my third copy from target still does the same thing. for the time being i have given up. maybe six months from now ill grab another copy to see if anythings changed but for now ill take solace in the fact the i now have a dvd copy as a back up.

1. Turn off the internet connection.

2. Erase all files in the BD Temp folder

3. Erase the X-Men First Class file under the data tree

4. Restart your PS3 with no disc in

5. Put in the movie and be happy that it actually works and looks vunderbar

It's stuff like that that makes me wonder whether I really even want to make the jump to blu ray, you shouldn't have to jump through hoops to watch a movie you should just be able to put it in and watch it.

I have the bluray, and I didn't notice any of these problems when I played it on my PS3. But I've only watched the movie once so far, and I didn't have the broadband Internet connection on at the time. It's unacceptable that this problem even exists though. Fox is a major studio, so they certainly have the resources to make sure their blurays are compatible with pretty much any bluray player, including the PS3, before they are released. They should practice better qaulity control.

It isn't the disc, its the player. Since most (if not all) blu ray players have internet capabilities they often have updates and when the updates hit they some times screw up play back on certain discs.

Like when Sony released their 3D update for the PS3 it caused one of the special features (a picture in picture behind the scenes) to always be on on "Sunshine" and it was permantly locked as well as crippling some other older Fox blu ray titles.

Had nothing to do with the discs and everything to do with Sony's update. However, if you called Fox's customer service and told them about the problem caused by Sony they mailed you brand new factor sealed free copy of "Sunshine" with new encoding so that it would play on the PS3.

i'm kinda mad that they let blu ray get most of the good extras while regular DVD's barely have any. I didnt even bother buying the DVD because of it, even though I wanted to.

Unless the extras are on the non Blu Ray disc as well.

Actually, it is the disk. I have no doubt that Sony has issues, but I've tried my copy of First Class on three different players, including a bluray rom and everyone of them has had problems. The funny part is that if you remove the disk and replay the same scene the problem is gone. After repeated viewing I've noticed that the longer the disk plays the worse the skipping and pixelation gets. Make no mistake this is on Fox.

I tried what you suggested. I noticed it doesn't freeze as long with the 120/24hz turned off. But it still freezes for about 1 second instead of 5.

Finally some numbers on the DVD sales.

According to The Numbers it sold 560,954 units and made $10,013,029 for the week ending Sep 11th (it came out Friday 9th so that's only 3 days worth of sales).

We heard the following week that 60% were Blu-ray sales, so you can probably add another $15m+ to that 3 day total. More solid numbers will emerge over the next few days, but around $20-$25m in 3 days seems pretty good.

Definitely! I seem to recall Wolverine did 30M or something and they were really bragging about those figures. Also to my understanding those FC numbers are JUST for the DVDs, they don't include Bluray. Can't wait to see THOSE numbers, I'll bet they'll be even better.

That's pretty great for it's first 3 days. It also should continue to do well through the holidays and probably a Black Friday push as well.

I saw that on the site but I was confused because they said for the week ending in Sept 11 (so the first three days), DVDs made a little over 10M... sooo shouldn't this total actually be 20M+? I guess they kind of inflated last week's numbers or something...

I'm excited for the BR figures. It's doing way better there.
