The Dark Knight Rises The Official "What Do YOU Want in the Sequel?" Thread

-A winter setting, snow on the ground, coldest season in Gotham. It doesnt necassarily mean I want to see Mr. freeze or penguin I just think it would be interesting to see somthing different like that.

-The philanthropist side of Bruce Wayne. If all the citizens of Gotham bought the lie and truly are against bats now then maybe batman will try to do the best he can for people as Bruce Wayne...donating to a charities and stuff like that. I think this is a good idea because we all know that Bruce does this we just havent really seen anything like it yet in BB or TDK and to be honest I`m getting a little tired of seeing Bruces `silly side`.

-Yes I want the joker to return but only as a minor villain or short scene. Would have liked to see Bats visit the joker in arkham but i guess thats not going to happen now... It would be a purposful visit tho in which case bats has to find somthing out (possibly about the new villain) through the joker? It would sort of have a Clarice visiting Dr. Lecter type deal lol

-`Who are the five dead?` To be explained

- Wayne manor and batcave

-Most importantly and really all that matters; A story resulting in which case everything turns around and Gothams perpective of Batman changes back to what it should be- their hero, silent guardian, the dark knight, etc.

I agree with all this but I don't see the point of recasting the Joker if he's going to be in just one or two scenes. If the Joker returns, I want him to be a pivotal part of the story, doing things that only he can do. If he can't be worked into the movie in a crucial way, Nolan shouldn't even bother.

The Riddler should be the main villain and at the end of the movie he should figure out batmans identity and batman should fight him without his mask on so we can see bruce wayne as batman without the mask

The Riddler should attempt to reveal batmans identity and in the process batman stops him and in a fight between the 2 the riddler develops amnesia and forgets everything that happened.:brucebat:

i think Batman should trick the riddler into not saying his secret or beat him mentally.

I love these ideas. I especially love the philanthropist side of Bruce showing more.
Maybe even more of Batman interacting with the public like he did in BB. BUT this might not work considering the public may not like him as much as they did

the 5 dead are:

2 cops

Racheal Dawes

Commisoner Lobe

Judge Cerelo(s/p?), she was blown up in her car

^I disagree but I don't want to derail the thread. I'm not even sure Nolan knows who the five dead are so I doubt we'll ever hear about it again.

I'd love to see a bald crazy Batman ala Frank Miller and Darren Aronofsky's Year One. Also a battle ravaged suit would be nice with accordance to an action set piece.

Is it odd that I read this and actually thought of you instead of the character?

I want:

1.) Nolan in the director's chair.

2.) The police or mob to hire a bounty hunter, Floyd Lawton/Deadshot played by Vincent Cassel to bring in the Batman.

3.) The new mob element to be fronted by Roman Sionis/Black Mask.

4.) I want Tony Zucco to be the last of the traditional mob element. A gang war takes place at Haly's Circus fair ground...resulting in the death of many- including the Graysons. Bruce takes the Graysons' youngest son in. On the surface- to improve his image..and really to make up for the failure he had with Harvey Dent.

5.) A detective, Edward Nashton, to be brought in on the case to find the identity of the Batman. After he is brought in, the Batman goes on a spree of murders..

These, coupled with the 5 deaths from The Dark Knight, put an even larger target on Batman's head. Later, it is revealed that Nashton is using his contacts and resources at GCPD to frame the Batman for the murder of police officers. At the scene of each crime, there is a clue that implicates the Batman, but when the Batman takes a deeper look at the clue, they add up to who the real killers next target is, and eventually his identity.

6.) I DO want Nashton/Riddler to discover who the Batman is in the end. But like in Hush, I want Batman to be assured that the Riddler won't reveal the secret because of his compulsive need to be the smartest man in Gotham. If everyone knew the answer to the riddle of "who is Batman?", then it is worthless...

My Villains:

Roman Sionis/Black Mask
Floyd Lawton/Deadshot
Tony "The Boss" Zucco
Edward "Nygma" Nashton/ The Riddler

My Supporting characters:
Harvey Bullock
Rene Montoya
Dick Grayson
Lucius Fox

My Main Characters:
Bruce Wayne/Batman
Alfred Pennyworth
Commissioner James Gordon

I think there should be like a montage peice of Bruce giving money but I also think it should be brought upon by Alfred or Leslie Thompkins that Bruce can save the city like his parents by giving money to charity and foundations

I think he was talking more the two face murders, which would be the cops in the hospital (they'd prob think it was two face) Wartz, Maroni and his Driver and Two Face himself those would be the murders they'd want to cover up.

I'd love to see a bald crazy Batman ala Frank Miller and Darren Aronofsky's Year One. Also a battle ravaged suit would be nice with accordance to an action set piece.

Why? And Year One had hair, the bald Batman was TDKSB

I've done the same thing a few times. Someone else in another thread said he wanted Rachel Dawes to die and I thought "Me? :csad:" before I realized he was referring to the character. This has turned out to be an awkward username. :hehe:

Batman/Bruce without the mask on, but still wearing the suit itself.

We've had sbrief snippets of it. Begins showed Batman from the back without his mask on.

