Hey I still can't get on DTS did anyone read the interview with the guest star on Talisman? It said he talked about Tom and I was wondering if he said anything interesting.
Really? You can't get on at all? Okay, try this...

1. Clear your cookies.
2. Clear your cache.
3. Restart your computer (just to be thorough).
4. Go back to DTS and set up a NEW user acct.

That should do it. [Keeps fingers crossed for Lara]

At a guess I'd say you're probably not going to find a larger copy of the exact image that was posted on Filmstew, as it was taken by their in-house photographer. I don't know whether she ever syndicates her images through agencies.

Well poop.
If James doesn't have it, then it's doubtful it's out there. :(
At least I have the small one.

Not a whole lot, but it was a very complimentary interview about his time on SV. I'll email it to you.

Good luck getting back on DTS. Have you tried just clicking Forum? I never show up as being logged in on the main page, but I am when I go to Forum.

Hehehe... If I know James, he'll retort with something to the effect of, "I never said I didn't have it, just that you're probably not going to 'find' a larger copy." :D

*giggle*

I've learned over time. I'm still learning, in fact. Wait... this one will make folks laugh. Here's a funny James' anecdote:

Rumpuso (I think it was Rumpuso?) posted a promo photo of "Clark" over in the Actor's forum at K-Site. I have the same one, and two other versions of the photo that I've acquired in my travels. One came from an eBay auction. The image was (supposedly) of the poster that the person was auctioning. I didn't buy the poster, but I snarfed the image. It's nice. Here it is:

poster2.jpg

So I posted it for her so she'd have a "clean," "original" copy. Come to find out months later (this morning, actually) that the image was not a photograph (apparently) of the poster being sold. JAMES touched it up from a previously existing ad with text from The WB. LMFAO!!! The seller just lifted it from his site - or somewhere - and used it to sell his stuff. Jeeze!

(off to the post office ;))
Oh boy! [Pat waits with baited breath.]
If I disappear for a few days, you'll know why. :D

The problem is more pervasive, Scarlett posted this over there:

Admin shared with the Mods last night that the problem is being worked on. If anyone is having problems logging on to DTS, then can use the DFN logon instead. So far, there haven't been any reported problems with DFN.

When I went to DTS this morning it didn't remember me, even though the auto login has been working just fine for quite some time....

Try the Devoted Fans URL instead.

Clean, but with a very feint watermark. ;) Here's a tip: If an image has a 1px white border around it, the chances are that it came from my site. All of my images had (and still do have) a border.

Come to find out months later (this morning, actually) that the image was not a photograph (apparently) of the poster being sold. JAMES touched it up from a previously existing ad with text from The WB. LMFAO!!! The seller just lifted it from his site - or somewhere - and used it to sell his stuff. Jeeze!
That's possibly not the worst part. That seller may have had a real poster and just used a fake image to advertise it, but so many sellers sell computer prints...

You have to be so careful on ebay.

Have you seen the birthday greetings thread at DTS lately? I think it's sooo neat to see how far and wide TW's appeal is, and that has to be a really small sampling of people who are on the internet and who read fansites. Imagine what the actual numbers are!

Seriously.. besides the entire U.S., Canada, and U.K... there's Russia, United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Hungary, Greece, Dom. Republic, Slovakia (I don't even know where that is :)), Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa, Taiwan, Australia, Sweden, Brazil, Germany, Equador... Amazing!

No Japan or China.. I assume SV isn't shown there?

Anyway, I know a few of us are already on there ;), but it's still a very cool thread. I have to think that it would make any actor happy to receive such positive global feedback in the form of positive wishes.

Yeah, my sis shelled out some serious coin for a "photo" of an actor (I think it was Russell Crowe) and it turned out it was from a scan, not a real photo.

I think she made some sort of deal with the guy, after the fact, to get more merchandise instead of getting her money back.

I've done birthday threads for the past two years, and then mailed the messages. It seems DTS may be copying. ;)

Tom hasn't responded though - I suspect the gushing may freak him out.

Last year there were well over 100 messages in total on my news board and (currently defunct) message board, so the whole global appeal thing is no surprise to me at all. I'll be starting my thread on April 1st as that's when I always have done it before; I dunno, march seems a little early.

Knowing almost every photo at a glance can be beneficial. ;) I can usually tell where images may have come from. If in doubt on a picture of Tom, ask the guy who created Brandalf.

Maybe, I think it was a fan suggestion that started this ball rolling though.

That's a real shame. :(

I'll keep that in mind if ever I go in search of photos on eBay!

:D

I really envy your undoubtedly huge collection of Tom photos...

Nope, wasn't me. I just referenced it, gushed, inappropriately drooled, spilled more coffee, then hobbled off.

I thought Scarlett started the thread and then a member suggested designing a card. I think. Ah well, not important.

Well I'll be happy to wish him well twice. :)
Shocking! ;)

It's not as huge as you might expect, but it's very carefully formed. I have a few rarities for sure. Hmm, I might sell my collection on ebay... for thousands. :p

Serene said:

Actually, I know for a fact that it's shown in Japan (where it's called "Young Superman," incidentally.;) )

I believe it's also broadcast in China. I know HK shows it.

