Days of Future Past The Official X-men First Class Merchandise thread

where are the pics of the minimates on this thread?

I thought this was the merchandise thread, but you didnt post the pics, haha

Gotta admit the X-men movie figures were pretty bad. I remember seeing the prototype versions of Storm and Jean (Storm particularly) and being very impressed. But being let down by the final product.

The Rogue variant (in the picture) with the Rogue Power Slammers body repainted looked pretty good though.

I would like to fill my X-men action figures collection with the new X-men movie. I hope this is not too early to create the thread, so the fan of merchandise could discuss or even "suggest" some idea to Fox.

I would love to see the return of 6" figures. Origins had disappointing figures !

And most of these were Toybiz. And I loveD Toybiz. I can just imaginehow bad the Hasbro (?) figures would be...

yea the toy biz ones were pretty bad

nightcrawler's figure was excellent though :)

I was hoping they'd have some tie-in comics or a tie-in novel for this film like the first three had. I think a XMOW could have used a novel by Claremont, who actually made a version of The Last Stand enjoyable with his book.

But I hope you got my point though, the Toybiz movie figure ones were pretty bad (the Marvel Legends regular figures and the old 5" ones were awesome though), but Hasbro has just dropped the ball on their interpretation of the Marvel Universe.

IIRC, Iceman from X2 was pretty good too. :)

agreed on all points
i wasn't aware they did a iceman :wow:
i don't think we got anything past wave one of the x-2 line here

Would you know where we can see those prototye ? The storm 8" figure is quite nice.

Shame that we never got Lady Deathstrike or X3 Pyro. They would have been cool.

I know Wolvie's the cash cow, but I always hated how they did a Wolverine and Logan figure.....I never purchased the figures of Wolverine...or any other character for that matter, in their regular/civilian clothes, unless that was the only version of the character.........

....I have a good chunk of the X1 figs, which except for Storm and Rogue I thought were well done, ToyBiz really stepped up in the late-90s, early-00s...

...I own none of X2...and except for Wolverine & Nightcrawler, I don't recall ever seeeing Cyke, Mags, or Iceman in stores, although I was aware of those figs...I would try pick up Nightcrawler, Iceman, and Maybe the Magneto, but I think except for Nightcrawler, their pretty pricey now...

the few X3 characters Hasbro released through Marvel Legends were a step down from any of the ToyBiz movie figures...... I think a good example would be the Jean figure that was released in 2000 is way better sculpted and detailed than the Jean/Phoenix figure released in what 07/08...I might pick up Colossus, Beast, and Juggs just to round out the characters...

...I didn't like the X-men Origins: Wolverine, Marvel Universe (toy line) inspired figures...IIRC the only 6-inch figures released to coincide with the release of the film were: I think, a new Wolverine (w/ a silly grin) and a new Cyke, and also repackaged Marvel Legends X3 Beast and Colossus...the figures were also released as X-Men Trilogy 2-packs...I think Cyclops/Collossus and Wolverine/Beast?

I hope Hasbro steps up the Game with First Class, as I wasn't really thrilled with their X3 and Wolverine related figures and collectibles...

The most important thing is with the 3.5 inches figures, they look really bad and not detailed. I have XOW Sabretooth and Deadpool, but I wish they'd made them 6 inches so I could put them beside my X1 and X2 figures.

I keep saying I wish they make Deathstrike X2 figure. it is a shame !

I don't, know, let me know what you think...I think the Marvel Universe figures look great (i prefer 6 inch figures), but I thought the Wolverine figures were terrible, details, sculpting, etc......I think figures can be done properly in the 3.5 inches, I think some of the MU look great but the XO:W figures were ugly...

...and yes Deathstrike would have been awesome...weird they didn't do any Wolverine VS two-packs like they did with the first film?

Hmm...lemme do a search on the Storm prototype.

The thing with these 3.5 inch figures is, on top of the fact that they're a significant step down from quality from the heydays of Toybiz, they're also extremely expensive!

Agreed. My ex-girlfriend often tried to stand up for them, saying "Well, now we have the chance to get characters that aren't as mainstream and wouldn't have been made." .. Maybe that's true, but at the same time, the 3.5 are so tiny and suck so much that I stray away from buying them. I got the Gambit and Deadpool (Comic costumes) of the Wolverine wave, and after that I guess I just lost interest.

Same here. I remember going to Toys R Us and purchasing every figure. I even got the Toys R Us exclusive comic-book.
Oh I had that. do you think you can scan some pages? Please???

The new X-men merchandise should be awesome. Unless they keep changing to final look of the characters. How long do these toys have to be made into prototype and the actual ones ?

I want a Banshee, Emma Frost and Havok action figure - X-Men First Class Edition!