TDK showed Bruce in his apartment, from the side, with his mask off.

It's kinda hard to picture Bruce Wayne underneath the Batman suit, even though you know it's him underneath. I know Batman and Bruce are supposedly to different people mentally, but I think it would be a cool shot, like maybe start the movie with Bruce in the new Bat-Cave, looking at some new villain on a computer screen, with his Batsuit on, but no mask.

agreed!! I hope Nolan does more of this as well.

i like this idea...deathstroke should be a member of the league of shadows since hes an assassin

I like the first thing I posted- If we go with the Riddler, Black Mask, Deadshot and a Dick Grayson subplot.

Or- They could go with a return of the League of Shadows. Bring Talia, Lady Shiva, and Deathstroke.

Talia: Kate Beckinsale
Shiva: Kelly Hu
DeathStroke/Slade Wilson: Josh Brolin

Change it to Maggie Gyllenhaal, since that's how we all picture you anyway. :p

A more cerebral, psychological, mystery crime thriller would be great to see in this next Bat film from Nolan.

I would definitely like to see Selina because she would add an emotional and intriguing dynamic to the story. Bruce needs someone like her in his life and she needs someone like him just the same. It would be great to see a true and more ideal interpretation of Selina/Catwoman onscreen and yes she needs to be a brunette. Perhaps interwine Selinas' tragic past by having Sionis be her father and possibly him being responsible for her mothers murder? Just an idea.....but I know how I would introduce Selina. They would first meet at one of Sionis' company galas and then later during their first official date Bruce and Selina truly connect and fall for each other after she tells him her story which we would see threw a flashback. She would already know the famous Bruce Waynes' tragic past. Sionis would be the head of Janus Cosmetics, and would be portrayed in his 50's in the film. When he was younger, he was a rival of Thomas Waynes' and during that time he met and fell in love with Circe, his executive assistant/secretary. They had a child Selina, but Sionis had dark secrets of course and when Selina was older (perhaps 10-12 years old) her mother Circe witnessed the torture and murder of one of Thomas Waynes' former associates at the hands of Sionis. During the flashback, we would also see the young Selina and her mother playing with the family cat. A henchmen felt sorry for what Sionis was going to do to Circe, so he warned her and Circe hid Selina somewhere at the home but it was too late. Selina hears the murder of her mother, but does not actually see it. While Sionis and his thugs try to dispose of the bodies of both the Wayne associate and Circe, Selina has her chance to dial 911 and the police come but not before Sionis disposes of the bodies. Sionis is aquitted due to the "unreliablity of young Selinas' testimony. However, the court does not allow Sionis custody of Selina, and she is at a boarding home, and then eventually runs away. She is taken in by a "lady of the night/con artist" in the Narrows whose last name is Kyle. The woman still has a good soul and she cares for Selina, but knows that Selina deserves better. She sends her to a local Narrows Martial Arts Master who disciplines, educates, and trains Selina. The martial arts master also has a pet cat, that Selina grows to adore as she once did the family cat at the Sionis home. As she grows older she uses her skills to become a small time thief herself, stealing and vandalizing from big corporations that Janus is associated with and from Janus itself. Bruce also tells Selina he remembers his father talking about the Sionis trial with his mother and was surprised to find out Selina is Sionis' daughter. Selina discloses to Bruce, that she is a social worker (by day of course) and is currently volunteering in the community redevelopment of the Narrows. She even admits to Bruce that she has a resentment toward the Batman and blames him for the mess that occured at the Narrows and that he is part of the reason why Gotham is the way it is....but she still respects what the Batman is trying to do. She of course doesn't let Bruce know of her intent to avenge the murder of her mother and kill Sionis.

I also would love to see the addition of Dr Leslie Thompkins in the next film in a minor yet strong supporting role. She would bring some drama, motherly emotion, and also some potentially fun and flirty scenes with Alfred. An easy way to introduce her would be for Alfred to ask for the assistance of an old flame of his and a former friend and colleague of Thomas Waynes. Her surgical experience is needed to help a badly and critically beaten Bruce after a near fatal confrontation (mainly due to physical and mental fatigue from running from the cops and trying to solve the illegal arms dealing or trying to catch the mysterious Riddler murders) with a hired mob assassin who is also a member of the League of Shadows secretly (possibly Deadshot, Deathstroke, Bane or Lady Shiva). Bruce does not want Alfred to get Leslie involved, but Alfred calls upon her anyway. The scenes between Alfred, Leslie and Bruce should be emotional scenes with some fun also. The scenes between Alfred and Leslie will be fun, witty, and flirty scenes with some good humor. The scenes between Bruce, Alfred and Leslie will be probably be emotional scenes since Leslie will lecture Bruce for being the man behind the cowl and Alfred for allowing Bruce do this and aiding him. This would give us the opportunity to see all three at the Wayne gravesite located on the premises of the new Wayne Manor also. During his recovery it would also allow Bruce to do heavy detective work to try and solve the Riddler riddles or try to catch and prove the illegal arms activity and murder that has been done by Sionis and Cobblepot. Us fans and the general movie audience would finally get to see Bruce in the new Bat Cave do heavy detective work and we can also see Bale/Bruce do some working out in the new cave to get physically and mentally strong again. It would be good to see some heavy bag work, weightlifting, stretching, and weapon work. It would be cool to see him not just working out physically but also mentally, meditating the mind and body in preparation for whats ahead and the rematch versus his would be assassin. With the track that was used when Bruce was testing out the big gun in TDK and when he was painting the suit black in the cave in BB as the background music, these ICONIC and AWESOME scenes would be just great for us fans and the general movie audience to see onscreen.

