actually if you watch the trailer you'll see that optimus is carried into the battle by a seperate auto bot and they separate upon landing.

wow you´re right, I just saw the jet transform right after leaving OP there, good eye. I hope its Silverbolt.

I've personally never understood that
just about every single war movie ever made has this exact issue but it only seems to be an issue with transformers...

Much like the fights in Batman Begins, I always knew what was going on.

War movies often go for shock and awe, like real war. If you have infantrymen storming the beaches of Normandy, it can work for the story to depict the bloodbath of alike fallen soldiers it turned into. But it's a waste when the characters are the spectacle. I want to see Optimus tear Megatron a new one, not get confused as to whether that's Starscream or Blackout.

you're entitled to your opinion but I'm just hopeful that you acknowledge the other line of thinking.
Bays never made subtle his intent to shoot these films like "War" from the recruitment drive shots to the in battle human perspective, your need to see the characters takes a back seat to immersive cinematography.

besides the bay movies have no characters outside of 2 autobots right, everyone else if fodder if logic holds.

That tv spot was great, this movie looks to be quite intense and I can't wait to see Optimus destroying everything in his way. Plus seeing Bumblebee looking very distraught interests me a great deal.

I enjoyed the sound theme. For me, was different and effective. Not a fan of the way Optimus spins around so much though, but I suppose it goes a bit with being dropped into the battle.

Overall, I thought it looked pretty cool. My almost 7-year old son was very excited!

that's an interesting point
I personally see it as a result of two things.

Much like the new batman, it's his style. And more importantly it's his style when he has his two sabers out(and hot). You don't see wolverine doing jeet kune do or aki do when his claws are out.

And moreover he tends to only pulls this movie when he's surrounded, which has happend twice now. Each time he's done it, there has also been an outside force somewhat pushing him to do it such as a dismounting rocket pack or literally being pushed and shoved. I think the animators and bay have taken all this into account.

That being said I wouldn't mind seeing some new combos myself.

I LOVED the scene in the t.v. spot with Optimus tearing down the street, the whole scope of this movie looks far bigger than the last two (like it should).

I personally like the way Optimus spins and fights around when he's surrounded, it's impressive seeing someone so big move so fluid and graceful.

Even if it was parts from a dead Starscream? Depending on how big Silverbolt will be in the movie he could probably reconfigure himself to attach onto Optimus Prime & not have to die.
