got exposure to Superman from the reruns of the George Reeves' show but didn't fall in love with the mythos until Donner's film.

Read a lot of comics back then, but Smallville revived that for me. Made the mythos more dynamic (it is kinda stodgey, dontcha think?) and more meaningful. As cool as I thought Superman was before, I don't think I understood him like I do now.

And that's thanks to Smallville rebooting the origin and Tom Welling creating a highly sympathetic character....

It's why I love the show and Tom so much.

Smallville did it for me I have to admit I like characters like Wolverine and Batman a little darker and more complex. Smallville made the character relatable to me. I don't hold the Donner movies in high esteem they were fine but that's why I'm not as excited about the movie BB and X-3 however even Fantastic Four. Spiderman I think has been done well but he's way too jokey and silly at times. Overall in the TV/Film media I have preferred Smallville to all other incarnations of the genre.

I really liked the X Men and Spidey films, but as far as supes goes I think Smallville is doing it best. I'm not sure I agree it's the best adaptation of a comic ever, flims and tv are so different it's hard for me to compare them on a one to one basis, but I do believe it's the best TV version of any comic.

Far better than Lois & Clark or STAS or The Batman.

It's not far better than Lois and Clark's first 2 seasons though. Welling and Durance are both playing the characters the SAME way they were played by Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher imo :o Of course season 3 and mostly 4 took a HORRIBLE turn :( Smallville has not had continuity at all, but it's not jumped the shark (in spite of Krypto, ughhh) yet imo and it's in much better shape than L&C was at it's 4th year. Maybe that's due to spacing out the episodes and the season in general instead of speeding through the creative process. It means more ideas spaced over time but apparently is causing the lack of continuity. A trade off I suppose. But I'll take good episodes that don't fit together every week than a bad saga of episodes that are sh**.

i disagree with you on season 4 though. I ha e alot of friend who stopped watching the show during season 3 but have all felt that season 4 had lifted the show back to its original track, mind you most of these people don't read comic books.

I think season four is Better than three. I reaheeaallly hated that Adam storyline with the blood platelet thingy...

That was stupid.

The Witch storyline is brilliant in comparison.

No no no... I meant on L&C it took a horrible turn where as on Smallville it's kept it's steam with good episodes even though there is a lack of continuity. Dig?

I enjoyed the Adam story line because from the start I predicted where it would go and argued with those that tried to convince me it was Bruce Wayne. :D

Oh, Gotcha.

BAH it still aggravates me that L&C was so damn good the first season and most of 2  WHY DID IT HAVE TO TAKE THE TURN??????? I think this happened because of the fans bugging them for Lois and Clark to get hitched. It just turned Lois into a regular nag and Clark into the regular nice guy who puts up with it. Totally messed up the dynamic they had which Smallville is now using between Welling and Durance.

I wasn't 'round here then, did people complain about that last year like they are with the Witchy storyline?

I've asked that before and I don't ever remember getting a response....

They complained when they found out he wasn't Bruce Wayne. Up until that point people were happy with the storyline then they turned on it.

like jcdc said they all thought he was bruce and all. i didn't post that much then to follow the story line on th boards, but most people thopught he was bruce.

Yet I was the first one to predict story line and it turned out I was EXACTLY right

I was all for Adam also, until they introduced the fact that the blood platelet subplot was involved, ... that **** was just weird.

I didn't realize he was supposed to be Bruce Wayne (or potentially could have been) until much later.

I turned on the plot line too.

Okay, whose got the link to Singer and the \S/ tat on that dude's butt? Now THAT was shweet! :D ;)

Oh, and before I'm flamed, I actually *liked* that photo, as sick as it sounds LOL. No, really, I did. :)

No doubt. That's where I first saw it, but I aint gonna go looking for it. I *may* have saved it at home, but I doubt it. I'll check later. It was one of those silly pics that you just have to like, even though it's hard to admit to it. LOL
