Dark of the Moon The Official Transformers 3 News And Speculation Thread

I can see your point, the only reason I asked the question was because I was involved in this ridiculous conversation about some fans wanting 'Power Rangers' to be all serious and grim dark and all that....

I do think it's a bit unreasonable....at its base, this is a toy franchise....everything that sprang from it has been varied in creativity (comics, cartoons, etc) but it is still a toy franchise...and apparently Hasbro is ok with what the films have been doing

Transformers shouldn't be ****ing Borat, Bruno or The Hangover. If I want to watch that type of humor, I'll watch The Hangover. It's probably one of my favorite comedies. I avoid Borat and Bruno like the plaque though.

There are Movies where those things belong, Transformers shouldn't be it.

I agree with nathan, it shouldn't be borat

however, for people to all of a sudden be "racially offended" and condemn the film for it's depiction of "stereotypes" and sexulized humor?
where were these people when the hangover was becoming one of the most well recieved comdies of that year. The hangovers plot is no better than TF2 yet it's celebrated. People becoming dizzy by the overactive camera and fast paced story line? Where were these people when Crank 2 got greenlit?

just watch, whatever bay has Ken jeong(sp) do in TF3 will be considered "offeisive" yet his most offensive role to date is his one in the Hangover.

Like I said, there are Movies where that type of humor belongs and Movies where it doesn't. Just because I enjoyed The Hangover, that doesn't mean I want to see that type of humor in every Movie. I don't want to see it in Transformers, just like I don't want to see it in Batman or Spider-Man.

if you don't like it there that's fine, but saying it doesn't "belong" there, I don't fully agree

Wait What? You agree with the ******s who want to put dick, fart and racist jokes in kids movies about cars turning into robots?

Thank god you don't work for Pixar.

The jokes in Transformers are crude and tasteless. How is any of it even funny? For crying out loud, Bay is such an idiot he thinks Marijuana makes you drunk!

I know actually wish the Transformers films and in fact all films based on kids TV shows and toys were made by the Disney/Pixar guys. Pixar especially if you want a good story and a moral

That's another thing. Bay's films like all ****** films have no message to teach us.

I was just asking why he feels it doesn't "belong" in Transformers...they pushed it in TF2, having a joke here and there is fine, but it does get out of hand in a lot of films, not just Transformers

Something doesn't belong when it is inappropriate. Laughing and giggling does not belong at a Funeral. I think a robot pissing on a man or a close up of John Turturro's ass in #2 DEFINITELY does not belong in a KIDS film.

You know what? WHERE ARE THE MORAL POLICE? Why are they absent when there are seriously horrid and disturbing things in Transformers 2?

That's what your parents are for. Whether or not you leave a film with a higher understanding of the world has nothing to do with the merit of the film itself, at least when that's not what the film set out to do in the first place.

And also, appropriate and inappropriate are incredibly subjective terms. I laughed at my grandmother's funeral when I thought about how she'd react if she knew how much make-up they'd put on her. It's something she would've appreciated. You can't just generalize your personal standards.

These films are rated PG-13, not G and not PG. So what's with the "kid's film" thing?

so dick and fart jokes are bad but killing and violence is ok

if a filmmaker wants to inject a moral lesson into a film that's fine, but it's not an obligation

Michael Bay has never once claimed his films are meant to evoke deeper thought or change the world...he wants people to have fun, plain and simple....most any interview I have seen him do pretty much boils down to that

I like the guy because he strives to keep as much filming in the US as he possibly can so American crews can get work, not running to Canada like a lot of studios push their directors to do...for all the big spectacle movies he has ever done, he has always come in under or at budget and has never EVER been late on a film

I also like how he tries to use as much physical effects as possible...

I like the guy because he goes on filming the type of films he wants to watch and doesnt cave to the people who think all film should have some deep meaning....and as much as people hate...his films still make money

Yeah, like the one scene in the first movie, where I think it was Bonecrusher? Who was after Sam and the cube. And just cut right through that bus and it exploded. That was all stuff happening in real life. Or like the big highway scene in Bay Boys II with all the cars flying down, that was all real too.

Once again, you can have a fun film without crude humor. Look at Iron Man!
That's what the Transformers film should be like. Smart and witty with genuine jokers and humor.

That's why I admire the guy, he just doesn't care about what anyone else says.

And if you look at his track record he has more hits then misses. I think his only flop was the Island and that movie might have been too complicated for people and it was released at a bad time also in the middle of summer with so many movies already out that year.

i quite enjoyed The Island....

I wanted to like The Island, just couldn't get into it

I still thing 'The Rock' is his best film

Agreed,it's his thing, and he should be allowed to make fun popcorn movies if he feels like it. And I do think that The Rock is his best non Transformers related movie,Bad Boys was ok,the rest have no appeal imo. I'm still hoping for Dr.Smoov type of humor from Bay's Transformers movies, but I'm not going
to hold my breath.

I didn't like the Island the first time i saw it, but I guess its one of those films where your opinion changes when you see it years later again.

And I didn't even know he directed The Rock, I thought that was Jerry Bruckheimer for some reason, I think he was just a producer on that.

I'm thinking that since the Allspark and Matrix of leadership was found on earth in the movies, wether something else like the key to Vector Sigma will end up being stuck on earth in Transformers 3.
