Days of Future Past The official X-men First Class BD/DVD thread

my third copy from target still does the same thing. for the time being i have given up. maybe six months from now ill grab another copy to see if anythings changed but for now ill take solace in the fact the i now have a dvd copy as a back up. :csad:

Finally came to the conclusion its my player......can't update mine doesn't have a connection...someone said I could try burning a disc with an update.....i'd rather just dish out $200-$400 and buy a more reliable player...

...$40m I think that's good, won't know until FOX says something...

From the-numbers.com

If from Sept 9-18:

BR $29,401,150
DVD $18,371,918

Then its almost $50M...

Seems nice..do we know about other the x-men movies results?

X2 sold 6 million units in its first five days. The Last Stand sold a million less in its first week (5 million units), and Wolverine sold 2 million less than that (3 million units). First Class is following that downward trend, but so are home video sales in general. First Class appears to be doing well, when compared to other new releases like Thor.

It's quite shocking that X2 made $107m in 5 days when movies are lucky to reach $75m in total nowadays. No wonder studios are focusing so much on box office and opening weekend.

What's not included in the numbers are the online sales from iTunes, Amazon etc. DVD and home media sales are declining, but online sales will have increased over the past 8 years.

Interesting to hear. I wonder where those numbers are available?

107M$ is pretty incredible alright. But it did that well for a few reasons:
-People really enjoyed X-Men
-Fantastic word of mouth
-Great marketing
-Not exactly horrible economic times

I see XMFC as being the new X-Men, theatrically anyway. It did poorly because X3 and XOW were crappy so no one wanted to blow their money on a movie that could be just as bad. Now that everyone knows it's great and it's widely expected that a sequel is inevitable, a sequel would make a ton of money at the box office and would probably break a couple of the other X-Men movies' records. I hope that's something FOX is talking about as they discuss sequels and how much money it will mean for them (because that's what it's all about).

How much did Thor make?

It surprised me. I remember the number being big but not that big. Save for Tangled, X2 sold more units in its first 5 days than any 2011 release for the entire year, including Harry Potter.

How much did Thor make?

As blueserenity said, Thor sold a little over 1.6 million units (811,380 DVDs and 798,573 Blu-rays) in its first week. It’s a bit difficult to compare First Class and Thor because First Class was released on a Friday, so its first week only consists of 3 days. In those 3 days, however, First Class sold 505,861 DVDs and 824,809 Blu-rays. In short, Thor sold more DVDs but First Class sold more Blu-rays, and First Class did it in half the time. It looks like both should do well, though.

When is the sequel going to be announced? :argh:

Here!.....ish....

Fox Filmed Entertainment spokesman Chris Petrikin has a different view of the performance of “X-Men: First Class,” however.
“We regard ‘X-Men’ as a huge success,” he said. “It reignited the franchise and has done more than $350 million worldwide.” He added that the film performed strongly enough for Fox to make more sequels in the future and characterized the film division’s overall performance as “terrific.”

There Is no question there will be sequel.we know from lauren Shuller Donner's Interviews from the Blu-Ray/DVD launch that any talk of X4/X5 have been sequeshed
till the First Class trilogy Is done.We are not getting the sequel till a year or 2 after
The wolverine hits theatres. So let's hope It comes out In 2013 so then attention goes to
first Class sequel.

The point Is the talk of X4/X5 Is being Ignored In favor of first Class Sequels.

Huzzah! :applaud This does make me feel better.

I hope you're right. I won't rest completely easy until a sequel's been officially announced, though.

Update on the DVD/Blu-ray sales for week ending Sep 25, 2011:

DVD: 106,515 units for $2,022,720
Blu-ray: 120,964 units for $2,832,988

Total DVD: $18,529,687
Total Blu-ray: $32,234,139

Total: $50,763,826

These numbers don't include online sales from places such as iTunes and Amazon. First Class is currently #5 on both iTunes rentals and purchases, so it could have made another $10m or so. Either way from box office and DVD/Bluray sales it's made over $400m. Intentional DVD/Blu-ray sales and TV rights could push it close to $500m.

$50M seems great.

hopefully it will end with 70M with the next years.

Does have been discussed the issue that the song "Love Love" was completely removed from the end credits on the home video releases?. I bought the blu ray last week and felt complety dissapointed. I watched the film twice on cinemas and that song was perfect for the movie at the end. However, i managed to obtain "another" copy though the web in digital format and high definition, and the song was present. Do we have a word from studio for that decision?. I hate when perfect movies are altered for the blu ray releases, even the end credits.

Hello people! I m a bit confused.

Does anyone know if the european version of the Blu ray has the "Isolated Score", "X marks the spot" and the digital comics features?

Thanks!!

On the latest BR report it says XMFC has earned a total of 26.8M$... that can't be right unless the last few weeks were inflated by 10M$...