Weird. I haven't had any problems... Yet. I hope I don't encounter any. It's bad enough BlueTights has its issues with Netscape users; I don't want to be locked out of DTS too. *sigh*

Serene said:

I... um, uh... Why YES! I agree! We're on the same page girl. ;)

Holy schitt! I SWEAR I never noticed that. And I chuckle at the folks over at DTS who get spanked for posting your watermarked photos. The marks are not that easy to detect, but they're not invisible either. I would have been *mortified* if I posted that image over there. Jana (who is he anyway?) cracks people's knuckles harder than my 2nd grade English teacher used to do. LOL

Tom hasn't responded though - I suspect the gushing may freak him out.
I kept that in mind when I posted my few words. Ya never know how such a thing is gonna go over. A few years ago, "my" group suggested doing one of those name-a-star things. Basically, for a fee, they'll name a star after you and it'll be documented in some astronomical star library somewhere. I guess with millions of stars, there's enough of 'em. Anyway, I dissuaded the suggestion. I thought it was silly, a waste of money and time (I would have had to coordinate it  ) and who knows what the actor would have thought? Laughing at the crazy fans is probably a good bet - and not really a reaction the "gift" was intended to elicit.

I'll be starting my thread on April 1st as that's when I always have done it before; I dunno, march seems a little early.
When's his B-day again? (I'm too lazy to look it up.)

BTW: Note that THIS Friday is April 1st. That's April Fool's Day, folks. Take any "news" posted that day with a grain of salt. Last year, I freaked in big happy geeky ways when I read K-Site's breaking news that day. Then it all came crashing down - a horrible feeling of disappointment and disgust that I got to relive six months later - so beware. Just sayin'. Hopefully, Craig won't be so cruel this year.

Gushing and drooling are always appropriate given this particular subject matter. :D Drool on, but don't hobble off so quickly. And careful - that coffee's HOT! :)

Aight... "real" news: The WB renewed Blue Collar TV with an order of 13 additional episodes beginning this summer. Anybody been keeping tabs on its ratings? There's no WAY it's done better than SV, though it probably costs 1/20th what SV does production wise for the same amount of air time.

That was always the point, the mark was intended to be visible but not invasive - and of course, extremely difficult to remove. ;) The visibility depends on the monitor, and how heavy it ended up being was also dependant on the monitor *I* was using. They're far more visible on LCD than on a standard tube, for instance. Some ended up far more visible than I ever intended, but ah well.

Jana (who is he anyway?) cracks people's knuckles harder than my 2nd grade English teacher used to do. LOL
It's a she. ;) And she's really nice actually, I've spoken to her many times, although not recently. She's just looking out for DTS (and I guess me).

Ya never know how such a thing is gonna go over.
I always kept it simple, a quick note and the best messages. I admit it, I didn't include every message because some were just completely inappropriate or godawful.

I dunno, the thought's in the right place but things like "design a card" competitions etc. seem like overkill. Nice for the members of the site but really fairly pointless in the long run. Like naming a star. :p

When's his B-day again? (I'm too lazy to look it up.)
26th. I always post something special for the day (usually a silly manip or a banner or somesuch. I'm sappy. ;))

And April Fools Day. One year I said Tom would be starring in a remake of Dirty Dancing. Then the following year it was the remake of Three Men and a Baby. This year he really is starring in a remake, so I'll have to come up with a new joke...

What application do you use to make that? I *should* have done that YEARS ago. If you do a Google image search on you-know-who, 98% of the photos you'll find were either scanned or created by me in some way. Now, they're all out there, so there's nothing I can do about it anymore. It's frustrating, but it's the Internet. And I've convinced myself I don't care anymore. Well, sort of. ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong - I have NO problems with anybody over there, at all. I mind my Ps and Qs and try to stay on topic. Iz probably why I like this place so much - we can kick back here and call it home.

Okay, every, group hug. LOL

Preachin' to the choir. I *used* to forward fan mail, either e-mailed or snail mailed. Snail mail I sent in a box, unopened. What I didn't know, didn't hurt me. But e-mail is a different story. Other than the WAY out there stuff, people would sometimes attach photos of themselves and stuff like that. Delete. Delete. Delete. There was no WAY I was gonna get in the middle of that exchange.

Sappy is nice when done right.

No Superman references, James. We will have to KILL you for your cruelty. I wanted to hurt Craig, real bad last year. I wanted his head on a plate, in fact. LOL

AgentPat said:

It's just Photoshop. Create your text, repeating over and over, on a transparent background. Save it as a PNG to retain the transparency. Then just copy and paste it over any image you want to mark, reduce the opacity to a point where it's barely visible, and save.

I don't use that kind of watermark anymore but it does work.

That's *exactly* where I am right now. These days I don't post any images unless someone else has posted them already, that way the image is already out there and I don't have to be concerned.

Ah, the weight is gone. ;)

Oh, don't get me wrong - I have NO problems with anybody over there, at all.
I do. lol I won't name names, but some of them have caused me no end of problems; and the harrassment from some of them was fun. I'm not exaggerating even a little bit.

Sappy is nice when done right.
'Tis. I like sappy.

No Superman references, James. We will have to KILL you for your cruelty.
I don't have a clue what I'll do. Quite sad that I've got no idea at all right now.