I feel that Sionis or Cobblepot can work. Perhaps even having them work hand in hand? Penguin doesn't have to be this extravagant heavy baddie for the film and I think he could fit nicely into Nolans world as a minor supporting character (much like Falcone, Maroni, Scarecrow were used) who is a seedy and shady night club owner who is also involved in black market arms dealing. He would be the one who is selling arms to Sionis and his cult/mob members.

I would like to see Batman be more brutal and punish criminals more in this film by seeing some arms, legs, shoulders, hands, knees and noses broken. I would be good to see Batman using his elbows, knees and wrist blades more when fighting and I would also like to see some more brazilian jujitsu and see Batman body slam foes with authority by using jujitsu moves as well. Since we didn't see much of the batarangs and smoke bombs in TDK, I think it's time we see those weapons and gadgets put to use in practical ways and not over the top ways. We got a small peak of those weapons in BB, and this next film would be the time to see the Batman use them when fighting or in stealth mode or when he needs to get away from the GCPD.

I think Batman should have more checkpoints or safehouses in different areas of the city like he did in TDK for him to basically "disappear into the night" when things get dicey around Gotham City, especially with the cops hunting him down.

I still haven't figured out a way to fit Riddler into the mix yet though. I figured out how to incorporate Catwoman, Dr. Thompkins, Sionis, and "Penguin".....but not Riddler quite yet. Plus Gordon and Fox scenes need to be added to the mix. The mysterious hitman assassin, would be relatively easy. In the end I also think perhaps, the assassin should end up killing Sionis (because Batman convinces Catwoman to not do it) remember the assassin would be a member of the League of Shadows, and then toward the end we would see a hint of possibly Talia Head taking over Janus Cosmetics?

Hmm.....let the brainstorming continue.......

I was thinking te league of shadws send two of their best assassins to kill batman which i was thinking could be deathstroke and bane which i think would be a good combo deathstroke being a marksman type and bane being te up-close combat type maybe?

I know it probably won't happen after Ledger's death, but id like Joker to be the villain again. Picking up where TDK left off, Joker is now on trial for the crimes he comitted in TDK. Bruce is now in the newly rebuilt Wayne manor, constantly sulking becuase of what happened to Rachel, and also taking a vacation from being Batman, now that the cops are after him. With Joker gone, Bruce feels Gotham doesn't need him atm and trusts the police to take care of crime. Enter Harleen Quinzel. After evalutaing Joker, she wants to appeal the judge's decision for Joker to die by lethal injection and have him moved to a psychatric facility. This enrages Bruce. Anyway, Joker corrupts Harley, just like he did with Dent and she breaks him free. Prison staff find Harley Quinn laying on the floor, laughing, with scars just like Joker, in Joker's now empty cell. Batman goes after Joker while Harley causes chaos and anarchy, leading a gang called 'Clowns of the Joker' Joker comes up with some new plan that could wind up killing dozens of innocent men, women and children. Bruce comes to realize no matter how many times he puts Joker away, he'll always come back. He has no choice but to kill the Joker, much to Alfred's dismay. Joker probably kills Harley, once she fufilles the tasks he's given her. Batman tracks Joker down, telling him that he was wrong. Batman is not incorruptible. Batman admits he's been defeated and tells Joker he is going to kill him. Big fight scene. Batman paralyzes Joker, while Joker laughs, waiting for the kill. Then Bruce realizes Joker can't do ***** paralzyed. Batman walks away, leaving a paralzyed Joker begging for death. Bruce talks with Alfred, admitting Batman can never 'take a vacation' like he thought at the beginning of the film, as Gotham will always need him, even though they don't want him. He accepts the fact that he will always be hunted. He will forever be gotham's Dark Knight. Some scene with Bruce at his parents graves. Some iconic image of Batman going off into the night as a new crime surfaces. a police officer gets a call saying Batman has been spotted. Dozens of Police cars fly off into the night as well.

Hey Everyone,

what I mainly want to see in the third film which wasn't in Dark Knight at all is some sort of depiction of Bruces training routine.
Begins compressed his years abroad training and gaining skills, and at least showed him doing some pressups while in Wayne Manor, but there was literally nothing in Dark Knight. Any athlete knows that gaining a certain level of ability is a very different thing from maintaining it. I don't want it to turn into a workout dvd by any means, but if we happen to see the cave, i'd settle for even having a bench, and gymnastic equipment like Rings, P bars and such.

The ULTIMATE would be bruce doing freestanding handstand pressups while talking to alfred , can't recall which graphic novel it's from but I remember seeing/reading it and thinking that it was very Bruce.
